Why would he leave? Going from a winning team to a worse team never makes sense even with the controversy. Especially if its a team that is that much better than any other team. Lewis also left a team that wasnt the best overall.
Max also said that he doesnt want to drive forever so why would he leave if he doesnt plan to drive that long anymore.

The 2026 regulations will unfreeze the ICE development, it is very likely Mercedes will be competitive in that era, Wache and Newey might be doing wonders right now but they are aero guys, i dont think they will be able to develop that new Redbull Pwrt plant with the car, thats something that the Berkley crew can definitely do.
If Adrian were to leave I can see it being a reality.
Remember Red Bull is building their own engines after -26. There’s far from any guarantee that it will be better than even Renault.
Last year there were rumors that there was beef between and Horner and Jos. Horner had forced Jos to stay at home for some races because he was getting too involved in the Team. And the kind of character he is, it isn't beneath him to launch a play to oust Horner.
No MARKO has made sure that in Max’ contract it states that Jos is only allowed at 50% of the races as normal guest. Marko spoke abt that on a Yt interview while back.

Only reason I can think of is that the Redbull Ford Engine 2026 is well behind on development and Merc have a strong 2026 engine ?
Mercedes is apparently on pole with dev of the engine, to a point that many thinks it would be a 2014, the return, so having Max joining would be a similar move and parralel to lewis 2013(tbh am neutral to an arrival of max).
Verstappen has a contract until 2028. Sure they could break it but it would probably cost a ton of money to do so

It’s easy to look at Hamilton’s move to Merc and think it could easily happen again with Max, but if you look historically, there has been way more bad moves like this than good ones.
From the top off my head i can think of Ricciardo to Mclaren or some of Alonso’s moves over the years. But, everyone starts fresh in 2026, could be very interesting if the move happens.
Horner is 1 of 2 long standing team principles (spelling) that are still going, and have done well for their team. getting rid of him would and them pushing their side (austrian faction) more may result in a alpine situation. revolving door of staff and going backwards.

Nah man, Antonelli is such a big prospect Merc would be crazy to let him go. I think that if this were to happen, this would be the end for Russel in the near future. They'd probably send Antonelli to Williams to gain some experience like they did with Russel. And when he's grown enough to their liking, Russel is yeeted out and Kimi joins Merc next to Max. That is, if Max still wants to race then. Altho, Max did say that it'd be hard to justify leaving F1 if he was in a dominant car.
Just here to say that the GT4 soundtrack is legendary, feels so good to see motosport content with it.
I agree with everything said in this video actually. Of course it's unlikely, but I think it's more possible than some people may think.
Another side to it: Max always says that he's not too bothered about breaking records and that he'll stay in F1 as long as he enjoys it - and tbh I believe him.
He seems to be loving his time at Red Bull now, but if he gets bored of the team I don't think it's out of the question for him to jump ship to a currently slower team that has clear potential to be better in the new regs (and has shown prescedence for doing so in the past).
Also, I think of Max as a driver who wants to do just that - drive (polar opposite to Lewis who I also like). While it's impossible to completely avoid team politics in F1, if it gets too crazy with the Horner situation, Max could join Merc purely to get away from all the drama and focus on his driving.

If, and it's a huge if, Verstappen were to leave, I would push to get Sainz to replace Pérez, and try to get Alonso in Verstappen's car. Then, depending on his early F2 performances, try to poach Antonelli from Mercedes as a longer-term prospect and stick him in for 2025 at RB.
That would be absolutely awesome for F1

This year have started wildly. Lewis to Ferrari. Red Bull is in full chaos with multiple things going on. Max to Mercedes (sceptical) and then Alpine with people leaving left and right. Silly season have not even began fully.

If I’m Redbull and the 2% that max leaves for Mercedes I would not resign Perez and would get rid off Ricardo and yuki from vcarb then would promote Lawson and sign kimi Antonelli on a 2+2 year contract to vcarb
While at Redbull would sign Sainz to a 3+1 year deal and Alonso to a 1+1
In that time you could give Antonelli his first year to be a rookie and make mistakes and second year to improve
While in that time Fernando Would most likely win his 3 championship in 2025 with that car and give him 1 year in the new regulation to see if he wants to continue racing
and you would have Sainz maybe challenge Fernando and being the leader after he leaves and before kimi development

If Verstappen were to leave Red Bull for a full works team in anticipation of 2026, it would make total sense. Remember how much Red Bull was plagued by Renault from 2014 to 2018 with the best aero and chassis (by their wins in non-power sensitive tracks)
if max were to leave RBR at the end of this season, RBR could promote Ricciardo to RBR and put Lawson to RB or replace Checo with Sainz + the latter.
If Max were to leave who do you think would get the Red Bull seat? Christian obviously has a thing for Ricciardo and it's hard to see them putting Yuki in the seat given he's basically only there because of Honda. It's also hard seeing them putting Yuki in that seat after the nonsense he pulled after the race in Bahrain. Although even as a fan of Daniel I don't think he really deserves the Red Bull spot

this does make more sense the longer you think about it. although max has been talking about trying out different type of racing, for example le mans. i wonder if he would rather give merc a go than leave formula 1
