It let go at the stbd aft strop splice. It looks like a hand splice wrapped in marlin. This is a good example why we no longer allow hand splices we use mechanical splices, visually inspect annually and shore based proof load test every 5 years. A quality company will just renew all every 5 years the cost and downtime of testing costs more than just replacing everything.
Hopefully there's a less complicated deployment of it in the field. People included. Maybe resting it on a catapult. Everyone climbs the stairs and boards then close the hatch and pull the trigger from inside.. Fuck it. I'd dart out into the air and crash (bracing for dear life) into sea easily when it's life or death.
