Poppy war is five star for me
YEEES I'm so excited I hope i love it!
you'll love your time andrew joseph white
I think you will be right!
futbolista is about teens entering their first year in college
Perfect that's the same age group as canto contigo and it was so good
The poppy war is great! i am on book 2 now xD after a couple of years... Hell Followed with us I have on my list for years and the sequels as well xD
Haha talking forever to continue a series is so on brand for us 🤣
@@CoffeeOverApples ahahahahah totally xD if i finish it start of next year I will be proud
I love your shelves! I'll also be watching older videos to find out your thoughts on these books that you don't like! hehe
Haha thank you! 🙈 I have hot takes once in a while 😅
Sam was my favorite!
Yeees i look back on this book so fondly. I'm glad you also enjoyed these characters!
the little chicken noises when the books started sliding down 😭
😂🐔 is me
@@CoffeeOverApples very beloved chicken!!
Y'all talk about how many pages these books are, but I have a confession. I've never read any of them. But I've listened to all of them on audiobook multiple times. I find audiobooks are easier because of multitasking ADHD superpowers. Wind and Truth will be a lot of fun to listen to while on Holiday Travels. Again I super appreciate the perspectives expressed in this livestream, it does give me a lot to consider in this story. Since the upcoming RPG allows playing as a Singer, maybe even a Fused, maybe even as Moash, it would be a lot of fun to watch this panel play out the plot with the legitimate criticisms mentioned here brought to the forefront. After you finish your review of the 5th book in February, will you make some type of summary video? I'd love to see a video which could be shared with Brandon, or members of Dragonsteel, by fans such as myself which summarizes your core criticisms of the themes Brandon seemed to be trying to represent, and how he could do better in the future. From my read of the guy, he seems deeply interested in accurately representing perspectives of marginalized groups. Even though he can't rewrite these books, he can consider how to better portray these themes in the inevitable Stormlight TV Series.
Hey 👋🏻! Haha I agree, audio books are amazing especially in assisting with adhd ( i plan on making a video about this cause same. I also love thinking about it as a superpower 💓). we have talked about playing the games and discussing adaptations with our critical lense. Honestly though I would need to figure out a way to do it without spending money because I don't want to financially endorse something I have so many qualms with. We do plan on making one final video after book 5 where we summarize all of our thoughts and reflect on the series development as a whole. I feel like reviews are for reviewers and while listening to fans may have it's benefits I am concerned with the amount of pandering to the audience he does because the quality doesn't follow suit in my opinion, which is also Evident to me in his responses at panels. I do think he has good intentions, for me intentions need to be followed by actions to garner trust. The final summary video will be on Sarah's channel if you want to catch that! Thanks for hanging out with us!
thank you guys so much for livestreaming your thoughts on these books. it's clear that your thoughts obviously come from a sincere place of wanting the books to be better. there are also smaller communities on twitter and tumblr where people talk about their criticisms with these books, I should add, and they all line up with the things that you have discussed. For me, I love these books more than I dislike them, which is why I get *so* disappointed when it has these major problems and blindspots that you talked about. I remember being deeply impacted by Kaladin's arc in the first book to the point that he skyrocketed to becoming one of my favorite characters in literature. But seeing him and other characters in his position or worse just not get a chance from the narrative to be themselves or truly express their beliefs has been so disappointing. I can't look past the mistreatment of oppressed characters and the poor representation of their beliefs and politics. I can't look past the books' tendency to defang the violence of the oppressive characters the narrative so clearly favors. It sucks to be let down! And it's not fun being in a position where you're looking at something that could have been even greater than it is, but is limited by its blindspots. That said, y'all are great. And I hope Sanderson will learn from the flaws in this first arc and his previous works and continue to improve his work in a meaningful way.
Thank you so much for joining us during the live! It really helps having people of varying opinions and levels of fandom have conversations on how we want the series to improve. It feels like our reviews (after close to a year haha) are finally reaching the intended audiences. Kaladin could be such an amazing character and I remember how special he was (and even Dalinar!) We so special to me at one point. I hope kaladin and moash get the arc they deserve 🤞
Trying to tell myself I don't need to rearrange my shelves again 😂
Lol a good new years sprucing? 👀
@CoffeeOverApples I've only just rearranged them 😂 and it was killer.
Oh no are you gonna show us?
@CoffeeOverApples I think I showed it on a vlog but when I hit my 1000 book library I will be doing a proper tour.
YESSSSSS ohhh my gosh thank you so much!! it's so delusional to think that books, let alone any sort of media (television, movies, plays) aren't "political." Even the word "political" bothers me in a way because Americans treat that as such an icky word. Because of that, art is flattened and sanitized of all its meaning. I think readers who are complaining about politics in books do not understand any form of meaningful media beyond entertainment. Reading isn't just entertainment; it's a medium through which ideas are communicated. thinking about the ideas that a book is espousing, whether if it's through a character's arc or a plot development, is CRITICAL READING and is incredibly important to our development as readers, but as human beings. I dislike how common it is that books are just being reduced to plain entertainment. That's how so many terribly written books nowadays are blowing up. No thoughts; just tropes lacking the context that made them so good. and I also blame the authors who write books about revolution and war because they're entertaining, but don't care to understand how these things actually look and affect people in real life, so their books end up taking stupid conclusions. (i.e. zionist sympathizing authors that insist on writing about oppression) anyway, adore this video. you were cooking. don't stop cooking 🔥
Thanks so much! 🙏💖 and Yes! Yes yes! Words matter! The communication of ideas is always prevalent in media & entertainment even if not explicit. The same people who think books aren't political are the same ones who will notice if a book has representation that differs from theirs and be uncomfortable by it, not realizing the norm as has been established has caused uncomfortability for those who don't fall into that demographic and is exactly WHY we need diverse stories. Literally the effectiveness of some of the most harmful propaganda in history hinges on viewers not asking questions. This whole discourse is evidence of that, imo.
🎉🎉🎉
Haha thank you 😌
No because that's so valid. Reorganizing books takes a different type of energy.
It really does 😭 I'm proud I finally found the energy
Thats a great system!
Ty! 🥳 I tried
i love how you're literally YEETING books lmao
Haha i wasn't kidding! 🤣 I'm tired of looking at them *chucks out window*
Very good analysis on how darkness is being used as a negative

O which one are you reading? *sigh* I know his books have a fond space in my heart but I gotta lay out the cards
Absolutely love witnessing an unhaul video 🙏🏻
This was a good % of my shelves and It still looks like I barely made a dent 😂
Hello! I found you through the Reindeer Readathon (almost all of the hosts are new to me, so i've been busy checking everyone out) Alif the Unseen is on my TBR. I haven't really heard anyone talk about it. I hope you enjoy these books!
Hello! Thanks for joining the readathon! 😍 o cool that we are planning to read the same book. I hope you like it too!
Yeek, that ish
Oh yea! *tosses across room* lol
❤❤
🥰
Love it. You need to declutter from time to time
Oh yes I needed to cleanse my house to prepare for the new year!
This. This. This. Oh and also THIS!
👏👏👏👏
You should read Defectors by Paola Ramos. I just finished it and it was so good!!! I met her at an indie book store a few months ago and this work is so important 😭
I heard about this recently!!!! It's on my highly anticipated reads for next year list. I put a request at my library to invest in a copy. Might have to just get it myself. hoping to read it soon 😭💕
Also omg that's so cool!! Meeting an author like that definitely sounds like a fond memory.
My first thought about this was that Mike Flanagan would cook making a movie/TV series adaptation of this.
Heck yea! I need someone to pick it up.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
*takes a bow* thank you
It's the most delusional and asinine thing to me that people think books aren't political. People just don't want to admit that books are political when they don't support their worldview or when they won't want to engage in questions or concepts that might make them question society and their place in it. Great rant, Steff!
Thank you Tina! It really is asinine the things people will do at the claim of "keeping their peace" at the cost of others.
Love all this passion early in the morning 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you 😌 i didn't bring the tea. I am the tea
Books are political since they existed.....
LITERALLY
'I have the memory of a goldfish' 😂 This would be so hard!!

YAY go team! we are going to win this! 🥳

yay me too!! I am so excited to start reading!
The way my brain was not braining during this challenge 😂
Neither of us was
"Your review truly moved me. 😢 It's not easy to convey the emotional depth of a book, but you did it so beautifully. I can feel the impact this story had on you, and I’m sure many others will find your review just as touching. 💖 It’s rare to find a reviewer who connects with a book on such a personal level-thank you for sharing your raw, honest feelings! 🙏📚" If anything wrong I use it translator sorry❤
That is sweet of you to say 💕 it really is one of my favorite books of the year. Don't worry the translation worked well enough 🥰
Team snowflake here ❄️
Woohooo! Let's win this!
Wooo thanks for cohosting!! BTW your team is going down. Oh! The crossword is for the imagery (like the art or graphics) on the cover, not the title itself. So unfortunately that would not count. Excited to kick off this competition soon.
Oh snap! I misunderstood the prompt! Thanks for letting me know. we are gonna win this! 💪😌💪
As an MtG player, I love this. Since Green has the most prompts under it (the d20), do you expect it to win more often? I'm curious how you assigned each color to a specific die, like why not blue for d4 or whatever. Also, THE COLOR OF LAW is amazing. I think you'll love it.
Hi there, yay a fellow player! Haha thanks so much. This is such a good question! No one has asked me this before 😃 Honestly it was mostly color correlation and thinking about the color pie. For colorless I was thinking about artifacts. My 🧠: what's something that's ol'e reliable like a sol ring? Classics! Haha White prompts are giving choice to others like polls & generators to represent fairness. blue is scifi or evidence based like book awards . Black is prompts that are most likely to get me horror (my favorite genre) or ambitious reads, red is quick reads or romance or action based prompts and green i was thinking about green as growth so adaptations, accessibility or underrated possibilities. O I'm so glad you said it's a good book! I'm really looking forward to it 🤩
I'm team Snowflake too! And what a coincidence, I am also reading a Jonny Garza Villa book for the reindeer readathon: Ander & Santi Were Here.
Yay! Go team 🥳 I have heard such good things about ander & Santi 💓 I hope you enjoy it!
Great content, as always! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
I still need to even pick my December tbr 😅
Haha it's not too late!
@CoffeeOverApples I'll be doing it this week (I have to, it's Friday's video 😂)
