- Sometimes trading a superstar turns out to be the only option for some teams.... which has resulted in some pretty terrible trades throughout NBA history!

Prime example- Nuggets trading for AI
I’d argue the pistons trading for AI was worse
The nuggets didn't really give up much for AI tho compared to these trades. Plus they flipped him at the perfect time for Billups
@@MrBojanglez576 good take, but billups was washed as well
@@braydenlewis894 nuggets still had more success with billups than with AI
@@teo.took.40.benadryl that's true, but I'm just saying we shouldn't have traded for AI in the 1st place, you make a very valid point.
Don’t forget the Thunder also have gotten Jalen Williams and Tre Mann from that deal. Jalen Williams looks amazing so far, and Tre Mann has potential as solid backup scoring guard
They usually don't work because the superstar is making a huge contract which makes it tough to match and you can only negotiate with the teams they choose sometimes, so that removes teams with better assets
Owners don’t care about winning, they get a superstar and get a huge boost in engagement from people
@@dkdebest Depends on the owner, if it's a new owner trying to establish a culture, or an owner that has missed the playoffs for a long time, they will make win-first moves
Clippers wouldn’t have gotten kawhi if they didn’t make that deal it was pretty much trading that for kawhi and George and considering most those picks won’t even matter I’m fine with it
And what has this duo done
@@youngblade2826 what has the thunder done

The pg trade People say it was bad because of shai if the clipper did not traded shai fot pg the trade will be awesome
Wolves traded two future all stars for a year or two of jimmy butler
The Hornets drafted SGA and traded him to the Clippers for the next pick in the draft and 2 Future 2nds. That next pick in the draft that SGA got traded for ended up being none other than Miles Bridges, who is still suspended indefinitely for beating up his fiancee. The SGA trade was a curse 😂😂
It was a blessing for Thunder fans😅
SGA curses the team that traded him. 😈
I would have the trade where the nets got Kevin garnet and a few other players and the Celtics got a 2016 first and a 2017 first round pick who turned ou to be mvp candidate Jayson Tatum and an all nba talent in jaylen brown for a washed up kg. Arguably the best duo in the league
I love how this guy sets rules at the beginning of the video and immediately disobeys them at the second player listed. Then, does it again later in the video (ex: Blake Griffin). 😂
When you’re doing the comparisons when the Rockets had CP three and then they traded for Russell Westbrook. The season was shortened because of the pandemic yes they won a few games more with Chris Paul but they ended up with the fourth seed with Chris Paul in the fourth seed with Russell Westbrook. And the team average more points with Westbrook. But they were a better fit with Chris Paul but both slow down in the playoffs.
And, they did do better with Westbrook than i thought they would. I expected a total train wreck.
@@demonkingbadger6689 Exactly that’s what I thought. Everybody likes to hate on Westbrook. Westbrook is the type of player he’s very good but he needs the ball in his hands to run the teams Offense . Even on the Lakers he almost averaged a triple double he had like 14.5 pts 6 and 6 something like that so if he would’ve had the ball for a couple minutes longer in the game he would’ve been averaging a triple double easy. Everybody hating on him super bad and he wasn’t playing bad at all. The Lakers had a lot of stars super stars to go through first first the balls and go through LeBron. Then it’s gonna go through Anthony Davis when he’s playing and healthy lol Anthony is a fucking beast. He just needs to learn to stay healthy add some more muscle something. Then Russell Westbrook after Anthony Davis. So I’m for sure and always gonna be a Russell Westbrook fan. On the Laker fan over anything Kobe Bryant rest in peace
@@kennethbenson7259 yeah, with him and harden, i believe they had the previous season's 1st and 2nd in time controlling the ball per possession, that generally cant work.
And i remember Westbrook had a one year renaissance in Washington before the LA mess. (Washington did seem a place fit for him, albeit the Wizards was long overdue for rebuilding, so trading Westbrook made since.
He is just a westbrook hater he weird
Dwight's Howard trade to the Lakers was terrible to
8:06 nah they good now 😂
“Defending Champs”😭😭☠️
can’t believe the rockets traded cp3 and a first for russ 🤦🏼🤦🏼
💀 when is trading for Russ ever a good idea he’s only ever been good on his first team
@@evanreynoso6342 It was the first trade for Russ chill
Harden left him
Kd left him
Pg13 left.
Westbrick fan. He just needs a team that understands him and let him triple double.
No team ever understands him. His triple double doesnt win in playoffs.
First round exit ever since kd left until harden pick up him from the streets
@@WestbrickFansGotNoBrains 💀
@@carboy101 but it was a bad trade because you had 2 players with the highest usage rate in the nba on the same team it was never going to work out
The amount of times I had to go back and listen to him call the timberwolves defending champs......LOL what
Bruh the nets got finessed in the James harden trade, twice 💀💀
Cavs and 76ers won the trade.
That LAC-OKC trade was essentially Kawhi and PG for Shai and picks
46 wins and missing the playoffs is crazy.
The pierce and Garnett trade was one of the worst trades ever for the nets. How is it not on here
Love the vids!
Kind of early to call the MN trade
The Butler story says more about the Timberwolves than it does Butler imo. You make moves for to be a winning team, you better act like it.
Imagine this lineup now
PG: LaVine (he used to be one)
SG: Edwards
SF: Wiggins
PF: Markannen
C: KAT
This roster would not work at all. Lots of guys who need the ball to be successful, and literally only one guy (Wiggins) who's even ok defensively. This starting lineup would be like a 20 win team lmao
horrible defensively
@@ry_an. Ik but still fun
@@jaceygaither2581 still fun Ikik lavine at point guard 0 playmaking
@@jaceygaither2581 not 20 wins prolly 35-47 type
Thank you kwahi! Lmao
I thought that Sacramento traded away cousins because he was fighting with the coaching staff and his teammates.
The Andrew Bynum trade should have been on here
I don't understand 2 things. 1- Why do teams continue to trade for Russell Westbrook and 2- Why do analysts insist he makes whatever team he gets traded to better?
Cause their dumb
Kawhi fault for demanding pg. If he was patient he would be playing with SGA and they would need a pg.
and expect a second and third year SGA being a championship caliber player? lol ridiculous
@@stewybstewy clippers still didn't win anything and are now aging. And they lost 5 first rounders. There is no future for the clippers. Lakers how ever won at least one ring and now have a brighter future with Vanderbitl. Russell, Hachimaru, Reaves, Beasely and Max Christie all solid role players they just need a superstar and they are set to make a run for the chip.
I think if a team makes a 'win now' trade, they are always going to look bad 5 years later simply because they traded their future for their present and their present is now their past. Basically it's 'championship or bust'.
When we traded for brodie..epic failure..when we traded for dwight and steve
And we must not forget that Butler then went on to whoop Minnesota's starters with the third stringers 🤣
Never forget the rockets offered the twolves 4 first round picks for Jimmy
lmao The Champs Timberwolves!!
“No forced trades” .. “So Simmons forced and trade and so did James Harden” bruh broke his own rules not 2 minutes in LMAO
“kings mix with” in case you couldn’t pause fast enough
Bucks 3 picks 2 or 3 swaps(don't remember exact) for jrue holiday worked out great.
KD trade is going to be a bust
Nah
@@sensorylimb5235 hard to say.
No
defending champs 💀
Even though Clippers haven’t got anything done. Trading for a MVP calibre player which also got them the man who just won a chip for Toronto for Shai and a few picks was a no brainer
Look I get the Rudy trade was massive, was definitely lopsided in jazz favor. But the season isn’t even over yet and the wolves look playoff bound -without their superstar in Kat. Hard to say it went wrong when it’s literally still happening AND they have a positive record down arguably their best guy
This didn’t age well
@@christiancj8168 how so they in the playoffs
New video idea: best nba player of all time from ever letter in the alphabet. Ex: A is for Allen iverson
With a title like "Trading a Superstar Backfired!" including the PG trade is disingenuous at best. The OKC fanbase is the best in sports at hyping their team up to be much better than it actually is-by a lot. Whether it be talking about mid tier at best players like they're stars, acting like Presti is an elite GM (over 10 years since he last drafted an all star, having KD/Russ/Harden/PG/Melo all come and go with only 1 finals appearance to show for it), or retiring the jersey of a guy who averaged 5 ppg for his career.
Respect to SGA for turning out a star, but I highly doubt the picks they acquired will amount to anything with what I pointed out. Plus, in every subsequent year including this year, LAC has STILL been better than OKC. So I fail to see how this trade backfired for the clippers.
The Clippers didn’t draft Shai, the Hornets did.
I’m still laughing by the fact that Nets fans tried to convince us they robbed the sixers 💀
I mean they did get Seth Curry.😁
Detroit trading Billups to Denver for AI.
how about when the nets traded kyle korver, a top 5 shooter in hisotry for a copy machine
Did u just say t - wolves came in as defending champs ?
They won the 2022 play in finals with pat bev
@@CT-db8jl They'll win it again this year I think, first team ever to do so if they do
You can’t say clippers trade back fired because they still there and both teams ain’t did nothing yet therefore no one won the trade yet
Paul George forced that trade u said u wasn’t doin those and it was the first one
The Cousins trade allowed the Kings to trade for Sabonis, who is a huge reason why they’ve been so successful. So, it may have taken awhile, but given that Cousins never played more than 48 games & had only 2 double digit scoring seasons after the trade, I’d say it worked out for the kings.
Those two deals are unrelated. Not counting the fact they're basically 6 years apart.
George is not a superstar man
w vid
did you just say minnesota were the previous champs
joke
Trading Shai for Paul George and Kawhi doesn’t seem bad to me
is terrible clips would take sga right now for pg/kawhi lmao
@@ClydeW893 no they would not trade kawhi and pg currently for Shai he’s a dam good player but the clips are good where they are rn😂
bro said i won’t be mentioning trades with injuries then the first one that comes up is kawhi who’s been injured for years 😐😂
He doesn't mention any Kawhi trade. He was discussing the PG trade.
@@selanryn5849 yes but it’s only backfired because kawhi got injured, with healthy kawhi they’re a top team in the league
Ray didn't want to leave milwaukee George Karl punk ass wanted Gary Payton and was willing to give up ray for him george ruined the franchise for nearly 20 years
I have a feeling this kd to the suns trade might backfire for the suns as well
Possibly. I see the kyrie trade being more volatile for the Mavs though
NO
Have you watched Kawhi lately? Kinda looks like the best player on a championship level team.
Bro, stop hating on Russ
I love him. When im bored i look at westbrick and he never fails to entertain me lmaoooo.
Repent and trust in Jesus you will be e

shai doesnt become the scorer he is on the clippers
