Yup, the new version of this feeder mount is $756. That's for a feeder that costs about $450--to make it faster to mount. Looks like the "cheaper" original version--at about $300--had some safety issues? Spend a couple minutes searching for "lightweight power feeder for woodworking" and you'll find something cheaper, American made, than the Chinese baby feeder that mounts in seconds without magnets.
I wonder if you were to place a thin layer of rubber directly between the magnets and the tablesaw top, if it would improve lateral holding power? Of course, it's possible that it would have the opposite effect.. and could possibly reduce vertical holding power as well. I feel like it might be a big improvement laterally with only a small loss in the vertical plane. Just a thought!
I used that exact model, or a rip off that looks exactly the same, and used it on a shaper and router table for a while. Totally badass. I loved that thing.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! DUDE, that ICP song is hilarious! "Magnets, how do they work?" gets me every time ahahahahahahahaha!!!!! Dark Carnival magnets are miracles.
So...I like the power feeding part... is there a second video for the power eating on PatLaps channel? I can't seem to find it... and also, magnets are maker magic.
Great post, very helpful. Before I buy one for my hobby work, in UK we have two options from Axminster Tools, one same size and build like you have (90 W) and other is 240 W, but heavier at 32kg, price of both are not much difference due the bigger one on sale now. I want it to be portable between router table and table saw. Did you ever feel the need for more power on feed roller for rip cut on table saw than the one you have? I don't want to be moving around 32kgs if I don't need that much power.
I tried both with and without and didn't really notice a difference. I set the feeder so that it was at a slight angle pointing towards the fence which did a great job holding it against the fence. The pieces I was cutting were variable in their width, but if it was more even I'd definitely put a feather board on there just to be safe.
That power feeding thingy thing that uses power to feed stuff works. Nicely done. Now about that biggy pencil, might you use the power feeding thing on that? If you get around to making it?
haha I genuinely appreciate the excitement! That kitchen island took me over a year of designing and tweaking the design until I finally built it, so give you an idea of how fast things come together over here lol
@@JackmanWorks ya same thing here I'm building a new shop. And one delay after another. Pole building 24x30 starting date 3/18. Stop by if you're in North Carolina 😁

That's awesome Paul! 😃👍🏻👊🏻 ...... Clearly magnets are the most attractive option! 😉👌🏻🧲
Not that I need one, for now at least, but I didn't even know stand-alone power feeders were a thing... and awesome edit as always!
Right! I hadn't even considered it for my small shop until I saw Andy's jig, so glad I have it now.
+1 for Pat Lap

It's so helpful to make what you can't buy in the store
How did you keep your self from giddy laughing like Ron Swanson? That looks like so much fun!! I love new tools

3:29 that's me applying a layer of cork rubber to the entire base minus where the magnets are :)
Definitely helps with the lateral forces.
Literally 3 videos in my feed in a row featuring this power feeder 🤔
Yep, what a coincidence! 😁
I used that exact model, or a rip off that looks exactly the same, and used it on a shaper and router table for a while. Totally badass. I loved that thing.

Miracles was it back In the day 😂
Following to see how you like the power feeder. Like mag switch products. Have few
❤️ Pat popping in!
He doesn't get enough screen time here
You lucky dawg
Sweet set up.
With the kit gone, are those magnets no longer available too? Can't fine them on Magswitch site
Congratulations Paul, great stuff!
great choice of music

Great tan you got going on there, Paul.
Thanks! It's a bit intermittent though, I need to work on that

Good video.
Ooh, I want a table saw 😀. But for now I might just stick with magnets 🧲😃👍
Will they work on a smaller table saw like dewalt?
Do power feeders push the workpiece into the fence as well as forward? Interesting machine.
yes! You just rotate it a couple degrees off of straight so that it keeps it against the fence
@@JackmanWorks Well that seems so obvious now! I feel silly.
Hey is one of those stands for a power feeder good for other things?
Anyway multi-purpose?
I really enjoy your videos
That’s pretty cool. What’s Pat doing in the shop?
Keeping me from getting any work done

Neat.
can this feeder work sideways, like if you running a board standing up...example not face down but on its side.....when using a router table etc..?
That power feeding thingy thing that uses power to feed stuff works. Nicely done. Now about that biggy pencil, might you use the power feeding thing on that? If you get around to making it?

Great video. How do you like the rockler crosscut sled you're using?
fabulous

How long will the tapped wood hold bolts tight? Not trying to be rude genuinely curious

Andrew Klein also put out a video on this the same day.
Just a really weird coincidence! :)
Great video! What belt sander was that?
Did they discontinue the base kit? I can't find it on their website using your link or searching for it.
muy bueno
You're making a pallet wood toilet, aren't you?
That would definitely qualify as a "big change"

No, but I can do one better, you can borrow my belt sander

I'll add you on IG in the morning. 👍 🇬🇧
Is this the Grizzly Baby Power Feeder?
That's weak. I just use a belt sander for power feeding...Please no one try this I am just kidding.
"PULL!"
Disappointing - it looks like Mag switch no longer sells either the kit or the specific magnet used in this video.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Did anyone else read the fine print for the magnets?
I know I didn't!
$765.00 for the magnets??? Oooofff, no thanks Magswitch.
Looks like SOMEBODY forgot to spray their garage for Canadians this winter.
The poor man could adapt a variable speed belt sander?
Not sure I'd trust that, plus you'd probably have to gear it way down
You'd get shit done quickly.
You're onto something!!
Why is the base $300? It was just scrap wood and some hardware?
The kit contains the hardware, rubber cork, but most important is the big pair of switchable 1,000lb force magnets.
