- Today I discus the Tokyo City Exclusive fragrance Gaiac 10 by the niche perfume house Le Labo. This is a city exclusive fragrance that can only be purchased from a Le Labo store in Tokyo but for the months of August and September Le Labo are opening their doors to allow you to purchase a full bottle of your favourite Le Labo City Exclusive. But does Gaiac 10 (Tokyo City Exclusive) deserve the praise and accolades it has received?

The smell is quite minimalist. Just like Japanese, i think that is why it's Tokyo City exclusive? They love simplicity 😉

It also doesn’t interrupt other peoples lives. Politeness is a religion over there. No one talks on public transport because it interrupts other people. It’s also not that common for people to wear fragrances. So if think this fragrances does well to suit the city on a couple levels.
Good vid, mate. Pretty much nailed it but I must admit I still am tempted to pick a bottle up - just that opening is something I really enjoy. Would love to see a vid on Bigarade 18 👍

Oh mate I was very disappointed with gaiac 10. It started off horrible and after an hour on my skin it lightened up and smelled better but not enough for me to pull the trigger and purchase it. I liked poivre 23 better but I had a feeling it wasn’t long lasting. I believe le labo’s best fragrances are Another 13 and Tonka 25!

Again, body chemistry and the environment you are in plays a huge role on how this will wear and dry down. This is by far the best perfume I have ever worn. It’s minimalistic and not overwhelming.
Cant agree more. It's subjective. To me it's signature worthy. I'm a simple guy thet looking for a clean woody scent wnd found gaiac 10 is the best fit. It's one of my best scent ob my collection

Yeah I think that is probably why I was a little underwhelmed. I prefer louder scents to this. Probably why I am a little disenchanted by Molecule 01 as well. But I can definitely see why people do enjoy this one. Thank you, really glad you liked the review!
I have Gaia 10, Santal 33, Aventus and Green Irish Tweed. Gaia 10 is the best imo, it smell like I am in an art museum and not just Tokyo, but reminds me of Omotesando and Daikan-Yama. Haven't tried Another 13 tho.

I have used another 13 as a daily for a while. I love it. Thinking of getting Gaiac 10 now as well.
Body chemistry plays such a huge part in these fragrances. I have no real favorites with le labo but I do have many dislikes like S.33, yuck...smells like NYC pickles. I am a NYer and I don'twant to smell like one. ...but THIS one, ugh...i absolutely love it. It is not in your face, very subtle but very present. Clean but not like laundry. Musky but not dark. As I do with all scents...try them first.
Great review. I have anOther 13 but to me there's something extremely clawing in the scent, I don't know what it is. I'd love to hear a review on Aldehyde 44.

This is literally my signature scent. It’s gives a nice trail of sparkly warmth. So unique yet so familiar in a parallel world type
my top choice from Le Labo, it smells like the wooden bath tube in a Japanese hot spring and the wooden floor of a small temple.
It's possible maybe in Japan people likes more suttle lighter scents. I visited there before don't remember anyone wearing fragrance.

I loved this scent and wore it for a long time, however, the longevity was short and now with the price I think I’ll look for an alternative. Any suggestions for a good replacement?

I purchased a sample of Gaiac 10 and was soooooo underwhelmed. Who would pay $480 USD for 100 ml of this scent? I LOVE Musc 25 and do have a bottle of it. I’m trying Mousse De Chenne tonight. You have such a “make out with me” face. 😘
Yeah it’s just so expensive for the overall experience of this fragrance. Not really my cup of tea. Mousse De Chenne is absolutely incredible! LOVE IT!

This was TOO grassy for me.. it literally smells like lawnmower trimmings.

Maybe Gaiac 10 just didn't vibe with you, just like I did not vibe with another 13. They are both relatively light on my skin compared to others in the brand, but gaiac did develop something more on my skin. That is just my personal experience tho, and I've been to Tokyo and Japan a couple of times, I've been obsessed with Japanese products and Japanese culture, I do feel like Gaiac 10 could be symbolized to be Tokyo. The first time I tried it on my skin, it spoke to me and i was like, yeah that's the feeling and the impression of tokyo in my mind. But anyhow. that's just my personal interpretation of Gaiac 10 tho. Just like i would say Mousse de Chene 30 personally to me is the impression of strip club.

I did not doubt that i was missing something from this fragrance considering how many people do like the scent. Really interesting about what you said with the culture of Tokyo. Definitely a variable I had not thought about before. I have Mousse De Chene on my list to review as I absolutely love that fragrance.
Hi! Great video, thanks for the review. Gaiac 10 smells nice for me & lasts well on my skin. I was in London last year & distinctly remember the smell of Poivre 23, it was so nice, would you say Gaiac 10 is a good one to try first, then move onto Poivre 23? Or is there another one you'd prefer? Thanks for the help!
Hey, thank you so much for your comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah I would say Gaiac is the most tame fragrance out of the city exclusive fragrances. But it is also the weakest in my opinion. Poivre is definitely a lot more distinctive.

I love the base notes on this sent. Many compliments wearing it but only after it’s been on me after a few hours. If I didn’t give it a chance I would have never purchased it but I’m in love

I love this Japanese smell 10 . I went into Shoreditch redchurch st. I went back to buy it. And was told No we only sell this in September. Oh ,ok so I got ,another 13” not as happy so, but I found a Russian store and bought it from them . 🤗 oh yeah and 27 Fluer D’orange. Not your typical man smell . But what’s that. Lol. Thanks for this video .ps Giaic 10 hit me 20 mins after spraying. So I bought the 100 ml

how does this compare to byredo supercedar?
I don’t actually own supercedar but from what I can remember they smelt similar. Gaiac was fresher but byredo had more longevity and projected a bit further.
