- This performance is taken from the live broadcast of a concert at @StJohnsSmithSquare in April 2023. One of six motets by the great J. S. Bach, 'Komm, Jesu komm' was composed during the 1730's, most probably for a funeral.
With grateful thanks to BBC Four for broadcasting this concert and permitting us to share it with you, to K418 Arts for production, and to St John's Smith Square for hosting us.

Having had the immense privilege to hear Tenebrae in person recently, I urge all listeners to avail themselves to do the same if any opportunity presents itself. The recording is spectacular but cannot convey they tangible power of their voices once the listener occupies the same physical space. This ensemble is surely one of the most radiant jewels of our time.

I've never cared much for Bach, but this piece is beautiful, and Tenebrae made it so much more gorgeous. You nailed it again, Tenebrae! Well done!

Beautiful choir, exquisite actually, but I think your sound engineer has some deafness at about 1.5 khz. This recording will about take off your head at that frequency.
I confess Bach has never been my favorite composer, but I must admit his music can be mesmerizing. It sucks you in, and you feel that it could go on forever. Another masterful performance by Tenebrae!
