This approach will work with any commercial hammock. Make sure that walking staff is strong enough to carry your weight. Stay tuned for a future video ....

That is the most amazing idea I have ever seen for a simple hamock. I love the two layers for putting a blanket underneath for warmth.

Peace, and thanks. I made one for a motor cycle trip last summer that was a total failure, on the first night out, LOL. It did make a great ground cover for the rest of the trip though, and the weather was fair, so it was no biggie. But this style rocks. Thanks again.

Excellent Ken, I like the idea of using the walking staff. You looked snug as a bug in the rug. Love the sound of the birds. Peace ✌️

Hi Ken, I made a hammock years ago with a twin sized bed sheet. It was great but too short to really stretch out for sleeping. Fabric is so expensive, so I wound up buying a nylon hammock online. It's long and comfy and I paid less than $10. Lisa

zalkona food point.. I have also used this technique with commercial nylon hammocks. It works fantastic. Stay tuned for a future video where I make a simple conversion to change a commercial gathered end hammock into a half bridge hammock. Very comfortable

Pretty cool. I like this. May I ask, of the 2 designs, which is your favorite? Also have you used this yet on an over nighter? I think this a handy and useful bit of knowledge/gear. Thanks for sharing

If you use a friction hitch on the staff, you might not need to use those screws. A distel hitch could be tied on a bight and might offer the security you need. I'm also wondering if that extra whipping at the foot can be obviated...
