It’s the DC02 that got my interest in vacuum cleaners! What you said reminded me so much of myself! My late mum was a cleaner and one of the houses she cleaned, the guy bought a Dyson DC02 in early 1997 I think. I remember seeing the dirt collecting and spinning in the cyclone and always being fascinated by it and how fine dust collected in the ‘cone’ area and unused to like to ‘wipe’ the cone with the cyclone seal that sat in the bin of the DC02. I was also fascinated by the pitch of the motor as it sounded different from others of that time. It was my visit to Allders department store where I saw the mini book on a Dyson DC01 and DC02 with the story of the Dual Cyclone Technology and James Dyson info! It started off a big fascination for Dyson ever since for me. I think James Dyson is a little arrogant, but all always admire how he started up a big massive company and how he changed the vacuum industry as well as many others. I find my V15 fun to use. I def notice the drop in quality and thickness of Dyson parts over the years, which affects durability and I’m not happy that the battieries do not last a long time on carpets and their overall lifespan is not long if the machine is used daily to clean the whole flat and it feels ber fragile, but I do enjoy it. I’ve enjoyed every Dyson product I’ve owned.
I like all the old Dyson vacuum cleaners past and present it takes you back to memory lane and I like the old Dyson in there original box and never been i hope they last for a long time just like the other old made vacuum cleaners but is my favorite one now
They are such a classic piece of iconic history, they had such unique character and they worked better than a lot of other vacuums in their time! I definitely agree. Such lovely machines
I had a Dyson Dc01 upright vacuum cleaner it was the light blue one from the the mid 90s and I was just in my early teens when the Dyson Dc01 upright and Dyson Dc02 cylinder
Nice machine. I've noticed some YDK DC01 to be high pitched and some to be normal. I agree about the YDK being a better motor on the DC01. I recently refurbed a DC01 and when I tested it, it lifts the carpet and felt stronger.
Oh I forgot to mention too that the hoses discolored like that as I can imagine they were stored in cold environments with a bit it dampness perhaps. Your unboxing brought back memories of my DC04 unboxing in 2002. I was always fascinated by that clutch mechanism on the DC03 and DC04! I found that the belts could last, but really start to slip and the brush would just stall on a thick carpet and the safety ratchet noise alert would not come on
This was peak Dyson era tbh colourful reliable and simple compared to their newer stuff I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again I’ve used the 03 04 07 14 27 and I’ve gotta say in my opinion the 04 is the best performing
That DC04 Absolute you have there is a very early on when there first transferred manufacturing to Malaysia as the wheels are the DC01 ones like you say, they changed to rubber wheels that were on the original DC04’s. not sure why they did that. I had a Malaysian made DC04 that I got in 2002 and it has rubber wheels. At 14:02 the machine second to the right is the Hoover Vortex. At 11:55 I still think the SEBO X1 at the time was more advanced than the Dyson. At 13:11 I don’t agree with their claim of lifetime belts as the DC03 and DC04 machines I had suffered from slipping belts, which meant when the brush roll got caught up in something the Ratchet warning never worked anymore. I also used a DC14 that was quite a few years old and the belts were slipping BADLY and it wasn’t cleaning very well at all. Dyson made some very bold claims that were not true. They were still very basic when compared to a SEBO X1. I too feel nostalgic looking at these machines as I was at school when these were available! I was young and worry free! I forgot to mention that the wand plastic on the latest DC04 Absolute should have a Polypropylene plastic and the older ones have an ABS plastic handles. The ABS plastic ones were prone to cracking and breaking, polypropylene is cheaper and also more ‘pliable’.
Oooh it’s a Hoover vortex!! Why didn’t I think of that 😂 thanks! Now that you mention it, that is so true! The Sebo X range was very ahead of their time with their bag full indicator, electronic automatic height adjustment, brush jam indicator, removable brushbar, a proper torque clutch and overall design! The belts on my 1998 DC04 are very old, takes a few minutes for the belts to warm up and then the brush spins at a decent speed, whilst the belts don’t really snap, you’re right that the belts do need replacing right work optimally like new I quite like the DC14, I think that’s my favourite old school Dyson 🤩 I do prefer the newer polypropylene pliable plastic as opposed to the ABS plastic which easily cracked, even back in the early 2000s I seen DC01s with physical damage to their plastics despite being relatively new machines back then
mashallah wow! these look phenomenal such beauty... I saw these on ebay a bit ago and glad they have gone into good hands 🙏🙏🙏🙏 fantastic addition to the collection brother
@@parwaz7861 I can imagine, can’t wait to see them on test the DC01 takes me back to the 90s when my mum ditched her Electrolux contour for it, she didn’t get on too well with the DC01 though.
@@parwaz7861 I’ve cleaned it up a bit now but it still smells like me after rugby practice 😭 I swear someone must have used this outside! The filter had to be washed FOR E V E R because it kept producing this horrible blackish-brown goo⁉️⁉️⁉️ Anyway. Awesome video man, these machines are incredible! I’m way too young to have experienced these beauties so it’s amazing you’ve captured them on film. Try using the DC01 as your daily for a week then vacuuming with a Gen5 Detect and seeing what it picks up! The full evolution of Dyson!
@@mach1nefan You play rugby?! That’s well cool!! As for the filter I recommend unclipping the 3 clips and pulling the outer cloth off, the filter gets dirty on the inside and dirt usually builds up in there. Thank you so much I’m glad you enjoyed the video! ✌🏽I think your idea is really good about using the DC01 and then a modern Dyson after, my V15 head needs replacing as I’ve got a v11 head on it however lol but I could use the Ball Animal possibly since that’s the final corded upright from Dyson!

YDK DC01s are actually pretty powerful when they're all cleaned out, it's surprising

I want to buy that NOS dc01! If you were to sell it how much would you sell for
All of these machines are from the 2000s but they are very nice
The dc01 is most likely 1999
Bro, DC01 and DC04 are 1990s. DC04s were made in the early 2000s as well.
@@CORNERofTECH DC01s were made 1995-2000 and DC04s were made 1998- around 2006/2007. I'd class any dual cyclone Dyson 90s vacs.

My DC01 has that clear hose and has the yellow serial number dating it from 05/06/1998. Is that an early one or a later one? It's also YDK.
It has the date and features of a later DC01 so it definitely is a late model
It's a late one if it has a clear hose
Super lucky! I want!
can you do the hoover windtunnel air mate?
I’d love to however we didn’t get those in the UK :(
