bro, this guy says he loves magic and claims in some videos he loves the cards and artworks. these artworks are only to appreciate cause of the artist that made them. this is one of the coolest collections ive seen with the signed cards. i dont even care about the table cards much tbh. but how can you love the game, have millions of boxes already in your basement, and then not get these foils boxes^^ fuck the new cards in there, there was enough old foils signed that will be one day worth more than a naked card. cause people will forget who these people of the original art even were.
Since you mentioned that some people didn't like this video series, dropping in to say that I loved these videos! These have been some of the most interesting videos in a while on here, the in depth knowledge you have on pricing, card condition, and market activity is the one of the (many) reasons I come here. Keep it Rudy!
Feel this ended for the best for both guys. Rudy is not the guy to moved signed stuff, he is the high to move high end stuff, so he took that, and now if the seller can find someone who can move signed stuff, he can odds are beat his original asking price with Rudy.
Guys relax. He's safe from the hurricane. He's said that his house is safe and is designed to withstand CAT 5 hurricane. I think it might be a military building and thus prettttty secure. Also I'm pretty sure he didn't become successful investing in 20 year old cards by not knowing how to keep them safe within a humid hurricane state. Floppy tacos are secure boys and girls.
Here in Germany we often have very strong storms, so we have building codes that only allow for buildings that will survive very strong storms. So to build something like this, just hire an architect from Germany, but i am sure many architects in the USA can also build to these same standards. A while ago a powerful tornado hit a major city here in Germany, only roofs and windows got damaged by a tornado capable of imploding and completely erasing wooden homes. Its all about the steel-reinforced concrete. So yeah, i believe it when he says his building can take it, such buildings are available, just a bit more pricey. Bonus point: All walls, also the inner ones, are bulletproof.
Building codes here are also matched to their environment... coastal areas are supposed to be hurricane proof, places out west are supposed to be earthquake proof etc. The issue is when people don't follow code or make modifications or keep up with necessary maintenance. Having lived in Germany, I can safely say that while you guys are great builders (many of your buildings are older than our country), you never have to deal with the extremes of weather (like 130mph winds) that some places in the US do.
You don't have hurricanes though. Your most powerful wind storms are about equivalent to a category 1 hurricane (the most minor). It's just not comparable, it's a totally different beast. It's the difference between an inland northern atlantic climate and a tropical climate. If you put a cat 4/5 hurricane in Germany, you'd see massive damage too, building codes or not.
Some buildings are safe. For example, here in Germany we have two storm seasons per year that have a chance of bringing major storms, so our building codes only allow for buildings that can handle major storms. If you want to build a house in the USA in storm territory, you can choose an architect who can design to these standards and get the same protection. My building here in Germany is a combination of steel-reinforced concrete for the main structure and solid brick walls for inner walls. The most powerful storm can only damage the windows and the roof.
Hey Rudy, since your not buying the 4 boxes of cards, you think you can hook me up with that guy or have the guy contact me. I'd be interested in purchasing that if thats cool.
One of the best players in the world if I do say so myself. This is coming from a $1/$2 and like $40 tournament grinder though. You should check out his videos if you like poker, I would HIGHLY recommend them to make you a better player. His analysis is next level and has helped me with correct ranges to assume. (Edited play to player)
The soaring explosion which was the collectibles world. Lions eye diamonds finally settled to 400 470 range they were 6, 7, from jan thru may-ish. All the other mentioned cards were also outrageously beyond.
I was expecting that you'd pay around $30K for everything minus the "bulk" and the signed cards. I feel like I was pretty close in the end because you did end up purchasing the signed lotus, etc. Stay safe in this hurricane, man. We've got tacos as floppy as you could possibly imagine here in the H.
Glad you and the seller found an agreeable price point. I think that he got a great offer at 37.5. I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the buying process and as always your knowledge on MTG cards is impressively informative. Keep it up Rudy :)
Your nice lol. You gave him a great deal and helped him out. Because a normal shop would have went half the price you bought it for or less and that's for everything including the bulk and they guy would have cried and accepted the deal because they needed the miney.
Pleasantly surprised. I thought Rudy was going to say like 30k for the whole thing. 37.5 for the parts that he wanted seem like a great deal for the seller.
I would sit on all the powers and get some graded, glad you got the good stuff! 37.5 sounds a bit pricey for that but.... its only going to go up in value.
it's amazing people know about the lengths others go to in order to fake cards, but some random ass signatures that could be anyone are taken at face value to be authentic and are even given premiums
Rudy , hows everythin over there take care im from Puerto Rico and IRMA, did some disasters here , not as in BARBAROS , That Hurricane its tuff take care I'll be praying so it wont do any more harm peace
I added up quick in my head 10 grand on all the duals and 40 grand on the power I mean the beta lotus and unlimited psa 9 lotus alone is worth 15 grand. What he bought it well worth 50 grand to the right buyers. Now granted how long will they sit on ebay then you got ebay and paypal fees and time spent on listing and trying to sell is it worth it? Then you may have to lower the prices. I am sure he will re coop and make a few grand off this after fees and time spent.
Hey Rudy, can you let us know which cards that you bought in this collection that you're just going to sit on and not immediately sell. I'd like to know your thought process for deciding what to keep and what to unload (gigiddy)
I would pick up the signed Underworld Dreams, I wanna say it's normally 27 from Legends.... but yea I'll keep my eyes open for it on eBay hopefully it gets posted there if not I also can understand that as well
I'm not a fan of signed cards (would rather have the sleeve they're in signed) and definitely wouldn't pay a premium for them but that doesn't mean there aren't people who would. Overall I think your purchase was pretty good though!
yeah i don't understand why people like it, doesn't make sense to me in this hobby, these artists are not famous people like athletes for the most part.
Some artists really are. Of course, a 20 cent random uncommon wont turn into a 30 buck collector's piece if it gets signed, but a very iconic card with a very iconic artist signature will be worth more (to a smaller market, of course)
Something like a Black Lotus signed by Cristopher Rush definitely is a plus. In general, signed cards are a plus, but only to a small part of the community, so not easy to unload, so not worth Rudy's time.
I think it is a 70/30 shot, and here's my thoughts, Power is super hard to move Rudy i know you have more channels to move product like that then I do that's the reason why I'm at the 70/30 split so here you go my thoughts, the Duals are a no brainer pick up definitely with Commander being as popular as it has been those will move quickly, the forces I would pick up again good for commander, the LEDs I would had been in around 40-55 at the highest but demanding the 90 premium I think you did the right thing, as far the cash value i think if you played your hand out correctly you would be able to make an easy 40-45k, the bulk I feel as if the seller is to high on the price I didn't get to see the contents and when you said 3k I kinda cringed a little, too much uncertainty for me and I go though collections that people bring into me and I am very honest with them about condition and pricing and normally I would buy bulk and see if I can get it with the entirety of what I am buying
L0j1k Well you could always check him out on instagram. A guy there called dailymagicmuse says this is his collection. It may be worth going through there to see if he's interested in selling any of his cards direct.
Cards with dead people's signatures will only go up in value, but it might be a long term investment. Out of interest, given this was a big investment, how quickly do you want to flip it? I'm thinking that if you don't flip it soon you might have liquidity issues. Though you obviously have lots of stable income from other sources.
We're the bulk rares and "all or nothing" situation? If not, I wonder if Rudy would have bought chunks of them if they were sorted better...even just by set would have been better then nothing.
Hey Rudy..how do you feel about Sports and More on EBay, which DUMPS every new Magic box..I think they have ixalan at 83 bucks a box..great way to ruin the value of a product eh?
Pretty sure he was buying a lot of those cards as a long term investment (5-10 years) and not looking to "flip" them in the short term. Flip the ones he doesn't want to get 10-20k back, and end up with 11k invested in specific cards he likes. Buyer probably didn't need the money and wasn't going to let things go cheap, so Rudy made a play to get what he really wanted and offset that by bundling them with some other cards he can offload at a premium. Plus he might have a ton of stock of the ones that were in the other boxes, and is still trying to offload those from investments he made 5-10 years ago.
that seems ridiculously high what you paid.. .valued at 51,000 based on the sellers evaluation, take probably 5k off for the 4 box's and 3k+ for the 3 playsets of lands, take off another 3k for the box's, probably another 1k or more for the other random singles sending back. thats 51,000 - 12,000 (roughly) so for 39,000$ in cards you paid 37,500k nice juicy 96% rate. you know what you are doing better than I do just seems like an insanely high % lol
I think you underpaid, but thats just my opinion, and you are by far the more experienced with this stuff, I gotta ask though, the bulk boxes, were they in any order, what a nightmare trying to price that stuff when its all over the place.
Way more than I guessed at $28500. That being said though, I anticipated the buyer and you not being able to come to a price on a few more pieces of power
Wow, Rudy just paid someone enough for them to do something like put a down payment on a house. In fact, I hope that's exactly what the seller is doing. Just imagine, after many long years collecting cards, playing games, and then at some point you decide that your time invested into your hobby has come to a close and you move onto bigger ventures in your life. Maybe the seller bought his first booster 20 years ago. Maybe it was 15, or 10 or even 5. Really puts into perspective what participating in a game revolving around paper cards can do to enrich your life. From one booster to helping you buy a house. That's what I'd like to think, anyway. Maybe the seller is probably gonna blow it all on hookers or drugs or tacos and I'm far too optimistic lol
I'm just thinking the boxes would have made for some cool repacks. Just with the random stuff in there. But again, you probably have enough of that stuff in bulk that it isn't worth. I personally think you overpaid or got roughly market value.
"I'll tell you what I'll do... I'll give you what you want. But you'll pay it back at ten percent interest, and thereafter I'll get a two percent royalty in perpetuity." Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank.
If I were a store, I would try to minimise the amount of signed cards I purchase. I find that only a small percentage of people actively like signed cards. I'd expect about $42,000 return for a $4500 profit.
Honestly 37.5k for what you got...the other 13.5k you guys were off vs what was getting sent back is probably the better part of the deal. I would buy what was left for close to 13 no issues. The boxes of "bulk" has a higher upside short term. After the time put into selling that stuff you'd come close to paying for the other part you did want.
Those cards have a ton of headroom; lots of them could go to 10-50 no problem in a couple years. The trick is efficiently moving them around, but tech is helping and in a couple years it will be peaking. I think this deal might be ideal for the seller, since he got full value for the mature cards and still can speculate on all the unique ones!
Missed by 1.5k on the low end, you could have some particularly interesting things on the "bulk box" and that's why I took them into consideration. Posted my guess on the 1st video if I'm not mistaken, or on the 2nd one. ALSO, Rudy?pointing out to an Emerald calling it a Jet? FAKE FAN. FAKE SELLER, STAY AWAY FROM HIM. x'D
You payed too much in my opinion. My offer would be about 27-28.000 included the 4 boxes which have probably the best stuff to sell. Pack 9 and duals are great but most of them in bad condition. Thanks for sharing the videos, are awesome.
I think you will make money at that price point. I really doubted you would come through and make a deal that was fair for both parties, given the negativity on the collection and time spent knocking down conditional and sellabiliity. Additionally, the sale felt extremely biased toward stuff you would decide to keep.
Seeing this in 2021 and...well that was a good buy...missed the boat on the LEDs though!
bro, this guy says he loves magic and claims in some videos he loves the cards and

I didn't know Rudy lived near me! :O
We regularly have very powerful storms, you just do not hear anything about it because its routine and the damage is low.
You paid more than I expected, especially considering what was cut out, but I trust your judgement with such things is far far better than mine.
Hindsight and all, but there were like 20 null rods in there, which run around 50 a pop, so those should have been pulled and bought for sure.
THE HURRICANE ISNT GREEN SCREEN RUDY! GET OUT OF THERE
Some buildings are safe. Any chance on an update to this as you talked about? Would love to hear what sold vs sat, and your analysis looking back on it.
Watching in 2024 is even funnier, just the power 9 was worth it for Rudy alone lol
Hey Rudy, since your not buying the 4 boxes of cards, you think you can hook me up with that guy or have the guy contact me. I'd be interested in purchasing that if thats cool.
Funny how I watch urs and rudys videos and u here watching the master as well
VCTRFS hit me up here or on instagram at DailyMagicMuse
haha, now rudy is gonna buy it and sell it to you for more
Holy shit this is your collection Jonathan? Amazing!

Signing a card just ruins it in my eyes
Watching this in August 2020 and laughing at how much the prices have shot up since this video. I have a death grip on my graded duals!!
What happened 5 months later was fuckin nuts
@@professormancaptain4210 tell me more! I don't even remember making this comment.
The soaring explosion which was the collectibles world. Lions eye diamonds finally settled to 400 470 range they were 6, 7, from jan thru may-ish. All the other mentioned cards were also outrageously beyond.

Stay safe in this hurricane, man. We've got tacos as floppy as you could possibly imagine here in the H.
I loved this series. Please do the follow-up, and I'd enjoy seeing the same thing for other collections
Glad you and the seller found an agreeable price point. I think that he got a great offer at 37.5. I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the buying process and as always your knowledge on MTG cards is impressively informative. Keep it up Rudy :)
Don't get blown away by a hurricane Rudy
Alpha Investments O Great Denver #FloppyTaco
It was a fair purchase I think. Those boxes would have meant soooooo much sorting and checking. was a nice series to watch how you decide.
Your nice lol. You gave him a great deal and helped him out. Because a normal shop would have went half the price you bought it for or less and that's for everything including the bulk and they guy would have cried and accepted the deal because they needed the miney.
The* and money* for the typos
All cards on the black background in the center will net 40.000 or 10-15% if they are sold outside of platforms
Rudy uploading? Is he in the eye of the hurricane?
Be safe Rudy.
Rudy is the eye of the hurricane.
Rudy lives in an underground bunker made of tacos
Can we get a video on how much you feel you can make from this investment ?
Pleasantly surprised. I thought Rudy was going to say like 30k for the whole thing. 37.5 for the parts that he wanted seem like a great deal for the seller.

Good business call. Can't make money when the cost basis is too high. There is cost on capital as items sit waiting for a buyer.
welcome to the Rudy-Fina water Park "Hose Town"
Rudy , hows everythin over there
take care im from Puerto Rico
and IRMA, did some disasters here , not as in BARBAROS ,
That Hurricane its tuff take care
I'll be praying so it wont do any more harm
peace
Excellent video series, Rudy! This is really indepth and insightful. Please stay safe with Hurricane Irma hitting Florida!
Nice! happy both side agreed on a price! Good luck reselling the cards!
Nice grab, however I will be interested to see if you have problems moving the signed Betas.
Idea for future card-sorting video. ASMR version. Giggity.
Trey ASMR?
crunch9876 Google it.
I would pick up the signed Underworld Dreams, I wanna say it's normally 27 from Legends.... but yea I'll keep my eyes open for it on eBay hopefully it gets posted there if not I also can understand that as well
Was a follow up video done? Just watched these and would like to know if you made any money on the deal?
I'm not a fan of signed cards (would rather have the sleeve they're in signed) and definitely wouldn't pay a premium for them but that doesn't mean there aren't people who would. Overall I think your purchase was pretty good though!
Given the choice i would pick signed cards over unsigned, but i see them as having the same value, so i would not pay a premium.
yeah i don't understand why people like it, doesn't make sense to me in this hobby, these artists are not famous people like athletes for the most part.

Something like a Black Lotus signed by Cristopher Rush definitely is a plus. In general, signed cards are a plus, but only to a small part of the community, so not easy to unload, so not worth Rudy's time.
If they are mint I would prefer them unsigned. If they are played give me the scribbled one :D
Good job in blowing the conclusion in the title. Nice man
that aboria is kewl. met the artist. won't touch magic cards with a ten foot alligator.. never mind a pole.
meh. I'd be more into this but all my enthusiasm is perving on consecrated sphinx's lopsided reprint loveliness.
I was way off then, think I estimated 36-38k for everything :P
sol ring is still my favorite art in a card.
Those Bloodghasts just got reprinted :(
to me signed cards hold less value, and my experience with being able to ship them on ebay for more than value of unsigned has been pretty poor
there is no authentication, they are worthless.
3 years later and the cards are worth double now
I think it is a 70/30 shot, and here's my thoughts, Power is super hard to move Rudy i know you have more channels to move product like that then I do that's the reason why I'm at the 70/30 split so here you go my thoughts, the Duals are a no brainer pick up definitely with Commander being as popular as it has been those will move quickly, the forces I would pick up again good for commander, the LEDs I would had been in around 40-55 at the highest but demanding the 90 premium I think you did the right thing, as far the cash value i think if you played your hand out correctly you would be able to make an easy 40-45k, the bulk I feel as if the seller is to high on the price I didn't get to see the contents and when you said 3k I kinda cringed a little, too much uncertainty for me and I go though collections that people bring into me and I am very honest with them about condition and pricing and normally I would buy bulk and see if I can get it with the entirety of what I am buying
I really really really loved this series.
I think that's a pretty fair price, and you are trying to get a profit, so it makes sense.
Rudy definitely offered a fair price maybe he's not as bad as I thought
I need some Null Rods. Can you tell the seller to set up an eBay account?
L0j1k Well you could always check him out on instagram. A guy there called dailymagicmuse says this is his collection. It may be worth going through there to see if he's interested in selling any of his cards direct.

I've never played the game, I have dabbled in some star wars and dbz when I was in grade school. Love the content.
Legacy is such a niche market now not many players will spend that kind of money for the cards, Maybe collectors will buy them.
This aged like fine wine, TCG are a better investment than any stock
We're the bulk rares and "all or nothing" situation? If not, I wonder if Rudy would have bought chunks of them if they were sorted better...even just by set would have been better then nothing.
anyone have an idea what the clear sleeves are ive seen them before just not sure if they are the "double sleeve" or not
Hey Rudy..how do you feel about Sports and More on EBay, which DUMPS every new Magic box..I think they have ixalan at 83 bucks a box..great way to ruin the value of a product eh?
I was thinking $31,000 - $35,000 for ALL of it including the boxes of other cards. ???
Pretty sure he was buying a lot of those cards as a long term investment (5-10 years) and not looking to "flip" them in the short term. Flip the ones he doesn't want to get 10-20k back, and end up with 11k invested in specific cards he likes. that seems ridiculously high what you paid.. .valued at 51,000 based on the sellers evaluation, take probably 5k off for the 4 box's and 3k+ for the 3 playsets of lands, take off another 3k for the box's, probably another 1k or more for the other random singles sending back. thats 51,000 - 12,000 (roughly) so for 39,000$ in cards you paid 37,500k nice juicy 96% rate. you know what you are doing better than I do just seems like an insanely high % lol
Caabooose just means the seller was asking fair prices for most of it
The seller likely got around what he was wanting. He would obviously overvalue his collection for room to negotiate.
Hey Rudy I was spot on your pricing at $37,500 check out my comment from a few days ago when you asked us to guess pricing.
Nice cards
-Cripson114
Very insightful and enjoyable series! Am I late? LOL
I though your where going down further the way it was banged up but a fair price for sure.
Should have bought LED ;)
Ouch... the "Christopher Rush" sig on the Lotus looks so fake...
so your opinion on iconic masters?
Hmm, I'm wondering how much you paid for the show&tells and wastelands, since (in my opinion) the price is unpredictable since the reprint
Did you already put some of these for sale on Ebay?
Very entertaining!..... And educational!
I think you underpaid, but thats just my opinion, and you are by far the more experienced with this stuff, I gotta ask though, the bulk boxes, were they in any order, what a nightmare trying to price that stuff when its all over the place.
Hey Rudy, do you sell some of those USeas? How much are those?
Isn't null rod on the reserve list?
How are you still making videos with the storm raging?
Way more than I guessed at $28500. That being said though, I anticipated the buyer and you not being able to come to a price on a few more pieces of power
Wow, Rudy just paid someone enough for them to do something like put a down payment on a house. In fact, I hope that's exactly what the seller is doing. Just imagine, after many long years collecting cards, playing games, and then at some point you decide that your time invested into your hobby has come to a close and you move onto bigger ventures in your life.

A card being signed totally ruins the card for me and is very offputting to look at but that's just me.
I'm just thinking the boxes would have made for some cool repacks. Just with the random stuff in there. But again, you probably have enough of that stuff in bulk that it isn't worth. I personally think you overpaid or got roughly market value.
i knew a lot of it was going back. i was a bit low though
"You paid too much for this and for that reason I'm out." -Barbara from Shark Tank
Somehow able to be annoying even in comments. I can hear your snarky voice saying this.
Sorry dude, I thought this was unsleeved.
"I'll tell you what I'll do... I'll give you what you want. But you'll pay it back at ten percent interest, and thereafter I'll get a two percent royalty in perpetuity." Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank.
Dirty Birdy lol it's all good.
Waiting on the taco hurricane party video! Rudy running around in nothing but a 12 pack taco box lol
yep, never sell to a wholesaler
I'd say hit around 41 for it after everything
Could've bought approximately 27,000 tacos. Terrible misappropriation of funds
Wow $37k 😳 im sure youll make a profilt Rudy 😊👍
Hmmm... guess it'll be pork and beans for awhile. That's a lotta scratch!
Rudy what did Channel Fireball pay you for the ad.
Rudy searched through those 4 boxes.
Don't let Irma make your tacos get too soggy. Stay safe dude.
Those boxes were awesome
signed cards makes me cringe
Danks Shepherd I feel like each time a card is signed it's ruining a little piece of history.
I think its ok. If you have one signed for you personally but yourw not going to sell it.
bloodghast just got reprinted in Iconic Masters feelsbadman
If I were a store, I would try to minimise the amount of signed cards I purchase. I find that only a small percentage of people actively like signed cards. I'd expect about $42,000 return for a $4500 profit.
Honestly 37.5k for what you got...the other 13.5k you guys were off vs what was getting sent back is probably the better part of the deal. I would buy what was left for close to 13 no issues. The boxes of "bulk" has a higher upside short term. After the time put into selling that stuff you'd come close to paying for the other part you did want.
Just like in real life, lands are the best investment. Give it 1 year and the price will increase by a lot
Todd Courtney hit me up here on Instagram at DailyMagicMuse if you want to talk about the "bulk boxes".
Irma couldn't hold Rudy down !!!!
What is your ebay link? Im looking for that tasty misty rainforest :)
I think you will make money at that price point. I really doubted you would come through and make a deal that was fair for both parties, given the negativity on the collection and time spent knocking down conditional and sellabiliity. Additionally, the sale felt extremely biased toward stuff you would decide to keep.
my wastelands are worth HOW MUCH??? They've just been sitting in my "Cool but never use 'em" pile! lol
Finally this shit is done time for actual videos
amazing price
