Alien and Aliens is the property of 20th Century Fox. This video is uploaded under fair use and I own nothing. (Except a copy of the film on DVD).

Totally agree! The music in this scene is just wonderful....In both 2001 and Aliens it does a great job of capturing the darkness/emptiness of space...Where the hull / life support systems of a ship (i.e. the Discovery in 2001 or this small/fragile shuttle in Aliens) are the only things standing between you and a lonely and unremarked death...

Very nostalgic movie for me. Took a friend to see it in June, 1986 when released. He enjoyed it like I did. Did also see Alien in September, 1979 prompting an interest to see it after I was lucky to catch the film (with an action sequence) advertised on television. Saw it the next day. No internet, UA-cam, or cell phones back then. The movie theater is still there one of the few remaining in comparison to the multiple choices we had back then.

Lived through the 80’s. Movies of course were big. We liked seeing them especially when we had 2 theaters in walking distance. I saw Alien in ‘79 and commented elsewhere on that experience. Let me tell you the films I recall seeing in the theater in the 80’s: Escape from New York, The Wrath of Khan (friend and I - more than once), Aliens, Die Hard, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Twins, Untouchables, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Blues Brothers, First Blood Part 2, and many others. Many more were seen on rentable VHS tape. I lived through all that. It was fun. Yes, this film in here was memorable and I commented on it, in depth, elsewhere. Edit for posterity less I completely forget: I saw this 3 times in the theater in 1986 😁.

Brutal! such a shame the 20th Century Fox logo intro was not included in this impressive vid.... there is a subtle, eerie and masterfully executed omission of the last tone of the fanfare... which sets the tone for the start of one of the best, if not the best, sequels of all time (On par with Godfather Part II, Empire Strikes Back and... Beverly Hills Cop 2 - guilty pleasure).

The entirety of this film is perfect. The music always is perfect for the scene. The introduction and closing credit score has always given the feeling of sadness then slight hope which is part of the way it all plays out after all. The other time the music is perfect in my opinion is when they are escaping in the drop ship and the music is building as they barely escape with it peaking right at the explosion. Fucking perfect is all I can say

    • @strangerthanfiction4014

Yeah the escape is great great! Other peak music is when they drive to the ap station (really foreboding), when ripley finds newt under the bed (Theme, sorrowful and hopeless, cutting to the overloading ap station) and when they escape in the ducts (driving and maybe the most Majestic drums ever).
