UPDATE. In 2021 they removed "tools options" as a docker in Krita 4.3.
Now to add a reference image, click the reference tool on the left as you normally would. Afterwards you now have to click on the "tool settings" icon right below the "window" tab and to the left of the brush icon on the top of your screen. Then just select your reference.

I don't see it, I click on the pin, I then click on the tools, but the only thing there is scripts.

@@_m889 For me, I had to change the workspace to big paint. Now when I click the pin, the 'tool options' for it are over on the right bottom side.

Hi there great video :)
Quick question , i made sure on the settings i had the same check marks you did. and when i hit the pin i can not get the image loader to show up , it still shows all of the pens/markers on the bottom right. Any help would be great thanks

Excuse me sir, do you know how to save reference images WITH your artwork? Every time I try to save as a PNG or a JPG, it removes all the reference images in the piece entirely. I've tried merging all the layers together and flattening the image, but I get the same result every time.

Is there a way to pin the reference images to the camera and not the canvas, so that if I for example put the image in the top right corner and move around the canvas I will always see it in the top right corner?

@@christopherwashi even if I add layers to the canvas, it doesn't work, it's like if the reference image it's not counted as canvas with this method. But you gave me an idea, I could make a layer on the canva and put in the image right? I'm gonna try it thank you!

In the tool options sidebar, after you select the pin icon and input your reference picture, there will be slider options to change the opacity levels. Just lower the opacity and draw right over it.
