BART should look into getting platform digital signs like MUNI has replacing the current red letter signs. With the new signs, the route would be displayed with a colored shape to indicate the color of the route.
It's interesting that they do that; they must have to deal with varying platform heights. The newer generations of trains on the Chicago L have a similar system since their platform heights aren't super consistent
No way! Those are awesome! There's technically three separate systems. This is the Muni Metro which is supposed to be a faster tram-train like service, or light-rail. Then there's the Historic Streetcars which run on their own separate routes. And then there's also the SF Cable Cars, which are cable-driven and incompatible with the first two systems. I actually hope that they will expand all three systems. They're all useful in their own ways, for their own types of trips.
Ok, so these trains are cool and all that, but I have one gripe with them and the S70s - the VF drives sound stupid! Right as the train starts moving, the VF drive squeals and sounds like it can’t get the motors running. It’s not a very cool sound, and I wish they sounded more like the Alston Citadis Spirit trains.
That was a temporary solution to a temporary problem with the couplers on the new trains. They run two-cat sets and are testing three-car trains right now.
@@GalenlevyPhoto The stations were built for that very purpose. During the years of the Boeing LRVs before the Advanced Train Control System was installed in the Muni Metro subway (1980-1998), those trains could and would triplicate and quadruplicate underground heading downtown from West Portal Station for the K, L, and M, and at the entrance to the Duboce Tunnel for the J and N. Only when the Bredas came into being with Muni and the ATCS was installed did the LRVs stop containing more than two-car trains due to mechanical issues with the cars.
As an SF taxpayer, can I get a refund for funding the boondoggle of the dysfunctional Breda cars which had to be replaced 20 years before their forecast lifespan? The loss of capacity due to their weight and the road damage caused by their weight should be factored in too. I love the new Siemens rolling stock but people responsible should forfeit their city pensions for approving the Breda contract.

BART already started installing those new signs. Saw them the other day at Lake Merrit. Very nice new digital signs. Much better than the old ones!
These things are crazy quick accelerating
I enjoyed my trips to SF and found the muni to be very convenient
I LOVE new muni trains!
If you watch carefully, you will notice how the Siemens LRVs kneel slightly after the doors close at the platform before heading off into the tunnel.

Interesting
I like how the SF Muni Tram Bells Sounds Like especially Siemens S200 LRV4 but it looks like a tram not a train
yeah it’s light rail so its pretty much a tram
I sincerely hope San Francisco is not discontinuing the operation of their vintage trolley cars 😥

Technically the one car trains are a Married Pair of 2 separate cars, so Muni is wrong on that one
Why don’t they add more than one car ?

The station looks like it could fit 4 car train sets but doubt it will fit at stations between street blocks at grade level.

@@munimathbypeterfelton6251 Imagine if the LRV4s would continue that tradition, doubt they would but still would be cool.
11:10 why did it do a dingle?
To alert people that it was going to turn.
7:13 what on earth is she wearing on her leg???
