Happy 4th of July! My mother was a child of the Depression years and one of her greatest loves was being able to buy things she liked once she was able to afford better things than from Goodwill. She always mentioned those shoes that all the little girls used to blacken the flower design on the front of the shoes so other kids would not "know" where the shoes came from. She was not all that good at purging because it meant ridding herself of something she liked. So don't feel bad about loving your colourful outfits. 💕

Happy 4th, Nanny & Moosie! Love the comment, a black belt in retail therapy! Purge or cull... whatever works for you! I can see that you do need to do a certain amount to keep a balance. Especially with gifted items constantly coming in.
When I visited my mom in California, Temecula, years ago, we had a blast that day at a Ross, and we both walked away with beautiful bags of clothing. Was so reasonable. We just finally have a Ross here in Ohio recently. Caftans are my daily go to for a day at home, all year around. In winter I just add a matching long sleeve top under them. Nice to be comfortable, yet presentable if door bell rings.

Hello again dear Nanny! Loved your Patriotic visor...and Moosie's too! Great shopping trip....who can resist these reasonable prices! Enjoy your shopping forays....They keep you young, fashionable, happy and full of vim and vigor! My view is to look your best even if going to the market or the post office.... and this is not a view of conceitedness....just to feel and look your best. Who wants someone you meet unexpectedly to think..."Oh that poor old frump....just look at those baggy pants!" :( To look good brings a sense of wellbeing and positivity. Even on days when I don't actually feel physically tip top....once I put on a little make-up and a nice outfit I actually begin to feel better! I love all those beautiful caftans....I have to begin to wear more colorful outfits...as I mostly 'blend in.'....with tans, blacks and naturals.....Time for me to try some color! Looking forward to more painting projects....

Nanny, that argan oil really did the trick you were hoping for. It looks healthy, not dry and has shine, too!! Nanny, like you , I enjoy going to different stores, cruising for bargains and loving it if I find something . Very often, it is the “outing” that is satisfying, and it doesn’t matter if you buy something or not. However, I do envy you….I never have any success at our Ross. I’m sure they vary regionally , but I am more successful at other stores. I also use Shannies’ criteria when I change my clothes over seasonally. If I didn’t wear it that whole season, or the one before, it gets donated. Often too I find that my tastes change aorta I no longer care for the fit , etc. I also have some pieces I will never part with. My jean jacket is that las thing my dad bought for me and I still wear it 20 years later❤❤ So glad you have her help and support. I know it makes the decisions easier. Have a wonderful 4th….God bless this beautiful, imperfectly wonderful country and as you say, God bless us all🇺🇸❤

For me I found the easiest way to purge is once a year I turn all my hangers backwards and then when I wash the clothes and put them back I reverse the hangers at the end of the year anything I haven’t worn has to be examined as to what is a good reason to keep it if I haven’t worn it for an entire year. I when I do that I don’t get rid of everything but I can get rid of a lot of things when I’m not sure I just take them off their hangers and pack them up and put them aside for a few months while I think about it and then if I still don’t wear them then they gotta go❤ It’s too warm for me outside for the fireworks so I’ll be watching on TV I hope you and Moosey have a lovely holiday!

Well, Nanny, if I bring an item into the house, something has to leave. I never have to purge. This all started when we were raising our family in a split level home, 1200 square feet. There was no storage beyond the small room where the furnace was, and the crawl space. Now that we are retired, we moved to a 55 plus home with 2 bedrooms and so much storage. Including a full cellar. It’s all 95% empty. It’s a mindset. Some of us have it, some don’t. So don’t worry about it. Have fun instead. I would be miserable surrounded by stuff. You feel more secure that way. It’s all good!

Yes, Namny, when that sun comes up, it’s so gorgeous, we have to get up to enjoy it. Your hair looks healthy after slugging. It works. So happy for you that you were able to get rid of things you don’t love and buy things you live. No one can tell us who we are or knows us better than ourselves. Enjoy! Beautiful new caftans. My friend is leaving for another country. She cleared her attick, and sold used clothes for 300 pounds!! She is a fashionista too
if you make a paste with gelatin powder with warm water and a little bit of argan oil. Let it soak in for half an hour and then rinse well, you get the best hair mask in the world. Really. My dead gray hair has regained its shine and looks very healthy. In the Netherlands we don't celebrate the Fourth of July, but it looks fun. Thanks for your video and greetings to Moos

Hello, my beautiful friend. I'm taking a run back to your July 4 video. A couple of thoughts. I never thought of slugging my hair, but the Argan Oil you're using really makes your hair shiny. Not only that, but I think it thickened your hair so it was easier to put up. And your muumuus, caftans and palazzo pants are gorgeous. Unfortunately most of the clothes our thrift stores (small city British Columbia), WalMarts, etc seem to be of the nasty type of polyester that really makes my skin creep (not enough cotton in it).

Hi from Annie those clothes look great and I have an idea which might work go back to that op shop that you purged those two tops and buy them back I did that couple times. But don't take too long as they put things on the r ack to sell within a week of most donations. It would look nice to have those tops to match the bottoms as they are a set. It is getting hotter in America England and Europe.Her yesterday we hac -1 deg from about bit before 5am till 8am was freezing the tv news said it has been the coldest winter since 1908 amazing. I like that in between hot and cold weather around 25-28deg. after this month we have another month of winter then spring be here. God bless you both take care.

I haven’t tried it yet, but I recently discovered something by Garnier fruit and I found it on Amazon that you used to air dry your hair a kind of cream product. It’s very inexpensive like six dollars and change, but I’m sharing it with you because you like to air your hair. I am definitely gonna try it. I haven’t got it yet.
Nanny, I had to add to your comment about Moosie. I have to watch him because he will end up throwing out your Martha Stewart cookbook’s. One Saturday morning I was in my car not going for a visit to my parents they lived about 40 minutes away I was probably going shopping but something told me I should go to my parents home and just check on them. I don’t think my dad was retired at that point and I think my mom was still teaching so they were probably in the early 60s Because I got this weird feeling in the pit of my stomach…..when I get there my dad is having a house sale. There was a multi home house sale that day in the neighborhood so what do I see the hand made cradle that he made for my son when he was born,😢😢he was into woodworking at the time as a hobby. I drove down the street pulled into the driveway, grabbed the cradle off the table put it right in my car. I said dad why are you selling Justin’s cradle his very first grandson or grandchild for that matter. He said I’ll make you another one. I’m like that’s not the same. If I would’ve been there five minutes later it would have probably been sold. Thank God I stopped over. I started putting things back in the house.😊😊😊 you have to watch husbands and fathers. They love to get rid of “Stuff “ they think you don’t need anymore So the cradle has been safe and sound ever since. I have all my dolls from childhood in the cradle displayed in my home in one room or another. ❤😅😊love u!!!!💛🌻🇺🇸❤️

Nanny! Yes! I agree thrifting or light shopping is truly an outing. My mom called it "browsing." I needed a decompression outing after a recent afternoon event and I went to Ross!
