When I was young and foolish, I laughed when my father said that the greatest musical instrument was the human voice. I am old now, and a little wiser.
Dylan Thomas ? 😊
@@1942december it certainly does sound like a Dylan Thomas quote. I googled it to make sure I got the wording right, but couldn't find it. I'm not sure where I first read it.
@@RiderVirago : Now as I was young and easy under the apple boughs
About the lilting house and happy as the grass was green …………. FERN HILL by Dylan Thomas
A beautiful poem - enjoy 😊
@@1942december a sort-of cross between thomas and coleridge, possibly?
😅
I sang Sacred Music in choirs for a few decades. Illness took my voice and energy. At times, during performance, I felt I would spontaneously teleport to another realm . The utmost joy was almost overwhelming. I miss being surrounded by those beautiful voices.
Sing in your heart ❤
Take care
I truly believe that being part of a great group of singers in a chorus is one of the greatest things God has given me the chance to do. I am so grateful for music.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.
I am in my church at this very moment. It's open for visitors and I'm the host for today. 🙂
This beautiful choir sounds heavenly and gives an extra dimension to being in this magnificent building. 🙏❤
I used to be a volunteer cleaner at one of the redundant churches cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust. I always too my ghetto blaster and played nothing but sacred music during my cleaning: I used to pretend there was a real choir in the chancel. Even though the church was open to the public, I found it sad that nobody came in while the music played.
Exactly what I do with this selection!
If you are the host, does that mean we get to eat you?
High church music is like a taste of Heaven for me...
Exquisite. Ethereal. Angelic. Divine. May those who read this post (and their loved ones) stay well during these Covid days. Peace, Blessings and, Grace to all.
and to you!

Thank you for your kindness.
There are some real gems in this interesting compilation.
Sure, it's too long for me to listen to, all in one go - so I sampled a few of my favourites and I wasn't disappointed:
hence I am bookmarking the post, so I can dip into it as and when I have the time and inclination to explore the tracks that are completely new to me, or perhaps long forgotten.
Many thanks for posting.
Thank you for listing these! Incredible! My 90 year old dad enjoying them & being momentarily way nicer too.
I was feeling a little gloomy, but not now. Hauntingly beautiful. Ethereal. Uplifting.
Yes, let us be uplifted into the ways that are of God with every virtue, every way of holy spirit fruit, and unto all good joy.

Beautiful. A hint of what the choir in heaven will sound like, with millions in perfect harmony.
Oh, please, Clay, spare us this nonsense . . . millions singing in perfect harmony for all eternity? . . . . trying to expunge our earthly sins. What you are listening to is some of the supreme creativity of man.
When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright, shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we first begun
Singing with millions of others in heaven? I'll pass.
Encountering beauty is to encounter the reality of the Divine. Thank you!! 😊
I am a Bass choir member since 1958. I accidentally stray to your realm today. At the outset, I felt the heavenly tunes played in my earphones. I will tune in to the 5-hours of your choir performances. Thank you for this huge great choral compilation. i was a member of The Methodist Church for 50 years. In the year 2000 I revert back to the Sabbath keeping congregation-The Living Church of God where I sing as a Bass again.
Wow, 50 years! Keep up putting yourself forward together with the ways that are of God unto all good and joy with peace.
Wow; Sabbath keeper... Excellent, hopefully many more will experience the joy of keeping Sabbath 😎
"This Spirit gives life, the flesh profits nothing."
Thank you Micheas. As you worship, I imagine your choir becomes part of the angelic choirs, seamlessly attending to the glory of The Lord of all creation.
Thank you for your testimony

It's so great to have all these classic choral pieces in one place. We need this music to lift our hearts and souls at this time of the global pandemic.
... and at this time of deliberate global cruelty of kind and degree never known before, by Authority (for gain, of course).
I relate this music to my late father who after serving 3 years in the RAF ( National Service) and wanted to study Theology. Unfortunately my father couldn’t afford it but on his passing my mum found all days Prayers he had written to God . I hope my father sits next to him and listens to this music all the time . I feel closer to my father when I listen to Choral Music

Oh my! This is like going back in time to when I was in the choir every year. I can still hit nearly 3 octaves, but illness has softened my voice to barely audible. Still, the exquisite music lifts my heart and soul into the heavens. What took so long for me to find you? I do believe the angels are listening. 💘
I am so sorry that illness has damaged your amazing voice but so glad you found this or as you suggest you were guided to this . I believe that too x may god continue to bless you. My listening to great choral works uplifts me x my humble xperience of singing in choirs or traditional music. Be a fb friend if you want , i feel very warmly to you, may god continue to bless you anyway. Love , karen

My life could have gone a completely different route. I was invited to join some boys choir in New York City, but it meant a lifestyle change, living in tight 4-person dorms with hard bunk beds, and I simply wasn't ready. But it might have changed me, because I was too shy in school... and I would've fit in at choir. Ah well. Long time ago :)
A stellar level that none of the choirs I have ever sung in could reach
Thank you for posting this incredible music. It's almost as if the doors of Heaven opened and beauty came out.

I've been there (1981?) and I believe heard such in person, while they were practicing. Accompanied by someone who had graduated at Oxford or Cambridge, and therefore had the right to visit and poke our heads in the door while they were practicing. Oh my. The definition of sacred. Glorious!
Thank you so much. I believe that it was the choir of Kings College . A superb Choir indeed. Carols from Kings is a must. As a former choirboy in the 1950 s All Saints Church , Oakham Rutland ( happy days) The choir master a Mr. Missen was absolutely brilliant. And the vicar Rev. Prytherch who resided in the vicarage with his sister Miss Prytherch and their Boxer dog. But unfortunately Mr. Missen left and went to Newcastle upon Tyne. His replacement a Mr. Forsdyke was not anywhere as good. So I left the choir. But I still have a passion for church music and Classical music which is equally splendid.
Hi James, an interesting comment. I was Assistant to Russell Missin at Newcastle Cathedral. I passed the link to his widow, she was delighted to read the comment..
Goodness, what a small world we live in - so interconnected. Russell Missin taught me organ at Newcastle Cathedral when I was an undergraduate in the early 1970s, and in 1985 I taught for a term at Oakham School and went to All Saints every Sunday not having (until now) any idea that Russell had been the organist there.
One of the most beautiful things humans can do is sing in unison like this. Music of the gods!
Yeah, I grew up on rock and pop music and stuff like that. Then I got into folk music, ballads, sea songs, and from there into shape note singing. And that made me realize ultimately that my very favorite music, the stuff that reaches me the deepest and effects me the most powerfully is a cappella harmony. Not only is the music itself powerful, but I intellectually love the fact that it comes from nothing but people using their voices together as an instrument to create a beautiful but immaterial work of art. They used to call the human voice the "sacred harp", because it is the instrument that God gave us each from birth. Some churches still only use a cappella singing for that reason.
This music was written for and inspired by the one true God, our Lord Jesus Christ. It has nothing to do with “little g” gods.
The words, "King of the Jews" were placed above Jesus' head on his cross as a mockery of him. It made people laugh and curse him. It was written in three languages: Aramaic, Greek, and Latin. Both the statement and the languages were sanctified by his blood and divine person. Aramaic is the language of the ancient Palestinian Christians and the Apostles. Greek is the language of the great Eastern Orthodox Churches. Latin is the language of the Western Church (Catholic and Protestant). Now, though Christianity is receding and even mocked in the West, most people who hear this music continue to experience a sense of awe and wonder. Many ask themselves, "What could produce such lofty and heavenly music that touches my soul." Look no further than that cross on Calvary.
