I'm a big fan of before and afters. Both in others' lives and mine. It takes a special relationship to work side by side on a hugh project such as yours. To have a community helping each other must be wonderful. I'm looking forward to seeing your dreams come true.
You guys should be less hard on yourself. Remember, the beauty and rustic nature of these old buildings lies in the imperfections. Not everything should be square and level. Best of luck
Andrea and Omar - what a wonderful, supportive and happy couple you are! ❤️ Beautiful journey of your new lives in Portugal you have taken us on and continue do so. Parabéns! Felicidades e sucesso com os vossos projectos pela frente. 😃 🌷Sam 🇨🇦

I absolutely love this compilation video. Takes us all back on the journey of the first year. I’d forgotten how exciting some of it was, and very interesting too. I hope this is the first of many as I can’t ever wait for your videos to drop I just can’t get enough!
I love watching you build your home, I have been following you both for months now and enjoy your episodes..you have come along way since you started, keep up the great work your putting in 👍🙂
You two have an incredible work ethic. I have loved watching you both create a home for yourselves and mum. Beautiful piece of land, and so much potential for just about anything. Well done. Thankyou Jackery for being a leading sponsor for many 😊
I loved this trip down memory lane! It's amazing how productive your first year really was! Your channel is my favorite and I always look forward to a new video each weekend. Cheers to you! 🎉
Ahhhh Miranda! Thank you so much for your lovely comment, it means a lot, really honest. Thank you for enjoying this video, I did pour my heart onto it and took me a while to make so it means so much for people to enjoy our videos. It really took me down memory lane and was so surprised about how much we did and how every little thing made us so happy.
I've followed you from the beginning. I have been amazed at your ability to work together and that you have not given in to any of the challenges. That says alot about your caricature and you life's goal.😂❤. Not many people can say that. We let so many things get in our way. Love you guys!
This was so interesting to me and I am sure, to many others. I love the approach you guys take to every challenge and frustration. Your self-discipline, commitment and positive attitude are to be commended. Looking forward to what's ahead! Love and prayers to you all!
So happy that I've followed both of you on your wonderful journey. Youve achieved with honour, grace, humor & affability. Dedication to; your goals, hard work, facing challeges shows in all you do. I hope all your dreams come true. You both desereve it.
I've enjoyed every single episode up to now and it's amazing to see how far you've come in such a short time. Putting your progress into a series of videos is a great idea and I look forward to the next one !
To see your shear will to forge a new life with your own hands is a beautiful thing to witness. Your commitment to build and grow, learn from challenges and work together to solve and conquer is truly inspiring. I am praying for you two. Be blessed!
Wow! This is back-breaking labor, doing weed root removal by hand, doing all the concrete and woodwork with simple tools, and hard work! I cant imagine how hard this all is. You two are amazing!
I loved watching this video ss it brought bck memories of the actual build which I loved…I never missed an episode…what you have achieved is amazing… ❤
I have enjoyed your content so much. So many design challenges with so many different materials. Excellent progress! Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more. Cheers from Canada.
You’ve both take on a HUGE project. I’ve seen you take on some tremendous challenges. I’m looking forward to seeing your next project. Good luck to you both as you continue to build your dreams.
Hey y'all! I loved this video format! I know it was for a whole year, i hope to see it for the next years! Include the English house renovation, that is particularly in my heart for what y'all did for me! And i had know idea of your talents. A friend of the family told me, you have talented friends😂! I just love y'all and was thinking about y'all yesterday. Y'all really have accomplished a lot more than you even think!! The Jackerys look pretty good. I have seen y'all use it/them all the time. Something like that would bee brilliant for this island life! Every time the wind blows to hard, (not counting Hurricanes), the power is out!! Sometimes they, the Town, will cut it off early before a Hurricanes or Tropical Storms incase a power pole falls or a transformer blows. That way it reduces the risk of fires. Out here, if one house catches fire, you can believe 3-4 are going to burn too because of the breeze or wind. We have very strick fire rules too, like Portugal!!! I need to get me a Solar Generator. Gas ones you hear all night long and there least likley to get stolen bc you can keep them in your house and run the panels outside. STAY SAFE. XX. 🙏❤🇺🇸🇬🇧🇵🇹⛵👣🤙🤗
Love watching all you both have accomplished . keep going , cant wait to see what you do next . Also enjoy your new homeland.. All the best for the next year to come to you both .Have a great November and also a blessed Christmas this December. Ninette bird and Hubby Robert- The Caribbean Wife Tx

Hello from down under - Melbourne Australia. Here in Oz (driest country on earth) we capture the rainfall from our roofs into large tanks via the guttering. Have you guys considered this at all? Great work rising to the challenges with a smile on your faces! God speed.
God bless you very much 🇬🇧🇬🇧❤❤❤❤
Oranges only become sweet once there have been a couple of heavy overnight frosts whilst the oranges are hanging on the tree. Without the frost cycle they stay bitter/sour. ( I live in an orange growing district in SE Australia with a similar climate to Portugal)
Absolutely stunning what you have achieved, and all the things you have learnt along the way. I know that because I saw the early steps, and you couldn't have got where you are now without learning so much. Here's wishing you an even better fourth year - you've earned it! Um forte abraço aos dos!
I wish to dot he same, has craftsman blood in my body but now I am 80 years disabled man. Now I can watch how you work and be happy on your behalf. Breed some tropical fruits on your farm.
Love the channel. Not only great videos but also inspiring. I wanna do the same and have receny left the uk and returned to Portugal, mycountry, to live this life. Keep going strong
Bemvindo a sua casa! What a wonderful place it is isn't it? We went to the local market today and said: "yep, this is it!!" What a wonderful country you have, we are all loving it.
What an amazing adventure so far! This is my introduction to your channel, I've subscribed, and will be going back and watching every video from the beginning. You brought tears to my eyes, seeing what you achieved together. What an amazing team you two are, so much accomplished. Even the rain coming right at the start of the roof tiling was helpful in it's own way, Mother Nature allowing you to know things were being placed correctly and functionally. I hope you continue to thrive and share this joyous path you have chosen in life, far in advance of completion and how you both live life in Portugal. Look forward to getting to know your neighbors, the cadence of your village, being brought along for bbqs virtually, learning how to make fig jam through watching your content and all the other wonderful things that make like a pleasure to explore. Felicidades e muito amor, da Irlanda.
I’ve stumbled across the channel and have been hooked seeing the older dwellings in that amazing country watching you guys learn things across the way. I wish I could be doing the same thing. You guys keep up the great work!!!!
Great stuff just the memories together are priceless... One thing to remember when building especially structural... Nails are flexible they bend with shrinking of timber and general setting and structural movement screws just snap off then your structure loses integrity...
Just finished the final video on my week long binge of your channel. I like to go back to the beginning when I find a new channel and get to know you properly 😊 Awesome video's, great progress and I look forward to seeing more 😊

Just watched my first of your videos and became a new subscriber. I really enjoyed watching the build of your new outdoor space. I bet it’ll come in really handy. And really like the new work bench with the badass new/used vice
Absolutely loved this video and seeing all that you did in the first year. The charring of the wood is so stunning. Beautifully put together and can’t wait to see a recap of year two 😊 xxx
You are working very hard and I really enjoy watching your show and your progress but what I really appreciate about you is respecting your mother and building her house first. This is really respectful and valuable nowadays. Have a wonderful day and thank you for respecting and helping your mother ❤
Those water levels seem nice in theory but they can be incredibly finicky and imprecise if you're not very careful. Personally I'm sticking to a large level (1m, 3m) for most cases. That 1mm deviation will be compensated by ground movement and wood change over time anyway.
Love your land, it's so beautiful there! The container home is so cute, it looks really cozy in there. You guys are an Amazing hard working couple. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
You guys make an awesome team, and inspire me to keep searching for my dream land and the Queen to be beside me to help me achieve the goal of my own Ranch style homestead! Keep up the great work and stay close for life💪🏾
You are truly inspirational I recently bought a property in central Portugal and you’ve inspired me to try and do more myself xx Good luck with the main house renovation and keep making the videos ❤
You two are such great UA-camrs I wish you were renovating something more incredible. That hour plus video you have on the normal home in the uk was one of the best renovation videos of all time.
Haha. There is no reason to splash on something temporary which by the way was temporary for 2 years. It’s amazing the solutions you can find to just not spend money haha
Local legend has it, the real estate agent after selling this dumpsterfire of a house ran through the streets screaming "They bought, they bought it, my God, I can't believe they bought it!!!" Property is amazing though and I can definitely see your aspirations! Good luck and God bless you!
Nuno is actually a family friend now and my sister's boss, she got a job with the same agency we bought the house from. A estate agent also earns exactly the same commission flat rate of 3,000 Euros for any property below 100K. We are really aware of the housing market here and did plenty of research. Not only on the actual market but also how things work (laws lawyers, housing market, estate agency fees, etc) After looking at how much property has gone through the roof in this country (in our area alone it went up 25% in a year), we are even happier for our luck finding this property which would easily cost 45K now.
@@TheIndigoEscape Yeah... Portugal has become VERY popular in the last 6 years. I was looking at little Fincas in Spain and similar properties in Portugal 10 years ago and the prices have at least qunitupled since... Glad you made the jump in time! Good luck! I highly recommend you watching Kirsten Dirksen's video "Homstead Paradise: got barren land, boosted it at a profit", that video contains Mark Shepard, he talks about restoratation agriculture. Basically he manages this huge plot of land by only growing stuff that worked in that area for hundreds of years etc., would work for your land great too, it's a minimal work effort system. Also interesting are traditional European hotbeds, bees etc.... :D Go wild, have fun!
UA-cam just recomended this video to me this morning and I'm glad it did! As someone with very little experience who wants to do something similar, you guys are so inspiring!

you may use some of the land to grow Miscantus, and install a granular storve. This may provide you heat during winter.

those are seville oranges very sour, and bitter but good for making bitter seville marmalade
Welll done. You have made impressive progress. Thank you for sharing.

Good job you guys !!

Absolutely loved this video and seeing all that you did in the first year. The charring of the wood is so stunning. Beautifully put together and can’t wait to see a recap of year two 😊 xxx

Should sugi ban would also be my first choice for weather protection if I had to redo my garden fence.
Keep up the good work. Nice too see all you've accomplished so far in one video.
Thank you so much!
Love your land, it's so beautiful there!
The container home is so cute, it looks really cozy in there.
You guys are an Amazing hard working couple.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Thank you for your lovely comment and support!
Great job, wish you all the best!! If you need any help in Portugal, I am a real estate agent born in Faro (also Algarve).
You guys make an awesome team, and inspire me to keep searching for my dream land and the Queen to be beside me to help me achieve the goal of my own Ranch style homestead!
Keep up the great work and stay close for life💪🏾
Thank you! It has taken a while to get there but it is definitely doable. Just take your time finding the right place and then take it from there ❤️
Any chance that really sour citrus is Seville Oranges? They are generally used for making marmalade, not for eating fresh.
You two are hard working team. Best wishes and enjoyed your video.
Thank you!
Really enjoyed seeing all your hard work
Love your videos, I have been following you since your first one!
