- I saw the opportunity to pick up a used Fujifilm X-A7 at a reasonable price from someone local. I've been curious about the current state of Fujifilm cameras since my time with the X100F. This looked like a good entry point that I could use for the channel. It's a unique camera in the Fujifilm lineup due to the large wide aspect ratio LCD touch screen with no viewfinder. In this video I go over details on the camera and my personal experience using it so far.

I have this camera and actually chose it over the X-T200 because of the lack of the OVF. The lack of the OVF makes this so small. I paired it with Fuji's XF27mm F2.8 and it's a great travel camera. It even fits in my pocket and doesn't bulge like crazy.

Hey, would you recommend it then? I've been searching for pictures taken on T200 and A7 and it seems like the A7 is very inferior, but it might not be the cameras fault so I'm a little confused.
@@tiliatae I would recommend it if you are looking for something more compact. Many X-A7 users are novices so that could be the issue.
@@IamCorrosive That's what I was thinking, but then again... maybe they are mostly novices cause the ones with more experience don't really find X-A7 that interesting. The size is not a problem since I've been using Nikon D3100 for 7 years 🤭 both of them are way smaller than mine, so it's an upgrade anyways. I might go for X-T200 since the price difference is just about €80. Thank you for your help 💜
@Brenda Carneiro you can adjust the light while taking pictures. He didn't do this. He chose the dark side it takes great pics
The fact that this has a flip screen compared to expensive models Amazes me. Great for selfies and low to the ground shots. ❤️
I have this too, love it. You know that you can adjust the brightness on your photos before taking the picture, just slide the graph up or down try it. You missed many great features on this camera it also takes great portrait pictures and has many filters. The battery is a 8.6 on a 10 scale but I dont know anybody that doesn't take 3 batteries when they go out to take pictures, they charge slower than I like but you charge up earlier.

I have the green version and love it. A great vlogging camera. I also use it for nighttimeMilky Way astrophotography Timelapse.
I sold mine, its nice and responsive, but i couldnt get over the cheap plastic feel of it. And feels unbalanced with my xf fuji lenses, but more balanced with the last plastic ic xc lenses...
just sold my fuji xe3 due to usage, now planing to this and paired w/ 3rd manual lens 1.1f , woud be great ;)
I've heard that performance mode is not the default so a camera model can achieve a higher CIPA battery life rating.

I bought one second hand (as good as new) together with the 15/45 kit lens for £325....I find it quite fun and a useful supplement to my x100 series camera
Agree with the X-T200 comments. It is too close in pricing for the X-A7 to make sense for most buyers.
The xt200 is selling for almost double right now. The A7 is enticing rn
I have xa7 so nice camera and very handy.
Mine the audio sucks even with a powered mic that sounds great on my other cameras. Also I had to add a washer under the tripod mount screw, the thread depth is too short. It takes nice pictures but waiting on an audio recorder I ordered to try and video with it, the audio is just too bad!
I do wish Fuji continues this line. After using a Sony ZV-1 I do think there’s still a market for it.
The ZV-E10? Yeah, they are somewhat similar. I didn't keep this camera too long due to having too much other gear in different mounts that worked a bit better for my needs, but it was pretty nice overall.
I got this camera new and really like the size and IQ. The kit lens is great (much better than Sony kit), I use this combo when I don't want to lug my 16-35 GM (mostly a Sony shooter). However, I am having an issue recording video - there is no audio using the internal mics. I posted about in Fuji forums but no luck. Do you have any suggestions?
I didn't keep this camera long. I don't remember much about it.
1. Get a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter and connect an external microphone to the camera to see if that works. If the internal microphone is physically damaged then this should work instead.

3. Maybe your computer doesn't have the correct codec to play audio. Obviously this would only be the case if you do hear audio while playing back a recorded clip in the camera.
It is strange that it was working at -17.2°C. I think this is remarkable and I didn't see any mirrorless at this price point is working well in autofocus segment when shooting at 4k.
I've used my M50 in colder temperatures. Usually the battery is the thing that limits how long its possible to do. This camera is pretty nice, especially at a good price used, but I ended up selling it because it's similar enough to my other gear and I don't want to put money into x mount glass. For someone interested in fujifilm maybe a decent entry point.
Not surprised, after 4 shots the buffer is full, no evf, not enough physical controls, just get an a6000 or a gx80/85 for 25% less

@@rushiashtikar JPG's straight out of the camera look better on the Fuji. And they have those cool film simulations, but the cheaper models like this XA7 are missing some and you can only save 1 custom film recipe because they don't want you to have the full Fujifilm experience. If you get the Sony A6000 and shoot in Raw you save a whole lot of money and you can get the free Capture One Express Sony edition let it just automatically fix color temp, sharpness, contrast, highlights, lowlights, etc. 95% of pictures end up perfect with that automatic fix feature. It can process hundreds of pictures at the same time, so it's a one click thing and you just wait a bit and all your pictures look amazing. Not any worse than the Fujifilm pics. But the Fujifilm pics do have a specific filmy look. If that's really important to you go for a used more expensive FujiFilm camera, otherwise save a bunch and go for the Sony.
The sensors inside these cameras are probably both made by Sony. Maybe there are slight differences considering the a6000 is older, but I doubt it's worth caring about. I'd buy a camera more based on ergonomics and what lenses are in the system.
Lets be real if you’re buying a small camera like this it’s more for point and shot and simplicity. No one buying this camera wants to mess with software or RAW files. Straight out of camera jpeg colors are 99% perfect with Fuji cameras ready to share.
Dislike from my side, you expect 2000 dollar from a 600 dollar cam. And by the way Its image quality is Way better then CANON ANYDAY, ANY TIME. And its not discontinued.

Hey, so I’m planning to buy my first camera and I’ve been eyeing the xt20 for about 3-4 months now. I’m into photography and will be using it as a hobby and also e my college organization since I’m a part of it. Saw this xa7 and watched some reviews and somehow Im liking it but with the price range, the xt 20 is a little expensive for about 130-150 ish dollars (converted) than the xa7 in my country. I wanna know your thoughts about this two camera and what should I get? Thanks a lot! Hoping for your response.
The X-T20 is better overall and has an EVF. Generally a more complete option to get into photography with.
Though, if money is an issue then getting any camera is better than nothing.
i bought a new fuji camera. somehow cameras appeared in limited numbers in my country. and I managed to buy it in 2021. I'm from Belarus;)

was a good attempt by fuji but the only thing it had going for it was the screen... the Xt200 was better but even that i've seen multiple problems of the base mount being ripped out due to the plastic body.. i still want the xt200 though lol i've heard the sensor is better for astro than the x trans sensor.
I agree there! The X-T200 is more fitting with their market and generally a better camera.

I want to get a camera to take photos of family. I can only afford to get this camera or the canon m200.... which would you recommend?
They are both sufficient. The M200 is easier to use and smaller, but it doesn't have a flash port. If you ever want to use an add-on flash you will be out of luck there.
For someone like me who has shaky hands (hereditary),Do you think I can take decent photos with this camera?
Rizza, you are better off buying a camera with in-body sensor based stabilization. Generally you can compensate for any hand shake with higher shutter speeds, but there are a bunch of things to take into consideration like lens focal length and, in turn, having something like a large aperture and/or stabilization to help still get a high quality photo.

Hello. Which camera is better in terms of photo quality? Canon m50 or Fujifilm x-a7?
I'd consider the X-A7's sensor a bit better at high ISO. Though the one here I sold pretty quick so I didn't have a lot of time with it.
your webcam test seems to be too dark to then detect the face?
wondering if you are still using the camera for other things or maybe sold it for other camera reviews for your channel?
didnt know it was discontinued - it was a surprise to me to find one quite cheap and so am doing some research right now, and it was the A7 that is cheaper than the A5 - and it seems this store i was following got a new batch of A5 models just this month to sell, at a also decent price even though more expensive.
I assume the A7 will still be better? what do you think?
I sold it. Decent camera but with any ILC you basically need extras like lenses to get the most out of it. Wasn't worth it to me to get into Fujifilm with what other gear I have at the moment. The USB webcam functionality is the worst I've used so far in a camera that offers it. Take my opinion on that for what you will. No idea in the A5 besides knowing the sensor was revised between the two models (like the A5 can only do 15fps in 4k video and has fewer phase detect points).

@@JayGrapherTh Depends on if you are going to do long streams or short ones. I don't have experience with long streams and have seen people complain about cameras overheating when they run them for hours or whatever. For normal use I'd say either the Sony cameras or maybe Canon.

The cheapest being the A5100 (ILCE-5100). Probably the best budget option available right now. A step up would be the ZV-E10 or A6100 (LICE-6100).

The cheapest being the M200. It can output clean HDMI and do the USB webcam thing at lower quality. The step up for photography would be the M50 Mark II, but it's no better at webcam stuff. The original M50 can only do the USB method (I have two of these and they work okay but I think it's smarter to get the Mark II because it can do clean HDMI when you want to step up the quality).
Keep in mind that all USB webcam things are lower than 1080p resolution. The original M50 that I've used with USB looks okay doing this, but yeah, it depends on what a person considers good enough.
With either camera you will likely need to buy a DC Coupler/AC adapter so you can run them for longer than a battery can manage.

I use mine in all weather's, extremely windy day yesterday which was minus 2 and worked perfectly well. My local fuji dealer said this was the best-selling camera and still is. So how can you make a statement that it's being discontinued?

I didn't use it long enough to know. You should check other reviews, but I suspect it will "overheat" in some modes.

@@honeybling5228 Ahh, about recomendations... I don't want you coming back on here and complaining to me if for some reason it doesn't work well. haha. That does sound like a good price. One issue I did have with mine was the audio pre-amp didn't sound great with an external microphone. No idea if music videos use the camera audio.

I think the X-T200 is a better buy. It's newer and probably has a few more features like the electronic viewfinder.

Great camera, awesome looks, spectacular image quality, feature packed and too cheap. That's it. I'm the past 5 years Fujifilm has gone thru a fundamental strategic corporation change and become purely just another big corporation interested primarily in lower cost manufacturjng and in high profits gear only. "We listen to our customers, photography first, we are a company that makes happiness" and all the other new BS and lame marketing they throw at everyone's faces, has little to do with the reality of their APS-C pricing being already in the FF realm, them.discontinuing lower profit margin/high-value items, making lower quality stuff and even moving the production of their flagship products like the new X100VI to China so they can make it for less money, sell it for more and flood the market with them. Who is fooling who and where are the doubts? And hey, is all good. Facade hoopla crap aside, Fujifilm is just another company with the sole objective to make money. The XA line was becoming too good and ultimately the X-A7 potentially a danger to their profits in higher-end gear. So they canned it, as simple as that.
Interesting thoughts, thanks for the info! Yeah, the X100 VI got a price increase. I'm editing an opinion video on that camera right now, but didn't get into topics you covered. Industry wide we've seen a push toward less value added per generation. Canon discontinued their EF-M system which was a decent value and is replacing it with the R100 which is an inferior camera in every regard and the R50 which is more expensive than EF-M equivalents.
My Ax7 is sutting down due to overheating. Is this a issue of any settings
Not sure, I haven't used the camera enough to experience overheating. My guess would be to use the camera in 1080p video instead of 4k video to avoid it overheating.

Im not sure what you mean by discontinued.
They don't make it anymore, but of course you can buy it used or maybe old new stock. This might be different for other regions outside the USA.

How much price difference in your country? Because it's a little bit wide in my country, like equivalent of 100usd-150usd.
