- Matlacha is on the west coast of Florida, and is a small fishing village but also the home to a hidden camping gem in Florida, it is called Sugar Sand Beach RV Resort and it is right on the water and is some of the best waterfront camping in Florida with some of the best Florida camping spots.

We're on the East coast but my wife's Aunt is in Cape Coral and we visit her often and go shopping in Matlacha. The girls just love that area.

My parents brought me to Matlacha back in the early 80's and even though I was pretty young I fell in love with it, I've been to Sugar Sands a number of times and was kinda disappointed you did a video on it.... now everyone will know about it!
We just highlight the places we visit, there are very few hidden gems anymore, I actually think there pricing will keep most out, but we feel its worth it for the views! Thanks for checking it out for us!

Wow that campground is beautiful ❤️ and the park along with the main street downtown was amazing. So many bright colors in that town. Gotta love that. The water is just so peaceful. The palm trees blowing in the breeze is the perfect touch to a tropical get away. Just beautiful. (Emilie)

Ok now this is a million dollar camp view ! I absolutely love the colors we have in Florida! It is one of my favorite parts about living here. The vibrant beach theme colors create such an awesome tropical vibe. Great footage and tour Tom. Hope y'all are well. I especially loved the hammocks there.
It was totally not expected and i love when that happens, and such a cute area with lots of places to eat on the water!!!

Matlacha isn't a fishing village anymore. Its a drinking village with a fishing problem. April is a great month to explore this area. Starts emptying out a bit.

We live about 15 minutes away from Matlacha and never really knew about this campground until another UA-camr did a video on it. It is really a great spot if you can get in! Lol. We usually pass by on our way out to Pine Island to launch our boat.
So great that you get to enjoy that whole area! We have friends building in Cape Coral, such a nice area!!

That's so funny Pat, I thought the same thing as I have lived in FL 50 tears and even honeymooned in Sanibel, but had never been here before or even heard of it really. They had several waterfront eateries to check out!! Glad you enjoyed it, hope you get to check it out sometime!

It is an independent place, I would just call them and ask, but I would think a camper van would be fine.

Koreshan state park is about 40 minutes away heading south
I'm assuming this campground is gone now due to the hurricane.

Really nice place, great location but $2,000 a month or $100.00 a night? I guess for a once in a lifetime experience it might be worth it.

Richard, SW Florida is heaven in the winter time. The weather, beaches, atmosphere, towns, and events if your used to living in winter climates is a treat. With that said it gets more crowded and touristy every year. They are the only campground in that immediate area and not many others within 30 minutes. Matlacha is a nice place although very crowded to spend an afternoon/evening and maybe an overnight but the campground is more of a base than a destination in my opinion. As far as the price its the only game in town so they can ask whatever they want but amenities and privacy are extremely limited in my opinion.
So expensive...ouch
