I appreciate the epicness of this scene, but I preferred the interpretation that the bugs were responding to an expansive empire and were defending their home.
headphones were a mistake for the metal scraping sounds at the start design was cool, but it was much better when the bugs simply just better at defending their homes better and were victims of man's stupidity
Between 0:32 and 0:48, they play the exact same sound 6 times in a row, no pitch shifting or anything an editor would do. They even try to reverse it at 0:39 before playing it again at 0:40. This scene isn't too horrible, the monster is actually awesome and doesn't look bad, but that awful sound, though. It's like a live action interpretation of a PS1 cut scene.
This is supposed to be the "Brain of Brains" basically the Emperor Bug. The planet they're on is hinted to be the ACTUAL Bug homeworld and this guy leads all Queens and Brains telepathically.
I know it’s a movie but just for the sake of debate it’s technically impossible. It’s massive how much would it have to eat per day to stay alive. That being said it’s supposed to be the planet itself that’s how big it is lmao is there even anything left on the planet for it to eat?
Perhaps the reason the arachnid planets are barren is because this bug has been sucking the life of all plants and animals on the surface. Maybe it doesn't eat in the traditional sense but absorb energy through other means.
You know bugs eat other bugs right? Chances are (since they reproduce is such large quantities) the planet eats the rest of anything that dies(or alive) Circle of life type of way
If it's that massive it's unlikely it will eat like an animal. Either a form of photosynthesis like plants using sunlight. I guess if it's planet size it might have a nuclear core like earth and siphon energy directly from that. Of course there also reason to the limit of an exoskeletal physiology making the size of even the warrior bugs pretty impossible if it are true bug.
you do realize that basically all the victims were men, except for that one hot chick that the alien inhabited from the begining of movie...pretty sure there's an moral story here. but i don't wanna seem sexist.
Yeah. Men are expendable, f*ck 'em. Losing a single wahmen is a monumental tragedy, protect them and their precious feelings at all costs. That's the long and short of it.
Is it still? Seen it in HD lately and it looked utterly cheap. Wondered what happened to the bloodfest with the great visuals I remembered from VHS back then.
Behemecoatyl? Sounds like a combination of Behemoth and my last part of my name. Serpent. On that note. Given what we know of StarShip Troopers. At least the Lore of Paul Vehovens version, we know the actual bad guys are actually the Federation. As they initiated the war and attacked the bugs first. Behemecoatyl likely would have been in any other situation likely been benevolent perhaps peaceful although its hard to tell with the arachnids who's sense of morality is extremely orange and blue compared to the twist black and white of the Federation. He was willing to initiate verbal communication so he was indeed capable of being reasoned with. Plus he was technically honest.
The games are very lukewarm too from what I've seen. Helldivers 2 does it better... But Roughneck Chronicles is great. Invasion was good from what I remember. And I never watched Traitor of Mars.
If this was the Starship Troopers from the books, they would have just shot the guy the minute they suspected him of being the mole.
My favorite line from the book:
"The puppy never got his spanking, therefore what he did w/ pleasure & success, must be moral."
The dude playing the Marshall was one of the few good parts of this movie. Also seeing Casper as Rico was great.
Serious Lovecraft themes with this scene. Man driven to madness and effectively worships an Old One.
wow, they really only had the budget for one "tearing metal sound" huh
I thought "they won't use it a third time...oh, well they reversed it. Oh, there it is again"
The CGI was soooo bad
@@mammon_is_god They turned the volume down on it when they used it a 5th time lololol, they knew.
The only good bug is a dead bug! Would you like to know more?
It could have been worse, it could have been the Gravemind from Halo and assimilated everyone like John Carpenter’s “The Thing”
My friend keeps telling me the second film is supposed to be their attempt to do the thing
The second I started hearing old 90s Doom sounds, I knew this was gonna be a treat.
hahaha I came looking in the comments for anyone that noticed that as well!
I always wondered what it would take to win the "World's Most Annoying Sound" competition from Dumb and Dumber. Now I know
The bug looks creepy from a visual standpoint. I will say that
The cockroaches in my old apartment were worst. They showed no mercy
You should burn down your entire apartment to save everyone. LOL.

In the book that's certainly what seems to be happening

Not exactly a kid's film. Serves you right, really

the sound design on this is atrocious. could they not afford more than 3 metal tearing sound effects?

The God Bug, the bug that ate to many Big Macs and Whoppers.
What the Hell kind of Bug is that?!!! Is this a mutated Brain Bug?

its amazing how much starcraft series took from this franchise, this god bug looks exactly like the xel naga.

Probably tons of little probing organs absorbing nutrition in the soil if the planet.

I doubt a bug roughly 1/5 the size of OM-1 eats like a normal creature.
"The bugs are the good guys"
Funny Trivia: Guy who plays the God Bug Loving Lunatic played Thomas Andrews in the Save The Titanic Documentary.
God this movie was so cringe worthy
I just pretend it has a different ending with that enolo chick being the real bad guy
(2:02) For a moment I thought that this was Joe Pesci
Joe Pesci gunned down Spider so he can gun down a bug
A moment of commemoration.
How can that guy venerate that monster?
By being mental
The brain bug they captured in the 1st movie had 10 or so years to brainwash him secretly
