    Hello, just a suggestion for you in your travels. When you get to North Dakota, if you can work in a visit to the Dakota Fiber Mill in Nome, you will get a great tour (I would call ahead though)! It is located in the Nome Schoolhouse which is a wonderful remodeled school that is a retreat and event center and they host all kinds of fiber related classes and retreats. They even have a camping area! They really are a hidden gem, I hope you get there.

      I higher recommend the Nome Schoolhouse as well. So much fun there. About an hour west-south-west of Fargo

    So awesome that you got to see all the wildlife in Yellowstone, but also a bear on your hike in Grand Teton National Park. Also excited that you made it to Knit on Pearl in Jackson, WY. I met you in CO at Lambspun and I'm so glad I am following your grand adventure now.

    I am originally from Illinois but moved to Wickenburg Arizona last year. I work at our local knitting shop here in Wickenburg. Too bad we couldn't meet up when you were in Tempe. We are about 90 minute north or Tempe. The shop is Isabelle's Yarn Parlour

    For the crochet blanket, perhaps try the '15 min a day' routine. Set timer for 15 minutes and hyper-focus on that piece in that time. If you do that every day you should be able to cram together a lot of stitches. Good Luck! I think all your stuff looks great!

    Yay for Toaster in the background!
    If I saw a bear I would probably panic. The biggest animal in my day-to-day life is a Great Dane, so yeah.

    Hi Natalie. I have a suggestion for a knitted project bag. The Skrabucket by Theresia Lew. It’s on Ravelry. I just knit one and love it. It is a quick knit, a bit like the Musselburgh Hat.
    I love your videos and seeing what you’re making. Thanks for sharing. ❤

    How fun. You did get your wish on seeing a bear. It’s fun when we manifest those things. Stay safe and enjoy your travels. Thanks for these videos. Sending good vibes to you, Kent and (as always) Toaster too. He is as chill as one of my beagle mix buddies. My guy snores too.

    Base of thumb is probably wherever your thumb joint starts to stick out from your wrist width! That sporti shawl is looking so so so good!!!

    Great podcast as always. You made me smile every time you said Grand Teton as in French it means Big teats. The Grand Teton were originally named "Trois tétons" by French trappers in the early 1900s.

    That is so cool to hear about the fruit and veggie male in your membership! I don't know what the criteria is for it, but I have some crochet vegetable stuffy patterns on ravelry if you're looking for something crochet within the theme!

    I loved hearing your bear story. Now you have a bear story like my grizzly mama bear story I shared on Instagram about our hike in Glacier. Glad you and everyone else were safe. It certainly is amazing, interesting and scary all at once. Me, I prefer my very large stuffed teddy bear collection. I knit sweaters for teddy bears for baby gifts. I continue to love all your travels; and all you are doing for the knitting and crocheting community. Have a wonderful vacation. 💖

    Natalie I bought one of the cotopaxi chalk bags based on your recommendation for knitting and walking. The people at the outdoor shop thought it was both hilarious and awesome.

      Why are the bags called "chalk" bags?

    • @lavendercottagefibrearts
      @lavendercottagefibrearts 3 місяці тому

      @@violashook they are originally designed for rockclimbers to carry chalk for their hands, but natalie found it's a great size for a 100 g cake of yarn. she mentioned it in her video about knitting while hiking.

    I started the BoK in May using the Cabin in the Woods colorway. Love it so far,I am trying to get May done before June arrives. I wish I would have done crochet since I am not very good at it but I am more comfortable with knitting. Idid use your link also.

    When making mittens, for the thumb you make a triangle before actually working the thumb ‘length’ because your hand sticks out on the base of the thumb. And you need a bit of extra room there! So my guess is the lower point is the base. Then you get directions to increase. Before making and finishing with the actual hole of the thumb 😊

  • @leslienero7884
    @leslienero7884 4 місяці тому

    For the base of the thumb question, look at the pattern photos on ravelry, you can see where their thumbs are coming out and you probably will adjust for you.

    Are you going only to the 63 national parks with ‘National park’ in the name? Or are you trying to go to all 429 sites including National battlefields, National historic sites, national monuments, national seashores and national recreational sites?
