Hating on main 💅💅💅💅
💅😘 all day
Rick Riordan posted saying something along the lines of "I asked you to stop nominating my books foe the award, not to scrap the middlegrade category entirely!" I cannot with GR.
Whaaaat did that really happen!? Also a shame 🫠
I'm honestly not sad about romantasy getting its own category since it means fantasy isn't dominated by Maas or Armentrout. I'm not personally opposed to romantasy but it was annoying to keep seeing the number one pick for fantasy go to something that's really more romance focused.
I don't love the audiobook category though, feels just like a way for them to sell more on Audible.
Ya know I'm hearing the same sentiment from others and it does make sense in dealing with the one author who keeps winning over and over. I do feel like if we are going to do that then there are a bunch of other genres I would like to see. Yeaaa the audio book one is kinda weird 🥴 welp atleast we have storygraph haha
"im here to be a hater on main today" SO SEXY OF YOU
i swear, this year's choices truly made me go DID I READ ANYTHING THIS YEAR bc sure, i don't always catch up to the newest hype but I'd like to think of myself as at least semi-well informed about my fav genres and literally EVERYTHING except maybe 2 or 3 predictions came out of left field for me 😭i have read TWO books in SFF steff! TWO! In both genre categories COMBINED
I will say i dont particularly mind the recent addition of romantasy considering it got real hard trying to have a fantasy section that wouldn't let SJM win like every year she published sth lmao but considering that as they gave us THAT, they got rid of MG novels, AND are now also not including YA Scifi books (while giving us AUDIOBOOKS. Not even audioplays, audioBOOKS! Without even calling out the narrators specifically! where is the logic in that!) at least not in their own category OR at least by name I'm very disappointed by these senseless additions in genres that make no sense, should not be there, and take away visibility for OTHER, IMO much more vital categories. We're not beating the no literacy allegations if we wont even TRY to help parents find books for their children, come on now
LOL why thank you uwu
and here I am thinking about how you are much more well read than me! that is wild. lol guess we are not as "In the moment" as we thought we were XD
right! like for me its thats if we are going to start having these subgenres then we need to have more of them not just the one. Taking away graphic novels is a shame! this whole system needs to be reworked *smh*
You didn’t catch it, but there were TWO Stephen Graham Jones picks for the horror genre. That’s what I thought was interesting!
Good for him!! 👏 well deserved!
