Chris Ledoux was and forever will be not only a true cowboy, but also a one-of-a-kind legend of real music. The "Young Guns" scenes fit well and add to the feel and mood of this song. In response to some other replies as to westerns and cowboy music dying, you can't expect a cupcake "me too" generation to follow real men and legends.
he was taken far too young when ever i hear his voice I get a lump in My throat, he has an amazing voice, love to listen to his voice his songs and he looked good as well, I know he is entertaining the heavens now. RIP Chris Ledoux we miss ya cowboy
Ethan Grant Yes he was. Moreover, people forget how corrupt the "law" of the county really was. The sheriff was in the pockets of the rich cattle barons, who treated their hands like dirt and often attempted to (illegally) squeeze out smaller homesteads because they wanted as much graze land as they could lay claim to.
That he was indeed, Ethan. :-) The land that Billy and his gang roamed on was ranch land that was owned by my family, including the land at White Sands. :-)
I have been an outlaw my entire life it's no place to be never got caught to go to prison but whole lot of prominent people want me dead I guess I don't blame them I would hide also if I were them Billy did what he had to no matter what
A few years ago,a man named Pat Garret was running for sheriff of White County Arkansas. I always thought it would have been a rip if his opponent was named William Bonney.
If you go to lincoln , stand in front of the courte house, facing south. Turn slowly to your right and look up on the hill, thats where billy would watch the town. You may feel ure being watched. I did
@@mattwilliams630 Matt, I now live in NM and a granddaughter is coming in May for a visit, I'll take her to Lincoln, she may know nothing of Billy the kid but she does know Young Guns. Ha

Love this song. I've been fascinated by Billy since I was a boy playing Cowboys and Indians. If I remember right they think he was from Indiana or somewhere else in the Midwest.

My step dad Mark grew up in Colorado and he's grown up hearing stories of Billy and the men that rode with him making trips into the Rockies when the heat got to be too much
Whoever asked me if I know Billy the kid was real...Uh,yeahI know that. I just don't think he was totally evil in real life. I think the 10¢ books made him sound much worse in order to sell more books. Does that answer your question?
pete jackson I do see my mistake, and I appreciate your calm and civilized response, and I was just gping by what my pa told me but I apologize for the mistake bo, keep it real -Justin
Ppl get mad at me when i say i dont like country music, but i dont like the country music that is made nowadays, every song is about girls, trucks, and beer if someone makes songs about stuff that is real to them like this, then that is art, just like this song

Amen.
I couldn’t agree more. I wish I could have met him.
We need the spirit of the Kid in New Mexico again....
I grew up in New Mexico, Billy wasn't an outlaw he was defending the ranch hands in the Lincoln county war.
Ethan Grant thank you im do ing a school report on billy the kid no one beloved that

There's 2 less cowboys in this world today it's sad to think of. REST IN PEACE Chris and billy
Billy the kid and doc holiday are 2 of my old west heros
Love the fact they use Scenes from "Young Guns" for this movie. Westerns are a dying movie breed sadly
They live on in the hearts of all us young'ns who saw em
The general will return. It will be nothing like real westerns. Hollywood will twist them to appeal to the times.
Sadly I think you're eather deadon or they will make crap movies in which case they'd better just leave em alone
There’s still a plenty good shows though. Check out The Son or Hell On Wheels.
It's ashame chris ledoux is gone . HE was Hell of a cowboy and a singer . he always tried to do the RIGHT thing . GOD BLESS CHRIS LEDOUX
He put on one badass show. I was lucky enough to see him in concert twice at Billy Bobs in Ft. Worth.
I saw him once there back in 1996. It was the most entertaining concert I ever saw.
Man, I wish I was old enough to have seen him, I was only a year old when he passed away.
Sometimes I wish I could have lived a life like this fast and hard

A young man in the saddle with his coattails in the breeze

Poor Billy Bonney, you're only twenty-one
Pat Garrett's got your name on every bullet in his gun
Each notch you carved on your six-gun's got a bloody tale to tell
You're a mile ahead of Garrett and a step outside of hell
Them fancy clothes you're wearin' and the women in your bed
Can't take away the faces of the men that you left dead
As you ride across the badlands with a price upon your head
Now that wheel of fortune starts to turn
Your reputation's grown 'til it's the biggest in the land
