Great video. I'm subscribing. I use my 72 for work. Great for safety vests, tools and posse boxes. But yeah, the 24 is great. 12 is my EDC bag, and the MOAB 10 is my range bag. Take care, cheers!🍻
Tim, I must say, I agree with your approach. I realize a lot of people like a really big back so they can just stuff things in when they are in a hurry and go, but the modular approach you use here is much more functional. Let’s face it. There is a real limit to how much you want to carry on your back. A 72 with all the attachments you have on the 24, is going to be a a VERY big and heavy back. This modular system essentially allows you the carry volume of a “clean” 72 so you can pack into a location with all your gear, but once there and set up, allows you the option of shedding some pouches / slash weight, when you head out for the day to hike or hunt. Great concept, well thought out and everything is more accessible. Love my 24 2.0. Would love to hear your suggestions for a waist belt attachment for the 24 when heavily loaded. I know 511 makes one. Do you recommend nit or something else.
Personally I don't feel the 24 needs a belt, but I am aware of the belt you mentioned. I know of anything similar to what 5.11 offers, I'm sure it would be better than nothing if you really want to use a belt... but I question how much of a difference it'll make. I carry a number of things on my belt (gun, spare mag, fixed blade and so on) so for me the hip belts just get in the way. The RUSH belt kit is pretty cheap so it's worth a try, but last I looked it only comes in black... none of my packs are black.
I EDC the 511 MOAB 6 and it’s built tough as nails. Two+ years of abusive use everyday with zero failures. I’m going to get the Rush 12 next. As always thanks for your hard work and time making these videos.
The 12 is great, it's the pack I use most for EDC. I don't have the 6 but I do have the 10, plan on making a video soon about that. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Be well and stay safe.
Having both the 24 and 72, i can say personally, it is just that much easier using the 72 when i need more space. Regardless, love the vids keep up the great work.

Very nice system Tim. I agree with your thinking here, more room ultimately and easier access. It's amazing how difficult it becomes to find things when you have to search through your pack. This alleviates this problem for the stuff you will use more. Thanks for sharing!!
Exactly! That’s why i really like packs with the PALS webbing instead of “traditional” hiking packs without them. With the PALS webbing you can add all kinds of different pouches and various attachments and even camouflage your pack with sticks, and other vegetation if needed. Thanks for stopping by.

Your rig is looking good Tim. I'm with you and quite often swap pouches around. Also you can cherry pick your favourite pouches. Those straps would look great on the bottom of the 24 for tarp, mat or sleeping bag. Keep 'em coming my friend.
Exactly. I have more webbing so I could make two more straps for the bottom and be able to carry even more gear. The possibilities are endless. Thank you for taking the time to watch.
Thanks for posting this informative video. I really enjoy your laid back approach. Personally, I kind of like the slight color variation on your setup. I think it actually helps the setup to blend into the environment a bit better. My setup is very similar. I have added pouches to my a 65-L INCH bag as well. The pack in my case is coyote tan, and the extra pouches vary from FDE to coyote tan. I also like being able to configure the pack to fit needs that can vary from season to season. I even added a MOLLE pouch to my IFAK pouch to contain my tourniquet and a few other items that I might need to access in an emergency. Yes, what that means is I have my IFAK pouch attached to my backpacks, with a smaller pouch attached to them. By the way, I'm also a type 1 diabetic. I have been for over 50 years. I was 2 years old when I was diagnosed. I've managed to keep my diabetes in check by living an active lifestyle. I think 53 years of living with diabetes with no diabetic onset issues at all is a testament to how important it is for diabetics to stay fit. Thanks again for posting, and please continue to post quality content such as this, Eric (Thrifty Survivor).
Thrifty Survivor Thank you Eric for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated. I found out when I was 16 and had little to no help so unfortunately at 47 I do have some complications. We found out my son has diabetes when he was 2 (now 5) and I'm going to do my very best that he doesn't go through what I've gone through.
Well the good news is that just like me, your son can live a fully productive and normal life. He can be driven just like I have been. I was fortunate to have lived in France where I took up cycling and even raced some. I don't consider my diabetes to be a handicap at all, I feel that it actually gives me an unfair advantage, I call it "the diabetic advantage". My diabetes has taught me discipline and I trust your son will have the same advantage I've been given. I wouldn't trade it for anything. In fact, I don't think I would have lived the healthy lifestyle I have chosen to live, if it weren't for my diabetes. I often thank God for having chosen to allow me to be an encouragement to others and to encourage them to take care of the bodies he has given them. In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if 50 years from now, your son won't look back on his condition, and feel that it has pushed him to achieve things that he never would have without it.
Frankenpack...no kidding. My 24 is starting to look like that slowly...I am searching for a waist belt from Canada. Anyone has advice please post. I used the 6.10 pouches and a 10.6 pouch from 5.11, and they worked out great. They do not add any unnecessary bulk. Expensive, but worth it. Thanks TD, like your videos. Keep it up.
Yeah the 24 is such a versatile pack, not too big and not too small. Outfit it with pouches and so on when needed and remove everything when you don't. Thanks for stopping by, much appreciated.
Great video ! Have the RUSH 24 in non-Tactical Black... This pack is great for a Day Pack... A Day Pack with "The Ten Essentials" by the Seattle Mountaineers will keep you safe overnight and bring you home the next day. A Day Pack is needed for any short Day Hike and could save a life ! Just added a Poncho/Tarp with Rip-Stop Nylon and Double Sided Snaps. The only "Con" of the Poncho is it is "Made in China". The Ponch/Tarp is mated up with "T" Aluminium Tent Stakes and 100" of Paracord for Shelter. Also have room for NIJ Level IIIA Light Weight Backpack (soft and/or hard) Armor and a Trauma Kit. Thank you for the video ! tjl
Because of this channel I now have the rush 12 & (2)Rush 72. Paid $50 for the Rush 12 and $150 for 2 Rush 72 used but almost new condition. I hope to find another great deal on the Rush 24.
Don't all of the exterior items attached to the pack snag when your out and about. I would have thought the larger cleaner pack would of been more practical. All of the outer items would fit inside the larger pack. Plus you would have the ability to place all the additional pouches on the outside and inside capacity if required. Plus I feel the items would be safer inside the main pack.
Nope. No snagging whatsoever. Been in the woods a dozen times with this set up and not a single hangup or snag on a branch. The system is working very well actually. So far so good.
I had it there but was getting lots of false readings for some reason. It's been working better since I moved it, I also removed and reinstalled the battery about that time as well so I'm not sure why I was getting the higher temps than normal.
I wish I could get the 72 in an actual real tree type camo including the molle, and 100% waterproof, the molle patern on anybag makes you stand out like a sore thumb especially when hunting. I have viewed the 24 in person and it's a gorgeous overall bag. For me I'd have to order the 72 for my extended stays, olive green though or multi cam, unless I can get a real tree custom bag. Nice video
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand you just made me click “order” ! Can’t wait to get my double tap rush 24! You’re so in depth with your reviews man. Alot of other reviewers should pay good attention to your videos, they could learn alot! Keep the great reviews coming man!
brandon leclair Thank you my friend for watching. It's funny you mention that because I often get complaints from some viewers for talking too much or being too thorough. I'm certainly not perfect and have lots I can work on bug I'd rather give too much info as aposed to not enough. Once again, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
TheTacticalDefender i rather know more than needed than not knowing enough! Usually people have to watch multiple reviews on the same item to be able to get the info that you pack into one video!
Love the video and l love the Rush 24. I just got one for a camping trip coming up. What's your pack weight? I'm very much into compartmentalizing everything in pouches. Keeps me more organized.
On average I'd say about 30lbs. I don't take gear for camping trips and/or overnight trips, it's pretty much daily hiking gear and whatever products I'm reviewing that day. It does change often. A lot of bags/packs come through for review, most I move along after the review but the RUSH series I kept. Great packs!
You need to design your own pack, and I agree with the reasoning behind it all. I find the same issues, I necessarily don’t always want a big bag, but I want to have access to gear now , not go looking inside. I’m assuming if they built that perfect bag, they wouldn’t sell the other, marketing helps them sell more bags. I find myself doing the same, now...., they know this, so..., why don’t they just make them that way, we know why...
You should run some wedding to act like the maxpadition y strap. Will pull some of that bulk in towards the bag so it doesn't wiggle and giggle. Just an idea.
The Y strap that comes over the top of the pack? Thought about that. I also was thinking of making two larger straps like the two small ones I made, that way if I needed to I could place one around the sides of the pack and maybe one over the top like what you mentioned. Might help a little when I strap other things like Tent, sleeping bag or things like that to the outside of the pack. The possibilities are endless.
I tried this and found that I'd lost the reason I bought a medium sized pack in the first place. I added 2 water bottle pouches either side of an 8"x10" FAK pouch and the weight distribution was all wrong. I now use the same webbing and buckles you have to secure the Admin pouch on my 72 to prevent the droop. Great presentation as always, thanks mate.
awesome review, question if you're still using the same rush 24 bag how's it holding up since this video has been out? for the grab handle do you know how many pounds can it hold up to?
I review a lot of backpacks but the RUSH24 and the IBEX 35 from Vanquest are my favorites. I alternate using those two packs in between reviewing other backpacks. Having said that the 24 is built tough and has been through a lot and still looks new. I can easily see the 24 lasting my lifetime. As for the grab handle... it's as tough as they come. The handle can easily hold any weight you can fit in the pack.
Hi Tim, is there a pack like the 5.11 you have there but is built better that comes to mind? I like the general design of the pack you have there, but with Alice pack type reliability. I got a Propper bag some months ago and had a bad experience
John Eli. Do you have any experience good or bad with 5.11 packs? You mentioned a bad experience with Propper but you're looking for something like but better than the 24. There are certainly more expensive packs and the quality being better than 5.11 is questionable but I'm not sure why you feel the 5.11 packs aren't good quality.
TheTacticalDefender .....I have never used a 5.11 product so I don't know. I just want to get the best product next time so that the next bag I get doesn't fall apart at the seams like the last one
I hear you, was just curious. I have 5 packs/bags from 5.11 and they are all made very well, great quality for the money. I'm not easy on my gear, especially my packs and these 5.11 packs haven't let me down yet. Check out tripleaughtdesign.com/ - Great quality but too expensive for me. I can't say I've ever heard a bad thing. Also - Kifaru kifaru.net/ makes some really nice gear, also expensive. There's one other but I can't think of the name at the moment. These brands are great but out of my league.
I would like to ask you a question. I hope that you can help. You made a really nice video review on 5.11 Rush 72. I really believed the review i also measure my current back pack that is a JanSport i used it for 4 year in College and 5 more years at work. Now i want to get a new back pack . I know that you have all 3 Rush series. If you have to get only one and stay away from multiple attachments i will be getting the water bottle attachment because i find it really useful which one would you get? I go fishing and carry fresh bait also i like to be able to carry my wetsuit when i go diving . When i go diving a have a weight belt that ideally I should put in the back pack it is around 25 pounds.
Aside of the wet suit, I'd go with the 24 every day all day. I don't feel the wet suit will fit, if it does there won't be much room for anything else.
Thanks for the replay. I did order the larger pack but i appreciate your input. I will need it for the wet suite but I have the feeling that might buy the Rush 24 as an extra if the quality on the build on the 72 is good. I like to buy things that last and i can relay on. Also i might use one of them as an emergency back because i don't have one yet. Thanks Alex
Rally Point do you think the rush 24 as my only luggage would last me 10 days abroad? I travel really light btw. Never take a suitcase anywhere.. always a backpack.
Great video, I really enjoy watching all of your videos.....I recently bought the Rush 24 in FDE, and I love it! I love to have an organized pack, and it has gone beyond what I expected. I also purchased the 5.11 Sidewinder Straps (L), which allow you to attach things to the outside of your pack, and they have become quite useful. I was wondering if you have ever used the 5.11 Sidewinder Straps, and what you think of them? Great pack, and a great video, thank you!
Tim, all due respect, but to much stuff on and in, why not stick with your IBEX 30 and with all vanq organizer bacg you have it should be perfect and u wont have to hang stuff all over it.??.. just a thought.. buy the way great video..now if only i could connvince you to switch to a little butane stove.lol
No disrespect taken my friend. I no longer have the IBEX 30 or the 20, I returned them back to Vanquest after the review was completed. Vanquest is the one and only company that wants the gear back after the reviewer is done with it. I also have the option of buying the product at a reduced discount if I so wish. I had them for a long time and used them well but honestly didn't have a place for them at the time nor did I have the money, wish I kept them now though. They are great packs. Any particular butane stove you recommend? As always there's so many to pick from. Which one/s do you have and use?
Jorge Garcia The RUSH24 is better, better overall build quality. The LAPG 24 is a great pack if money is an issue, if not then go with the 5.11, you'll be very happy for years to come.
Great video. Just a question, I've got the rush 24 and want to add side pouches. All the pouches I've seen have 4 bars of MOLLE on the but the 24 only has 3 bars, if that makes scenes. How did you attach it to the bag. I hope that makes sense. Ton
Thanks for stopping by Tom. These pouches I'm using are from BDS Tactical, they have this great system called the Stacker Lok (snapless modular locking system) where the straps are attached to their pouches and work extremely well. I don't recall if I've ever made a video about this system but I'm sure there's some videos demonstrating this here on UA-cam.
Yes, it comes encased in the plastic cover. I picked it up on Amazon. Just be aware, I'm on my third one now, first two failed to read the correct temp shortly after this video. The third one I bought has been working well for a while now.
@@GearReviewDepot i see that. So Multicam is a clour name. The price was higher than sandstone. thats whats maked me suspicious. If there is another version.
I brought my 72 on an airline with no problems and it was decently full. Technically I think the 72 is like 47 litres, and I've found that airlines ( Canadian at least ) don't mind as long as it's not obnoxious lol
Sandstone is the best color in my opinion. Black isn't good because dust and dirt you may get on it while in the field REALLY stands out. Sandstone is a nice blend of desert brown with a dash of green.
i really dont get it...hey lets buy a small Rucksack for EDC and stuff, hmm 25 or 37 litres will do it...oh, look it has MOLLE.... and boom more pouches than deadpool. As i see it, just judging by the extra volume and space you attach on the Ruck...you could also buy a Tasmanian Tiger Raidpack MK3 and have the same space with much more comfort at carry. AND to be honest, you wont stick out much more with it.

I commented on another post, but let's see an update considering this is three-quarters of a year with none to be found.
L W Just answered your other post.
i like the setup and like you said its flexible as to setup.
Absolutely. Flexibility is a good thing. I appreciate you taking the time to watch.
Excellent point. Thanks for watching!
I wish the rush24 had the same waist belt as the rush72.
awesome review, question if you're still using the same rush 24 bag how's it holding up since this video has been out? for the grab handle do you know how many pounds can it hold up to?
I review a lot of backpacks but the RUSH24 and the IBEX 35 from Vanquest are my favorites. I alternate using those two packs in between reviewing other backpacks. Having said that the 24 is built tough and has been through a lot and still looks new. I can easily see the 24 lasting my lifetime. As for the grab handle... it's as tough as they come. The handle can easily hold any weight you can fit in the pack.
Nice setup so far. Versatile..
I really believed the review i also measure my current back pack that is a
JanSport i used it for 4 year in College and 5 more years at work.
Thanks
Alex
I actually have 2 sets of straps but have never used them. Amazing pack for sure.
Very nice man thank you for the info
Do you have a link for the thermometer? Or what's the brand? Would you recommend it?
What's the brand on the thermometer
It’s Accurite brand.
Any update on the Frankenpack?
Honestly man, forgeting price, which is the best option between 5.11 rush 24 and LAPG 24?
Jorge Garcia The RUSH24 is better, better overall build quality. The LAPG 24 is a great pack if money is an issue, if not then go with the 5.11, you'll be very happy for years to come.
TheTacticalDefender , thanks for the info, now just choose the color
@@GearReviewDepot thanks for the reply. Bought the pouches and they are great being using them for a while. Thanks
Where's the digital thermometer from? Did the clear "pouch" come with it?
Yes, it comes encased in the plastic cover. I picked it up on Amazon. Just be aware, I'm on my third one now, first two failed to read the correct temp shortly after this video. The third one I bought has been working well for a while now.
@@GearReviewDepot Just looked at the reviews and they were not too favorable. Looks like a lot of inconsistent readings.
Hi Tim
Can tell me about the weight all of 12 rush , 24 rush , 72 rush ?
Thanks
Sorry my friend, I have no clue. I looked on their website and they don't list the empty weight of each pack.
Look on amazon, they have the weight of everything they sell
I want to have a better idea of how the bag would look on me, therefore, I'd like to ask how tall are you?
Jonathan Lopez Cocom 5 feet 11 inches. I have a video where I compare the 12, 24 and 72 packs, I try each one on and show how they fit on me.
Thank you so much.
What's the name of the colour of the pack?
Sandstone. 👍
@@GearReviewDepot That's great thanks a million 😎👍
What is your thermometer brand or model ?
cool
There is 2 versions.
Diffrene with rush24 and multicam version?
Who told you there are two versions of the 24? I've only seen one. Other than different colors there's only one RUSH 24. At least where I live.
@@GearReviewDepot i see that. So Multicam is a clour name. The price was higher than sandstone. thats whats maked me suspicious. If there is another version.
Will this fit in the overhead for airline carry one?
The 24 as is will fit. Not so much with any pouches on it. Keep it pouch free and you'll have no problems.
I brought my 72 on an airline with no problems and it was decently full. Technically I think the 72 is like 47 litres, and I've found that airlines ( Canadian at least ) don't mind as long as it's not obnoxious lol
I don’t know what color I should get to blend in I live on the eastern shore
Check Instagram... just replied.
Sandstone is the best color in my opinion. Black isn't good because dust and dirt you may get on it while in the field REALLY stands out. Sandstone is a nice blend of desert brown with a dash of green.
What thermometer is that?
That's the AcuRite 00318 Indoor Outdoor Suction Cup Digital Thermometer on Amazon. I removed the suction cup and attached it to a carabiner.
no weather report
Is there really a need to keep smacking the pouches? 😂😂
Absolutely.
@@GearReviewDepot 🤣
i really dont get it...hey lets buy a small Rucksack for EDC and stuff, hmm 25 or 37 litres will do it...oh, look it has MOLLE.... and boom more pouches than deadpool. As i see it, just judging by the extra volume and space you attach on the Ruck...you could also buy a Tasmanian Tiger Raidpack MK3 and have the same space with much more comfort at carry. AND to be honest, you wont stick out much more with it.
There is a reason why I set it up this way, I thought I said why in the video. I apologize if I didn't. Thank you for stopping by and watching.
