  • Moose Electronics. If you know you know.
Ireland's very own master pedal builder, Cian Megannety, aka Moose, is known for making brutally heavy high gain pedals that can shear sheep from 2 whole miles away, from just pure sonic assault alone. Popping up on more and more renowned boards across Ireland and Europe since the company's birth in 2009, we're always excited to see what might come next. Let's start with one of his OG's, the lesser aggressive of his creations, but still ever so wonderful, it's the Sundrive Overdrive.
Starting life as a boutique style Tube Screamer overdrive circuit, Moose Electroncs have added the treble and bass controls in the form of a Baxandall style shelving eq, giving you the ability to cut and boost treble and bass, while also cutting and boosting the mid range frequencies. With treble and bass controls above 12 o'clock the mids are boosted and below 12 they are cut. This gives a near endless variety of tonal options.
When the boost footswitch is engaged there is a volume increase of up to 20dB, with absolutely no change to the tone of the pedal. With that said, driving any amp with that much volume will most likely change the tone of the amp as the preamp is driven harder.
The clipping toggle included allows you to flick between traditional symmetrical Silicon clipping diodes on one side, to asymmetrical Si/LED clipping on the other side. The middle position gives the option of symmetrical LEDs for a less compressed drive with more of a crunch to it. Between this toggle and the gain knob the Sundrive goes from sparkling clean through various stages of drive through to full on distortion with the gain knob maxed.
We run through all of the sounds and settings in under 4 minutes, with no chat or unnecessary chat, so you can just hear what the effect is doing. Like, subscribe, take some vitamins, drink some water etc ✊❤️
