How have I never seen this brilliant technique for using the cut offs from snowballs?! Thanks for teaching this old dog a new trick. :)
Glad it was helpful!
A ton of UA-cam quilters have been posting it recently. Not sure anyone else knew this trick either. Haha
This would make a great baby quilt with pictures in the middle. Another great idea. Thank you
Pretty quilt. Very clever construction!
I love this!
Don't worry about being "unconventional"--that's how creativity and innovation happen! Gorgeous result!
Yes! Thank you!😊
Beautiful quilt!!
Thank you! 😊
I wish I had seen this a year ago! What a unique way of showing off your "too pretty" fabrics!!
Glad it was helpful!
IKR 😊
So Clever! Thanks!!
Glad you liked it!
Love this quilting.
Thank you!
I have been looking for a pattern for months that would let me keep some of a favorite layer cake as 10" whole squares. This pattern is perfect. Thanks for sharing such a fun, useful, almost no waste idea.
Glad it was helpful!
This is such a great idea! Thanks for sharing! 🤗
You are so welcome!

Oh my gosh I ❤️this! What a unique design! Great job, can’t wait until I can try!
Have fun!
Very cool!!!!
This is such a beautiful quilt thank you for the video
You’re welcome 😊
Ingenious corner treatment. I generally avoid snowball corners but yours have that extra pizzazz. And the hourglass cornerstones are the perfect way to use all the cutoffs!
That is truly awesome…..I love it!❤❤❤
I'm so glad!
I just love your ideas! Thank you for sharing
Glad you like them!
You read my mind… I absolutely love this tutorial. I love that it’s non-conventional traditional whichever word we want to use. You are my hero!
LOL- thank you. I seem to have misplaced my cape. 🦸♀️
@@revelationquilts well, I’ll just have to use his quilt pattern and make you one… Lol

Thanks for sharing your process.very creative use of HST- Hourglass for cornerstone Looks great.
Thank you!
That was awesome!
Thank you!
What an amazing idea! using the cut offs with no waste!
I'm very glad you like it!
What a great tutorial ! Another idea to do that second line is to run another piece of diagonal seam tape right to the left of the piece you already have...and then you can use that to measure the 1/2" I love diagonal seam tape. Thanks!
Great Idea!
Absolutely amazing, love your channel and this technique ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
This was very interesting and the technique so fascinating ❤
Glad you think so!
So very awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
I love this quilt. Most layer cake quilts aren't really interesting like this.
There are some pretty ones out there.
So beautiful
Thanks! I really like it too!
I thought this was a great method! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! What a great way to add interest! At first I thought you were going to add the last half square triangle! That would look cool too! Maybe as a paper pieced element. Hmm, there's an idea for me to try. Thank you!
I seriously thought about doing that. I'll bet it would add a whole new dimension!
Love this block. I don’t have a fat quarter bundle but I do have some fat quarters. I think I’ll try scrappy. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoy!
Very clever
Love it!
Thanks!!
Very cool process!
Thank you! Cheers!
What a fantastic quilt idea! Last summer I made your Prism quilt and it looks amazing. Thank you so much. Diana (from England) xx
Wonderful! I really appreciate your support!
Love it!!!
Very cool design. I enjoyed your tutorial. Lots of trimming, but great results. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love skinny strips in blocks and in borders, but your technique 'takes the cake ' 😉. Taking border suggestions? One of my fav borders is to 1. railroad 3 sets of 10x2.5" strips, 2. add a contrasting 1" skinny strip next to two of the railroaded strips, 3. sew the 3 railroaded strips side by side making the contrasting fabrics two skinny .25" inserts by aligning left side of my presser foot against the first seam as you do here, 4. miter the constructed border onto your quilt so that the 2 inset skinny strips create 2 square frames for your quilt. Hope I'm clear enough to follow! Love love this quilt!!!!!!
Awesome! Thank you for the suggestion!
Very nice
Thanks
New Here! I love ❤️ your unconventional method! So glad I found your channel. Thank you!
Welcome!!
Great idea.
Thanks!
Great pattern on going to try it and not much waste love that
Glad you like it!
The narrower seam allowances are also on bias seams, so there’s no chance they’ll unravel. I really like your thinking here, I have the perfect layer cake I’ve been saving for a pattern like this.
Good thinking! I didn't really even consider that, but you're absolutely right!
I love this quilt! I've had a particular layer cake for over a year now that I haven't been able to bring myself to cut into. I plan on starting this one today ❤
Wonderful!
So clever and beautiful! Thanks for sharing and be blessed.
Thank you! 😊
This is awesome
It's a fun one for sure!
Love this pattern! I made the first row and can't stop looking at it! My blocks were about 9.75 and my corner stone squares wound up being 2.25. I am sure I didn't do something right. Thank you for this lovely block pattern!
Mine were just shy of 10" but they are all consistent. I promise it will work out. I'd love to see the results!
WOW - Amazing technique!! So unique!!! I love it. I am horrible about choosing colors that will go together This has given me some inspiration. I just love the Pattern!!!! Thanks so much for this tutorial!!! Please show a picture of what quilting pattern you chose for this beautiful quilt!! Thanks
I will take a picture once I get it quilted.
Another winner, Suze!
I just came up with a little hack the other day for marking lines in the back of fabric. I like using a regular mechanical pencil but the one is very light and I usually have to draw the line two or three times. The other day I put in a 2B or 4B lead, which is softer than the conventional lead for a mechanical pencil. The softer lead makes a much more visible line with a single stroke! I imagine a 2B or 4B pencil (from the art supply store) would work the same way! I ordered my softer leads from Dick Blick in the US.
Brilliant idea!
Beautiful quilt ‼️Love this technique and hardly any fabric waste!! Thank you!😊💕
Thank you! 😊
Great for non-convention! There ..... is where the magic happens everytime! Thankyou! You always amaze me!
Wow, thank you!
What a fabulous idea! I have several layer cakes that will be wonderful for this ingenious design. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Love it!
Thanks!!
I love this!! I DO have a couple of layer cakes o cannot make myself cut up because they are just too pretty! I have to make this!
Go for it!
I don’t like pinked edges either. One reason I like buying precuts from Jordan Fabrics. Great video! Gonna shop my huge stash and get started ❤
Awesome! Thank you!
Great idea. Brenda at Conquering Mount Scrapmore said you had a great channel
Thanks for coming!
Very nice. I can see this snowballing all of the layer cake and using a contrast as the sashing . I just like larger quilts.
Me too, but for the sake of tutorials, it makes better sense timewise to make smaller quilts. You can always make any quilt as big as you wish.
Thank you! I’m a new subscriber and can’t wait to make this!!🌸🌼
Welcome!! Thank you for subscribing!
I love this.
😮😮😊😊😊!!! This is fabulous. Very cool
Ingenious! Love this. Thank you so much. 😊

Welcome!! Enjoy!
Very Clever! Thank you for sharing😊
You're welcome! Much Love!
Luv this!!! I have a few layer cakes that needed a great design/block. Tks for sharing.
Great! Sometimes it's hard to find designs that show them off.
Gorgeous block! Love your colors and this is such an interesting block! I have a layer cake this would be Perfect for!!!!
Yay! I hope you make it!
Love your ideas very much
Thank you!
I think it's beautiful ❤️ and I like it alot, and the methods you used make absolutely sense to me! Greetings from Germany! Andrea
Thank you! Cheers!
Very clever.
This.... Is a brilliant technique. I genuinely was awed when I saw what you were planning on doing.
Also I frequently find myself frustrated when watching quilters because of the amount of little corners of fabric that get thrown away. I love that you intentionally use the corners, not just in the base block but then even the little leftovers from the second cut of the block too.
Thoroughly impressed.
Thank you for the encouraging words!
I love this So glad I watched and you shared ❤️❤️cherie
Thanks so much😊
What a cool technique! I’m thinking it would also work, in a less scrappy version, with a large print cut into 10” squares. I’ve got an all over print that would not work if cut up into smaller pieces, but a 10” square would be great. Plus, I’m a little tired of doing one block wonder and/or 4 Patch Posy projects.
Thank you.
Totally!
That’s brilliant! Those charms just keep going and going!
Thank you!
I had to use fabric and cut my layer, cakes and charm squares. I’ve got half of my pieces cut up! You have no idea how many times I have watched this video. I’m making this quilt for my mom for Christmas. She’s like my best. Everything in the whole world and I really want to make her proud.
It will look amazing! Your momma will love it!
@@revelationquilts these double snowballs are a lot more work than I thought. For my first quilt, I have bit off a lot! But I’m not gonna give up.
@@Yasha4life You got this!🥰
Beautiful! Thank you for clear instructions every step through to completion. Such a calming choice of fabrics.
I love this layer cake!
Wonderful and so precise thank you from Australia
Love the quilt. It's a great way to use all the fabric .😊
Thank you! I think so too!
This is brilliant way to get those skinny strips in there. Thanks for sharing your technique.
It's my pleasure!
Thank you soooo much. Now to find my layer cake I've had for 5 years 😊
Wonderful! Enjoy!
This is absolutely gorgeous! Fantastic idea!❤
Thank you! Cheers!
I believe if a technique works for you. There is nothing wrong with it. I see it is innovative. I love it. I love doing things my way.
I watched this video (the second one) this morning. This is beautiful to me. I love how it displays the beautiful colors and prints used by you. I have never bought any of Mat's hand cuts; because, I have been disappointed by some of the charm packs I have bought at the local quilt shops here. I usually cut fabric from my own stash (when I am having a pain free day). The lines and colors in your quilt top are so interesting to me. You had very little wasted fabric in this project. Thank you.
You are so welcome! Much Love!
