You can really see, specially in the design interfaces it still has a strong DMC element, but I'm glad Kamiya changed and made tons of further developments to make Bayonetta a really wonderful game of it's own.
and then they got really high and said "hey, know what'd be cool? if her clothes were actually her hair and than it could spawn giant,angel-eating deamons!!"
I cant actually beleive that even in this early stage, I would take this game over 90% of whats out there. In fact, some elements like the fact bayo pics cars up, the witch insigna before a move, Bayos more youthful (and slightly nerdier) apperance and the motobike trick should have made it into the final game. there is a say in film making " your film is only as good as what you cut out." the high quailty of what was cut out only reinforces what a beautiful polished game we got in the end
This looks slow and, to be quite honest, boring. Not boring to watch, it still looks as amazing as ever, just boring to play. Not as fast and intense as the finished product.
Her outfit in this video is okay but the final one is far better. The halos are also much better in the final game. I wonder how much was intended as placeholder.
@Saur so true. i've always maintained that sega's weakest link is NOT SOFTWARE (i can't emphasize that enough) but MARKETING... and i don't even think it needs to be big tv campaigns, i just believe it needs to be smartly done... with the internet there are tons of ways to get people exposed. Bayo did decent but Vanquish suffered from the lack of an impactful marketing campaign.
@Saur That really is terrible isn't it? Bayonetta was my game of the year beating out AC Brotherhood and lots of other big name titles. The gameplay was so refined that I the player felt powerful just like Bayonetta when playing. And while the story of the game may be it's weakest parts, it's got some powerful themes of self reliance and female power. Maybe if they released Bayonetta on the PSP, it would get more recognition like Valkyria Chronicles did (-_-);
Thanks for this Sega! This is awesome. Watching the OTHER video I really wish some of that stuff made it into the final build... I WANT weapon based finishing moves and I REALLY want to ride the motorbike mid stages! Bayonetta 2 maybe? -Ryan Segabits.com
@meirus i had the priveledge of seeing bayo in development and it was done WAY before they released it. release dates are a bit more tied to finances than to development time IF you are working with a competent team... i think total dev time was about 2.5 years, which is actually short when you realize they had to create their engine from scratch as well... these guys are masters though... so the mess up the curve for the rest of the developers out there lol
@Saur By "not allowed to talk about it" do you mean, like, the people around you see Bayonetta as a taboo because of it's aesthetics and what not? If that is the case then I see what you mean. It seems like any game with a female lead automatically becomes "gay" if you play it. I guess the only guaranteed place to talk about the game is on some kind of forum but then that wouldn't be the same as really talking to someone.
@Salir gotta agree with bellacute9, i mean you can watch people destroying bayonetta, so you can't really blame anyone but yourself for your lack of skills... plus the graphics are amazing, the animation is top notch, and if it aint flashy - why bother??? the loading is a problem only on ps3, and i have no idea what random attacks in the air mean... the game is art, and even more you can create art by playing it at a higher level... anyway my 2 cents.
@Saur Advertisement, some of thouse bug ridden generic FPS has a huge adv budget and you cant help but get info about it in your face no matter were you go. Its like sublime messages after awhile for the weak poor fools. :P
@Saur Excuse me for asking, but do you have any gamer friends? I would imagine those guys would be appreciate some talk of Bayonetta. Then again, most of my friends play games and yet only one of them has played Bayonetta and not to completion.
@filosofiamanga nah the basic framework is hack and slash but you can't just mash buttons, you have to pay attention to evade, you have to learn enemy patterns... even ninja gaiden is played different than DMC... god of war is probably the only game where you can get away with mashing blindly. Bayonetta's key innovations i believe are the wicked weaves and the ability to continue combo through evasion, the 4 weapon system is great as well... too bad you missed out on a novel game.
Iam glad they changed the game the way it had been released. In this vid bayo looks more like a DMC ripoff than an own IP with unique gameplay features. Tho its to see how bayo looks in early stages :) And that most StoryBoard Elements have only changed slightly :)
i played it. hell i still own it. and i love it. i had abit of trouble at first but really got into rhythm with it. it wasn't hard...except on climax mode. ick. im not that professional at it. :/
@Hardcoregamer728 too bad sega didn't dev the ps3 port but a company called Nex Entertainment did - it's a classic case of HORRIBLE GAME journalism as if SEGA didn't have PS3 Chops!!! Stop and think about that for awhile - OFCOURSE they have PS3 chops (valkyria, yakuza, vf etc...)... don't believe everything you read on kotaku/ign...
@Saur This game is extremely... Japanese. Sure, the gameplay is incredible and innovative but the story, character designs, etc. are naturally gonna turn a lot of people off.
It's amazing to see how much refinement and polish went into the final game.
LONG SINCE ERASED FROM THE RECORDS OF TIME
Wow. I know they're just beta designs, but I still LOVE the aesthetic of the beta menus
Yeah s ococol

Her punches are much slower, she has no wicked weaves, and the title screen looks much better in this lol
I really want Bayonetta to look like this in Bayonetta 3.
Ah, Bayonetta 64, my favorite game. XD
Jago Shogun
What? I thought it was ps3?
Joseph Harley they were joking

@Saur you speak he truth. Bayonetta is literaly one of my highlights of this generation never mind the year. Hope to god they make Bayonetta 2
Kamiya took one look and said "50% faster animations 😤"
The music already kicked serious ass in 2007. Mad props Platinum Games, mad props.
That outfit is cool though
Is this the version where she's a teenager and turns into an adult using magic?
k
This looks slow and, to be quite honest, boring. Not boring to watch, it still looks as amazing as ever, just boring to play. Not as fast and intense as the finished product.
it would be a lot more intense when you're playing and trying to comprehend the story being told at the same time
Angels sound like demons. Ironic. X3
wow this is gorgeous! O3o
i can't imagine what the final version looks like o3o
(now i wish i had a ps3 or xbox360 T3T)
laurenhiya21 my God this comment is 7 y.o 😂
Her outfit in this video is okay but the final one is far better. The halos are also much better in the final game. I wonder how much was intended as placeholder.
The aesthetic is so classy tho

hmm what a prototype! i'm floored, that would be most games ALPHA!
well at least the interior of the train station in this version damned good
It didn't look much different ;D.
the slow running reminds me of dmc1
Cheers to Platinum!!~
LOL. BAYONETTA'S SUIT IN THIS VERSION IS AMAZING. LOL (again).

Thumbs up if you want SEGA to see this and know that WE WANT BAYONETTA 2! (As well as a 3 and 4)
alphaotakux your wish granted
I WANT THAT BETA ONE OF A KIND

impressive
@Neilousluda she picks up cars in the final game o.O well the demons do, and there's a bit more uniqueness to it as well as gameplay
lol Climax meter! XD
Is nice!
cool
Its better like this, i can acually understand whats going on!
Is there a way to download and play this version? Where can I find it?
There's NO WAY you can play this. Developers only post this to show the creation of the game.
i played it. hell i still own it. and i love it. i had abit of trouble at first but really got into rhythm with it. it wasn't hard...except on climax mode. ick. im not that professional at it. :/
REALLY UGLY ANGEL´S HALOS
i ♥ sega (and p* )
@hajkie so true - i call those games SHEEPWARE.
Whats the song?
Mistery Destiny
now looks like DMC , lol

@Salir that's because you sucked at it.no offense.
too bad Sega did an utterly shit job on the PS3 port....
this seems a DMC copy
Arvenna I wonder if you regret this comment, 7 years later.
It's literally made by the same director...
