In The fireman you see such a balance of historical, moden sport and classic characteristics. They are beautiful and unique. The balance of the second hand rr logo is beautiful. Enjoy.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does someone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot my login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
I first saw this watch about six months ago and wanted it ever since. I've probably watched your review 20 times over that time period. I feel it's only right that I come back and comment that I finally purchased one today. It's my first big watch purchase, my first BALL, and my first Swiss piece. I am definitely looking forward to its arrival.
I had a Rolex, Tudor and Ball and I can say without hesitation the best watch is the Ball watch. It is the best value for money. Period. It also has a historical provenance that competes with any other watch maker out there. If you are in the market for an excellent watch that is priced appropriately... then this is your daisy.
Really, really good review. Spot on. I've had my Fireman Enterprise for a about 6 months now and absolutely love it. This is my second Ball watch and I highly recommend the brand.
We actually have a Ball AD in my town so I've have the pleasure of inspecting a number of their watches in person. They do make very high quality timepieces for less expense than the usual Swiss competition. They remind me a bit of Oris in that regard. One thing to mention is that the tritium tubes will diminish in intensity in ten to twenty years (tritium's radioactive half-life is 12.5 years) so long-term ownership will involve having Ball replace the dial and tubes. But other than that, Ball is a niche brand for watch nerds and if you find one that appeals, they should provide excellent service, particularly for those that can utilize the all-night visibility of the MB Mircotec tritium tubes.
I can confirm it is gorgeous. Bought mine from Watches of Switzerland in Singapore, with a super good price. Just fits perfectly, not too thick and is stunning to see and look at. No other watch matches the long indices out there. Gnomon watches have the unique red second hand, but it is more expensive and I was not ready for this (small) eccentricity yet. But both versions are beautiful (and the lumes, it is just such as a good idea for prolonged low light exposure like in a long flight). Price is just unbeatable. Highly recommended !
This caught my eye a couple of years ago and I have finally pulled the trigger. A nice step up to my "affordable collection". Now patiently waiting for it to be delivered. I'm not a fan of the butterfly clasp though. Great video.
That's my only knock that friction butterfly clasp. Concerned it will wear and come undone on wrist over time. Prefer the fold over locking or deployant with the presser tabs. For the money I've yet to see a perfect watch that has it all but this is damn close.
@@ciresolstice I am about to get one of these after trying it on several times. These watches are so well made I have no doubt the clasp will be highly functioning years and years in the future. I have never had the clasp fail on any other watches I have as well.
Thank you for accuratly describing the tubes... so many people think that these things are these insane flashlight bright glow... I love them but you nailed
love the tritium lume, I have been loving it in my deep blue dive watch. its the ultimate lume. great for waking up in the middle of the night with foggy vision and still easily reading the time.
That watch is really well done. If I hadn't bought an Explorer I would get that instead. Seriously, they nailed it. Thanks for torturing me Bruce with the image of yet another watch that I had managed to avoid. Haha. --Michael
Thank you, I'll try to improve the quality and variety of the content this year. The nice thing is the larger I get as a channel, the more companies or dealers are disposed to lending a watch to review
I picked this up last week. The strap is very heavy and clunky so I have changed it for a dark brown Italian leather strap and it has really enhanced the overall appearance of the watch. Very pleased with this purchase
I have the Nightbreaker and like my dial better but love the "RR" counterbalance on yours. Almost perfect. Thought mine was until you mention the lug holes for the bracelet, but I have never wanted to change the comfortable one supplied. The movement is top of the line function wise.
I love it. It's the lowest priced in the Ball range and it's still a stunner. It's been a grail of mine for a long time and I'm going to buy a used one soon. I really don't mind the proportions of the crown. I thought the only negative would be the butterfly clasp with no half links but I heard that it does have 2 half links so I bought one preowned 10 minutes ago, ha.
Great vid- now subbed. Really like the macro video shots you do. A lot of ppl hate on Ball- but for the money they are nice watches- their detailing is spot on- for example the etching of the ‘RR’ logo on the clasp and quality of bracelets is almost upper tier. 👍
Nice ball watch, and nice Ball swag. I don't know if you buy grey market, but I just purchased a Ball hydrocarbon x-lume for $1250 shipped from Shopworn with a Valentines coupon they were offering. That's a $3600 watch from an AD. You should check them out. It came factory shrink wrapped with box and hang tags...of course no manufacturer warranty, but it's a regular old ETA that most reliable watch repair guys should know. Keep up the nice work
Thanks for the review Bruce Williams! I noticed and liked the Fireman Enterprise prior to seeing your review, but after seeing your review I purchased this watch from Gnomon. I love it!
Ball Watch Co. offers some of the highest quality watches for the price in my experience. Every one I have had really punches above it's weight. I have the Skindiver II, which has wider markers, making the tritium visible from across the room. I also like the fact that they are truly a brand for the watch enthusiast, rather than just being popular for name recognition...Great content as always man!
I’m no expert on watches but not only do I see this as a lot of watch for that price point, I also think this watch goes toe to toe finish wise with a lot of other brands at higher price points. Incredibly well made and eye catching, I’m very tempted to pick one up.
Yoav Nir It's a two-step process to get the lume. The tritium decays by beta-decay which is a nuclear reaction and then the beta particles cause a chemical reaction with the phosphor which emits the light you see. Tritium tubes on their own are not luminescent, they need the phosphor to emit the photons.
Hi Bruce. I did buy the Ball enterprise shortly after watching your video. Have a Ball AD here in Philly. I commented on one of your videos think maybe this one . Had a Steinhart Ocean one which was my first serious Swiss watch. Sold it to fund part of this one and have not regretted it. I have a large wrist wears awesome. Have had this watch about a month wearing as my daily watch. It’s totally awesome. My personally grail watch is the Tudor Pelogos and Rolex Oyster Perpetual. Thanks for the video and in particular this watch. Ball has a lot of funky looking designs and until I saw this particular one would never have given a Ball watch a second look. ;;)
Great video! You actually show the details much more clearly than Ball's official site does. I want either this or their new Engineer M pre-order so badly......! Just goes to show how much extra you're paying for pedigree with some other brands as Ball sure doesn't seem too far down the "diminishing returns" curve if you compare apples to apples.
I wish Ball would use more t 100 tubes. T 100 would be four times brighter than the t 25 used in your watch. Other than that-Ball Watch makes some incredible watches!
That is a GREAT looking wrist watch. Thank you for discussing the characteristics of this very aesthetically-pleasing time piece! Strictly off of looks, it appears to be cost more than the $1K price point! 👍
Such a lot of brands out there it's easy to miss some superb watchmakers like Ball like I did for a good while .Love the tritium tubes and would never expecedt to see them on something quite as dressy .Excellent value too ,
Thank you for your review and for introducing me to Ball watches. It all started for me when I went to Google looking for a recommendation for a watch with a magnified date window. One click led to another, and I found myself investigating the Ball line. Then I learned of the founder's history - I'm a native of Cleveland OH - and I was even more intrigued. Well, I haven't bought one yet, but I plan on purchasing a Ball within a month. I'll probably go with the very model you reviewed, although it is just a tad bit dressier than what I'm really looking for. I may go with the Fireman Racer because it's a little sportier. But either way, a new Ball watch figures prominently in my very near future. Thanks again!
Nice review - I'm loving my Enterprise. Bought at unreal $750 USD from Rasputin Watch on eBay and registered immediately on Ball's support site. Watch definitely has a premium feel. Prefer wearing it even over my Rolex Datejust. Loving this brand so much I pulled the trigger and spent $1K to preorder their Engineer II Navigator
Nice looking watch....Not sure who copies who...but i just bought a Tag Carrera Twin Time calibre 7 and they look very similar. Maybe a watch guru can tell me the difference between the 2. I certainly know there is a significant price difference.
In the past 6 months I was briefly intrigued by Ball Watch Co.myself but never pulled the trigger. My "collection" is very simple these days, a Seiko Blumo that never gets worn and needs to be sold and the Damasko DA37 that I wear every single day. Just haven't been able to bring myself to sell the Sumo, yet. Ball has several interesting models and their own cool anti-shock/mag tech along with the lumed tubes. Just a simple one like what you have featured is a very nice deal for a Swiss automatic with 100m WR dressy and sporty both. Maybe you'll dive down the Ball Rabbit Hole now.... it appears fairly deep and new pre-orders coming quite often as the company decides how it wants to deliver its goods...lately more direct to consumer than through ADs which has ranckled them a bit...at least the one here locally. Nice vid as always.
Thank you. Those Damaskos are seriously tough. Do you have the bracelet? I agree about the direct business model. If they can cut prices, its only better for consumers. They could benefit from positive word of mouth. Maybe take a leaf out of watchbuys book and do some traveling road shows. Let people see the watches in person if they are on the fence
Great idea about Ball adopting a road show format! I do not have the DA37 on bracelet but I recently sold a DA46 catch and release that did and the bracelet is unique and beautiful. I’m low on actual watches but I have been purchasing leather straps for the Damasko from the likes of Santoni and Casa Fagliano. They upgrade the toolish DA37 significantly. The straps cost more than SKX and Turtles. Too many watches give me anxiety. I knew you previously loved a Damasko but you grew beyond it and I get that. I’m a minimalist so they appeal greatly to me. Keep up the great vids! See you at SIHH. (In my dreams)
I don't know, Man. No crown-guard. Then again, what do i know..i just realised it took me four and a half minutes to spell 'guard', (does that look right?) oh, Awesome hovering special-effect with the ETA movement and caseback. Great stuff! PS- i checked Ball's Website..check out the night-time luminous view when hovering the mouse over the pictures, it's so YOU!
Your collection has gone through a radical change over the last year. Are you going to do a state of the collection any time soon? How many watches do you currently own?
Oh man, its been all over the place. I have anywhere from 3-12 watches at a time, but am constantly flipping to check out new stuff and get interesting content. I might do one when I settle down a bit. I am going to be taking a leaf from your book and rebuy what I miss. So that would be a Marinemaster, which I really miss. Intrigued to see pictures of a upcoming green version though!
jmbosco2002 Hi Joe, I own SARB035 and Ball Fireman Glory in black. Seiko plays with the light better - both the hands and dial but its lume is very temporary. My Seiko runs at +7s/day and my Ball is at +1s/day. Bracelet is also much better executed on the Ball. If I were about to choose watch now I would buy 904L Engineer III with blue sunburst dial. Feel free to let me know what did you buy.
Jeffrey McMahon thanks Jeff. I film the meat of the video at my office under fluorescent lighting, but it’s well lit. For the close ups I use an adjustable soft light box I got on amazon. Then the outdoor shots I try to get either in morning or afternoon to avoid the strength of the sun
The fact there is no micro adjustment and you didn't mention it is a minus to this watch and some other ball watches. I have this watch but had to change the strap as I couldn't get it to fit as I wanted
@bruce Great video, thank you! I am looking for a graduation watch and man this watch meets all my standards, just a quick question: how would you compare the quality of this watch to entry pieces Sinn, Omega, Tudor?
I am new to watches for the most part, would you say this is an EDC watch? To me this watch looks like it can pull off being a dress watch as well. Anyone feel free to comment.
Seriously considering this one as my next purchashe. I have been very dialed in to dive watches, which is something I need but when I saw this I thought it was breath-taking and a perfect watch for everyday wear (working in an office environment). What do you think of the watch now almost 2 months later?
Hi Bruce Watched your video on the enterprise a few weeks ago. Became very interested in the enterprise and Ball watch. Checked out the website Ball USA. While many of the styles were out of stock, they did have the enterprise and I ordered it directly. I had the watch in 4 days. Spent the weekend with the watch. Also totally impressed with this timepiece. A new collector My first Swiss watch is a Steinhart Ocean one 39 green bezel. Do not have the funds for an extensive collection but these two certainly fit the bill for the time being . I love the simplicity and elegance of dial. Next is a Tudor Style and finally a Pelagos. I do have a Rolex date being refurbished as we speak. Was left in the drawer by my uncle for many years. He gave it to me as a gift so I’m bitting the bullet and letting Rolex handle the refurbishment. I have a 6 compartment watch box and a promise to my wife who is indulging me in this expensive hobby that’s when I reach the 6 compartment I stop. Lol Didn’t say I couldn’t trade and acquire :)). Anyway thanks for all the great information appreciate your thorough and useful info. A loyal follower of your Chanel Jack, Philly,Pa
Great video and a great watch for the price, I agree with you about the crown but drilled lugs on a dress watch that’s a no no. And a very happy New Year to you and your subscribers.
In The fireman you see such a balance of historical, moden sport and classic characteristics. They are beautiful and unique. The balance of the second hand rr logo is beautiful. Enjoy.

What a beautiful timepiece. Reminds me of Grand Seiko for some reason. Thanks for another great review !
Appreciate it
What a beautiful timepiece!!! I'm sure this is as good a build as some brands ten times the price!! Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Paolo Marinaro thank you, it’s been very impressive

That is a great point. It seems comparable to most lume compounds in the fact that after a decade it just doesn't have the pop it used too.

jmbosco2002 Hi Joe, I own SARB035 and Ball Fireman Glory in black.
Beautiful watch...does the Bracelet taper?
I'm impressed with your video production values. Can you recommend any kind of lighting for indoors? Do you use anything?
Jeffrey McMahon thanks Jeff. I film the meat of the video at my office under fluorescent lighting, but it’s well lit. For the close ups I use an adjustable soft light box I got on amazon. Then the outdoor shots I try to get either in morning or afternoon to avoid the strength of the sun
Okay, a soft light box, I'll check that out. Thank you.
Very nice dresswatch.
The fact there is no micro adjustment and you didn't mention it is a minus to this watch and some other ball watches. I have this watch but had to change the strap as I couldn't get it to fit as I wanted
Sorry, just about every butterfly clasp will not have micro adjustment holes
@bruce Great video, thank you! I am looking for a graduation watch and man this watch meets all my standards, just a quick question: how would you compare the quality of this watch to entry pieces Sinn, Omega, Tudor?
Would you recommend this watch for my collection that has the seiko sarb033 & the borealis dw 300? Thanks.👍🏻
It's a Beauty, thanks for another good video
Ball & Zodiac are paramount in quality
Beautiful watch
Bruce, how would this Fireman Enterprise compare to a SARX035? Pros/cons?
Bruce would you consider this an Aqua Terra alternative?
That’s a nice one. Will you pre-order the Engineer M Challenger with Ball’s in-house 80hr-reserve caliber?
I am really thinking about it. I like the 40mm grey dial version
I am new to watches for the most part, would you say this is an EDC watch? To me this watch looks like it can pull off being a dress watch as well. Anyone feel free to comment.
You may have found my next watch! Very nice.
Thank you!
I recently bought a Hamilton Khaki Pilot Day Date, based partly on your review. Keep up the good work.
Seriously considering this one as my next purchashe. I have been very dialed in to dive watches, which is something I need but when I saw this I thought it was breath-taking and a perfect watch for everyday wear (working in an office environment).
What do you think of the watch now almost 2 months later?
Its a really great office watch
Yeah, I can imagine but it feels like it is good for many occassions. Do you still have it in your collection?
Enjoy your new watch! I wonder what the meaning is behind the name, "Fireman Enterprise"?
Hi Bruce
Watched your video on the enterprise a few weeks ago.

Jack, these kinds of first hand comments are the best. Love hearing about your watch journey man. Congrats!
Bruce, it's been a few months now. Any additional thoughts on the Ball. Has it been taking more or less of the available wrist time?
Спасибо за качественные обзоры!
Понимаю, что вопрос субъективного характера.... Но все же
Очень интересно по вашему мнению рейтинг швецарских часов .
Например как бы вы роставили следующие марки:
Oris ,Maurice lacroix , Raymond Weil, tag Heuer, longines, ball, rado,
baume & mercier.
Заранее спасибо!!!
Большая заводная головка не мешает ношению на левой руке?
Very nice watch. Does it come with a screw-down crown?
One remark from me, i am not a fan of polished links on a bracelet. But that is personal taste.
Yes, screw down crown. Surprisingly the threaded stem is very long so it takes quite a few turns to fully lock it in
Really fabulous & thoughtful review mate.
Hey Bruce, you should try the Hamilton Jazznaster Day Date if you get the chance. Would love to hear your thoughts on it!
I'll keep my eye out, I have been very impressed with other hamiltons that I have handled.
Watching this video i purchased a Ball watch. Were can i get a one of those baseball caps?
Great video and a great watch for the price, I agree with you about the crown but drilled lugs on a dress watch that’s a no no.
And a very happy New Year to you and your subscribers.
Gavin Wenban happy new year!
