Yes it does. They were contemporaries. Casella’s style is usually more gnarly and muscular than Respighi but in this piece he adds some sweet late romantic orchestral details that remind one of Respighi.

Ma che anticipa! Il Naso è del 1930. La donna serpente del 1932. E ancora prima, nel 1921 c'è L'amore delle tre melarance di Prokofiev. Con una differenza abissale tra i russi e Casella. I russi fanno teatro musicale. Casella è indifferente alla situazione teatrale.
