A great video with great advice. The slow mo section contrasting the loop shape with and without the haul was very informative. I thought the loops without the haul looked darn good but the ultra tight, pointy loops with the haul were awsome! You are a gifted teacher and caster.

Thank you, your demonstration was perfect. I have been fly fishing for many years and I use the double haul mainly in windy conditions.
However I was very impressed with your rods action, it doesn't seem to be a stiff fast action rod that many people advocate using for distance
casting, and yet you have the perfect loop size and shape. Would you mind sharing the make and size of your rod.

That is a yellow version of a TFO Lefty Kreh TiCr 7wt. They do not make it any more but you may be able to find some used versions. It was a black rod but they had yellow ones casting instructors could buy. That rod with the orange line show up well on video and for demos. Most of my other rods are quite a bit faster than that one but this one has served me well for many years.

Excellent video! I’ve been watching a lot of your videos recently and have noticed improvement in my casting. I would be interested in a lesson though or some critique since I find I’m not always consistent.
