I've read everywhere it is genetic, or caused by psychotropic medications, or trauma such as a car accident. I have had it for 21 years and only botox makes it feel better. I don't like the idea of injecting poison so I'll go without now and then. I end up being so uncomfortable. muscles pulling, headache, pain. So if it's what you're saying, then what is the treatment?

I would like to note one case. I also have cervical dystonia. But my illness is caused by a dopamine deficiency! I would like to point out to other affected people that in rare cases it can also have this cause.

This makes sense to me having to deal with cervical dystonia since 2013. When I’m super stressed out, my neck spasms are quite bad. If I’m having an argument with someone my neck twists super bad. I’ve dealt with a lot in my life as far as stress/trauma overload and have always been super sensitive to noises, extreme light and find it hard to deal with any confrontation that overloads my senses. Thank you for this insight

Watched again. So encouraging as I’m going off Botox after 21 years. Newly retired I can finally take care of me! I needed to hear this again. Thank you

OMG Neil thank you thank you no one has ever said this to me before. I've been suffering with CD for a number of years. I'm currently in a bad way suffering with dizziness, nausea & neck pain. This is how I stumbled across your channel, as I feel the cause of my dizziness is to do with my neck, not vertigo as the medical profession will tell me.
I have always felt that my CD was brought on by emotional trauma due to the loss of my first husband and then the stresses of my former work place. Just to have that validated means so much to me.
I'm based in Australia how can I get in touch with you?

Thank you for this. Can cervical dystonia ever be from a physical structure? It started when I was in clear aligners to straighten my teeth a few years ago… so I stopped that. But a few months ago I had a molar removed and was told that there’s a connection between emotions and the way our teeth touch and how our jaw is that can cause the way our heads turn. Have you ever heard of dental distress syndrome?

I have heard of it, but it’s not true. My teeth are not aligned and I recovered. No dental work required. Your right about emotions though.
