I remember going to school, and every kid including myself, *all* played our GameBoy hand helds. Weather it was GB, GBC, GBA, NDS... I remember trading pkm (not the cards) and I also remember everyone had pogs and yoyos... Pogs were the kids currency. The rarer the pog, the more it was worth 😏💭
Motocross Maniacs was also one of my favourites as a kid, but I never actually got around to playing the second one. In fact, I was actually just playing the original in an emulator on the Quest 3 called Gamebov last night that makes it look like you're playing it on a Gameboy Color in your living room. I'll have to try the second one tonight.
Gameboy Color my first video game console! Mom got that and Pokemon Yellow for me one Christmas. You covered everything I would put on the list. Can't believe that they made a Sgt Rock game in 2000. What a weird time for it to show up in. Will have to track it down now.
GBC wasn’t on my radar at all. Nor was the original Gameboy. By that time, I War in High School and my focus was band, art, and girls. (As a reformed nerd, the girls didn’t notice me until late junior year 😂.) But now I appreciate some of the games that were released at that time and there’s a few that I’m excited to play. Considering I grew up on Atari 2600 & Commodore 64, one may see that I have no nostalgia for GB & GBA but that I do love the steps taken forward by GB. Thanks for pointing out a couple of titles that I will probably love (and a couple that my kiddo will probably love too (she’s a big Kirby fan!)).
WWF Betrayal was a joke meme at the time, but no one I knew had it. I would have loved it at the time but we had to be so careful with limited money. Great one to get to try out now.
I recently decided to collect GBC games. I have a reshelled fake wood GBC with a TFT screen (modded myself). I picked up Alice in wonderland and was actually surprised at how varied the gameplay was. And I've been playing pkm Yellow!
The GBC game I keep coming back to is Pokemon TCG. Perfect implementation of the card game, with a neat little campaign and deck building aspect intact. Just lovely.
I had a Gameboy Color for a very short time as a kid and I'd love to start collecting for it again. Especially knowing gamesnlike WWF Betrayal exist! Where was this all my life!?
I bought an atomic purple gameboy color back in 2017 along with Zelda oracle of seasons and ages and Pokémon silver, my only regret is that I didn’t get a modded version that was backlit.
Game boy is something I need to spend more time with. We have a game boy color and exactly one game for it, Lufia. As far as Game boy games go, I own all of three. That being said, this video is great inspiration to maybe start looking out for more game boy color games. I would love to get more shantae games but I can't justify the price either. I became hooked last year when I played my first one so I'm going to keep my eyes peeled but I won't be too surprised if they're priced out of my price range.
That looks like Links Awakening! You and I love our tennis games, that one is incredible. The Game Boy DKC games are arguably better than the SNES versions. Have a good weekend Jay.
Dexter's Laboratory: Robot Rampage is a (great, very fun) reskin of a Japanese game called Elevator Action EX which is obviously a (fabulous, engaging) version of Elevator Action, but with very obviously "Lupin III" characters though not named as such. I have tried both Dexter and EX and enjoyed them immensely; Dexter will probably be the easiest to acquire in cart form.
The Warioware game, the Yoshi game and Kirby Tilt n Tumble all control beautifully! Lots of fun, a bugger to try and figure out how to store those goofy carts!
Great list of games there! Definitely love GameBoy games of all kinds and never disagree with some fantastic titles. Kirby Tilt & Tumble is wonderful. WWF Betrayel is one I need to add to my collection. I love Tennis games and Mario ones are always decent. Great video Jay!
My wife is thinking of getting me an oled kit. I totally forgot about mario tennis. Idk how, i literally gring for achievments in the gba mario tennis daily lol
Man I got like half these games and imma go buy the other half xD You should check out V.I.P. it's got side scrolling shootem up levels and 8bit jiggle physics lol and buffy the vampire slayer too enemies scream when they die and it's so funny
I'll be honest, I didn't think I'd like this video but I walked away intrigued after watching. I never owned a GBC as I went from a GB DMG right to the GBA. I also don't own any GBC specific games currently but I am now interested in Motocross Maniacs 2. I'll be paying more attention at my local game store as well as conventions the rest of the year. Nice work Jay! Great video. Take care! 🟩
These are the GBC games that I own as of today (9/7/24): Wario Land 3, Super Mario Deluxe, Pokemon Gold, Wacky Races, Oracle of Seasons, Sabrina the Animated Series Zapped, Pocket Bomberman, slim pickings, I know. This video encouraged me to look more into the GBC.
@@TheZerox500 Definitely no on the DBZ game - not a huge fan of the anime and I haven't played a ton of the games as a result, but I've heard good things about a lot of them. Have played Mega Man Xtreme, but don't own any yet.
@@SquarePegs I'll give you a quick run down. Legendary Super Warriors is a card based RPG. It's actually pretty fun as well as challenging. I'd recommend a guide or watch some gameplay to get an understanding of how to play it. If you like challenge, you'll enjoy it. Also, the translation is hilarious. They changed some dialogue, so instead of prepare to die, it's prepare to lost. I laughed pretty good when I first saw that.
I found my Gameboy Color and pokemon games. Silver, yellow, blue and red. Very excited to play those games again!
Heck. YES. Enjoy!! They're still a blast and still significantly charming. :) Thank you for watching!
I completely missed out on the GBC and it has been awesome discovering so many great games. Playing Shantee via emulation on a big TV is amazing.
Reminds me of the Super Gameboy.. 😏
I have an Anbernic SP, and I love it. 😊
Mario Tennis really is a gem. Honestly a 10/10 game.
It never feels like it's aged. It's STILL better than 95% of modern tennis games - such a classic. 100% agreed on the 10/10.
Agreed

I got my first gameboy with a copy of Pokemon Red for EASTER and so your hamheld joke gave me goosebumps!
This makes me really happy to hear. :) Thank you for watching!
I never knew that Flintstones Burgertime game existed, and now I must have it 😅
It's animated and colored so we'll. Surprising.
Same 🤯
GBC has so much charm. These games definitely hold up and now I want to check out Betrayal

Looking for inspiration for my little game I’m making. Thanks for the video 🤙🏽

I loved your narration and thoughts. Very down to earth and reminded me of my own experiences playing the game boy color growing up. Excellent vid!
I have so many on my list to check off. But can't wait to do it.

Nice list! Also SF Alpha was pretty good for a fighter on GBC (only one I think) lol
I had a Gameboy Color for a very short time as a kid and I'd love to start collecting for it again. Especially knowing gamesnlike WWF Betrayal exist! Where was this all my life!?
I've been playing pokemon blue, tetris, and army men 2. I remember the road to el dorado being super fun as well
A Wrestling licenced side scrolling brawler! I need this in my life now! And you get to play as Stone Cold Steve Austin!
If I may add another crazy expensive cartridge, but definitely worth emulating game, Resident Evil: Gaiden
I mod my tbc with a black metal shell and ips screen. As a Game Boy Fan iam in love ❤

You too, my friend!
I had the GBC gave it my friend kid, Shantae was my favorite, I miss it so much😢. Now, I’m playing Shantae on switch😊
This video made me realize most of my Gameboy collection is original or GBA. I definitely need more Gameboy Color!
Was playing Mario Tennis on GBC while watching this. Respect for it being on your list ✊

My only gbc cart is kirby tilt n tumble in japanese. You dont really need to know japanese to play it so im glad i picked it up.
This is making me really want to play some GBC games
My wife is thinking of getting me an oled kit. I totally forgot about mario tennis. Idk how, i literally gring for achievments in the gba mario tennis daily lol
My favourite gameboy color games are Rayman,Rayman 2 and Monsters Inc(i love the movie and this game is the closest to the actual movie's plot)
Curious if you've enjoyed these gbc games on a retrohandheld emulator like that Miyoo Mini Plus?
I haven't used a Miyoo yet, but I've definitely played them on my Anbernic devices that I own.
13:22 Gen 2 pokemon is the best, and I love crystal, but gold and silver are better for 1 reason:
The duplication glitch. Can't be done in crystal
Facts are facts, and you're 100% correct. Great point!
@@SquarePegs nice recommendations 👌
I thought tilt n tumble was really cool, but I was not good at it as a kid
yooo tilt and tumble hits different these days hahaha
The lime green Game Boy color is the best one.

Pokémon Gold 🥶🔝 🗿
