The Breda cars these Siemens units replace should have lasted 40 years. The fact they barely made it 20 years is a testament into how the Muni Board is run. How will the SF taxpayer be credited for the abysmal depreciation schedule and damage the Breda units caused? We were sold a stale bag of goods.
Those Breda cars were the biggest pile of shit ever. The doors even fell off the tracks. Now Muni even wasted more money upgrading those with the new CAD/AVL only to scrap them.

@@transitvideosbayarea It is a Metro! They’ve been steadily doing upgrades to make it a metro for decades now. Even with the current setup it’s mostly a metro even though it has sections where it’s still more streetcar. But those are all scheduled to be upgraded eventually. And with the new Central Subway opening it will be a lot harder to argue that this is not a metro.
It's a multi-route light rail system that runs underground like a metro downtown and beneath some of the city's major hills, and on the surface like a streetcar in outlying neighborhoods.

Wow! I didn’t know that! It’s brand new light rail cars. It’s so beautiful!!
This is pretty awesome! I miss the old Boeing cars though. And all the doors that were out of service haha
I love these things. I sat in the cab on number 2009.
This channel is just too good to have only 688 subs
feels like they updated the doors as they seem to open/close so much faster

Me And My Grandpa And Grandma We Rode On The New Siemens Muni Train From West Portal To Embarcadero And Back.
Did u record this before the Twin Peaks Tunnel closed for maintenance?
The tunnel closes for two months starting June 25th. Since the upload date is June 14th, yes.
These things remind me of those old german Duewag Trams.
Well, they are a Siemens S200 so you’re not that far off the mark really.

The number of seats is abysmal relative to the length of the car, almost makes the IER cars of 1911 look plush! And they weren't plush.
SFMTA is trying really hard to convince riders that this is a "metro". Hence the metro/ subway styled longitudal seat layout.

never seen it where u have to request a stop usally thats only on busses
This is because when a train is running on surface, you push stop request before arriving at your destination
