Such an underrated plot twist. Gives me chills every time. This is one movie that should be punished for spoilers lol. There's obvious signs leading up to it but coming into the movie completely ignorant of the plot is the only way to see it for the first time.
If you’re familiar with any old “the guy getting messed with is actually the baddest guy around” movies; it was a dead giveaway away from the first 10 mins he was gonna be ‘the man that comes around’.
@@dustinlerch9272I totally agree that there were hints that he wasn’t the kind of old man you got away with messing with, but that fact that he’s the kid was a wicked little twist that made me smirk from ear to ear!
If Tim Blake Nelson is in it as one of the main characters, you know he's gonna be a badass. The man excels at playing the quiet looking, unassuming, total badass.
The plot twist was given away in the first five minutes of the film, if you know anything about the old west. The name on the wife's grave gave it away.
There is something about the idea of “what if Billy the kid didn’t die by Pat Garett’s hand” that is just insanely intriguing! Not to mention the brilliant screenplay, acting and directing in this movie!
There are so many clues (especially to the well-read) as to who Henry really was but when the worm turns you're as surprised as his son was at the revelation. Not since Remember (2015) have I been so impressed by a twist reveal.
It wasn't until 1952 or so that historians discovered that Henry McCarty was Billy's real name--until then it was always William Bonney--so no one then knew him under that name. We do now, but a lot of movie-goers probably didn't know coming into this.
Over the years I have given a lot of thought on a matter and after a great deal of deliberation, cross examination and retrospection I have come to the conclusion that Cowboys have a personal contempt for windows.
When Billy comes out with his hands raised and the next minute is one of the all time best moments in film. The whole montage is great but his first shot hits his man square on and on to the next target! Wow just wanted him to kick some butt!
This film should have gotten as much attention as TBN's starring in Buster Scruggs. It just showed up on Amazon one day and I thought I'd take a chance on it same as Bone Tomahawk several years ago. This was outstanding writing: not a wasted moment. More importantly the cast brings that writing to life. You go through my things again...I will *crack* your *crust* and boy didn't you feel those slaps? Mr. Nelson was more unnerving in this as a mild-mannered farmer as he was playing a comic outlaw.
This man had plenty to lose. A son, for instance. He had a whole lot to lose. "Don't push people because you never know who you're fucking with" suits this better. They thought they were pushing around a skinny old man, and instead it turned out to be the devil in disguise.
(WILLIAM.H.BONNEY) a.k.a (BILLY THE KID) was one of the absolute most bad ass and meanest of all the outlaw gunslingers in his time when he was in his prime. And he was so fast with a gun a person literally couldn't keep track of his speed and that's why he was shot in the back because nobody could face him in a fair match and live to tell about it. And what I think is really freaking awesome is that my grandpa on my dad's side of the family actually met (WILLIAM.H.BONNEY) I grew up listening to stories that were told to him from my grandpa. And from what I've been told is that (BILLY THE KID) was a person who u definitely did not want to fuck with especially when it came to guns u would most definitely die no question about it. But (WILLIAM.H.BONNEY) a.k.a (BILLY THE KID) was and still is a hell of a legend among legends same goes for (DOC. HOLLIDAY) and (WYATT EARP) and many more.
the best movie I have seen in ten years and I am not a fan of westerns. I love the supposed underdog showing up the confident lawless one''s. I knew early on who he was as I suppose most people did. Sad ending but suppose it had to end like that otherwise it would be a little too sappy. Good acting all around but especially the lead of old Henry
I had no idea who Henry was till this scene, I got the same feeling when I found out as when Tobey came out of the portal in, No Way Home. I love western movies and watch every documentary including about the life and rumors of how Billy the Kid died.
I must admit I underestimated him as an actor but anybody you can play in Oh brother where art thou and then play a dandy in that one useless western and then play this character that is some acting some absolute excellent acting and to think he played in the hulk as well. a very diverse set of movies and again an excellent actor
True, and it looks like it's brand new, right out of the box. A real period frontier rifle would likely be a model 1873 and look like it's been around the block a few or more times, stock and metal scuffed and worn.

This was exactly my experience. It was an excellent movie overall and the twist was legit.
This film is a hidden gem.
Just saw the Ballad of Buster Scruggs, damn that range of Tim Blake Nelson, he's really meant for Westerns!
This film is so underrated. Every time i get the chills. One of the best modern western movies
Exactly ...well said
Such a sad ending though. Wanted Billy to live.
Totally agree!
One of the best modern westerns. The most underrated actor in history.
Its a little fancy full
Immediately filed this one away as one of the best westerns I’ve ever seen.
It’s up there with Unforgiven, Outlaw Josey Wales and Tombstone.
Thanks, I got some movies to watch this weekend.-
There is something about the idea of “what if Billy the kid didn’t die by Pat Garett’s hand” that is just insanely intriguing! Not to mention the brilliant screenplay, acting and directing in this movie!
No one ever mentions music. A shame
This is basically Young Guns 3.
I've always thought pat garret let him go and came up with a believable story. They rode together and were friends before.
He didn't die by Pat Garret...

I love how the gunfire sounds... it's more realistic than most westerns.
this is how i initially judge westerns, by the realistic gun sounds. Open range also nails the gun sounds
My favorite western since Unforgiven. Absolutely love this film.
I love the non traditional westerns so much this rango and Django are amazing modern western

Very good movie. I wish more people appreciated it. I like how he was trying hard to teach his son a normal honest life.
Alternate ending to Buster Skruggs hits hard 😂😂
Young Guns 3.
That movie, suprised me. With the plot. Just came across the title. And watched it... Great movie.
Underrated...
One of the best scenes in any film I’ve ever watched. I love Billy the Kid movies.
Five Degrees, the last song.... hits so damn hard on this
Just watched this on netflix - surprisingly good. Ending was great. Don't mess with a pissed off farmer, especially a retired gun slinger.
Over the years I have given a lot of thought on a matter and after a great deal of deliberation, cross examination and retrospection I have come to the conclusion that Cowboys have a personal contempt for windows.

"You woke up the Devil."--"The Old Way"
PHENOMENAL MOVIE...I HAVE ONLY SEEN IT ONE TIME...I WOULD WATCH THIS FILM OVER AND OVER....
Respect to writers, directors and producers. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
By far❤ old Henry is one of my top favorite movies 👍 👍
Saw this movie on ppv in an arizona hotel (a nice place - was on vacation) in 2022. Magnificent film.
Absolutely outstanding movie, and today, that's impossible to find anymore.
One of the best westerns ever made...!!
UNDERRATED. My mouth dropped at this point. I was out of my seat happy.

One of the best western movie I watch you can't hide 🔥🔥🔥
This shootout has already became an iconic scene in western movies history.
this is an underrated movie!
Best Western I have seen in years.
I saw this movie in the theater. I did not see the twist coming. As a huge fan of Billy The Kid, I got chills down my spine.
This is a great movie to inspire kids to learn why you should always respect your elders. You really never know who they were before you came along
Watched this on a whim, did not regret it.
the sound when he pulls his pistol from the holster
is a very
real sound.
Never push a man who has nothing to lose !
This man had plenty to lose. A son, for instance. He had a whole lot to lose.

A great western
1. Unforgiven
2. Old Henry
Change my mind…
Jeez, Unforgiven at the top is a good choice, but to have Old Henry beat The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is quite a pick.
Open Range.
So, basically a sequel to young guns. WOOHOO!

After I finish this movie, I’m playing RDR2 again.
In combat take your time steady your shot move position keep calm worked for me
His sons face when they other guy is putting the pieces together is that of a kid seeing his father for what he was for the first time.
Excellent!
Great movie. Enjoyed it 😊
Go BILLY!
such a good movie

I have not seen this movie but it looks awesome
This movie was great
should've left him alone.
The Weeb in me, loves how he holsters his guns like Katanas.
Brilliant movie!
Was Brushy Bill Roberts another name as well?
What‘s the name of the song in the background?
As a believer that Garret didn't dlt 'The Kid' , this fills me with joy.
Good film good twist
Very good movie
1:49 straight up brought the devil outta him...❤

Been wanting to watch it but can't find it. It's not on Netflix
Heck F'n yeah!!!!! What's the name of this movie!!

Was a good movie !!
Great movie!
The soundtrack?
Ahh, I’ve seen this movie and I don’t remember that scene. I thought Henry shot after his brother was shot.
Any idea what this song is?
According to Shazam it's: Five Degrees / Cut - Naraku
@@Ulfsark1602 It's actually Lil Peep x Nirvana - Five Degrees (Miro Edit)
Someone did their homework. 👍🏼
cual es el nombre de la cancion que suena en el duelo
god damn this shit is badass
Newer Model 94, has the safety on the receiver, the armorer should have known better.
Yeah, i think i'd like to see this..
Where can I find this version of Five degrees!!!!
Lil Peep x Nirvana - Five Degrees (Miro Edit)
It's a shame that the 1894 Winchester is a version from the1980's with a crosbolt safety in front of the hammer. Gwyn

Jesus, dude, enjoy the movie
Who the hell cares lol
😂😂😂 Septic tanks and their guns!
Lower budget films gotta spend where it counts. Just use your imagination and enjoy the creativity...
Some Folks U Might Not Want To Find ❤
Is that the same actor who played Buster Scruggs?
