Da allora, ogni compositore che si rispettasse, come sinfonista, iniziò la propria carriera con la composizione di una "Partita" (Petrassi nel 1926, Dallapiccola nel 1932, Margola, ecc.)

This partita for piano and small orchestra adopts clearly a neoclassical style, but without any of these 'return to....' that Stravinsky developed at that time. This does not mean that Casella was not influenced by the stravinskian idiom, but not in that servile manner. The "opposite" influence of Mahler" was also very important for him. IN that score dating from 1924, where the virtues of the 'smell' orchestra is recognized, Casella found a way of his own, not so far from the conteùmprary Frech school but without Cocterau's pernicious influence. This partita is firmly constructed, its style is coherent, full of energy. It is a pleasant and roborative work that Casella proposes to us here.
