I am with you brother. Retractable door handles are one of the more stupid ideas to be implemented. Classic example of someone asking, can we do this, but no one asked, should we do this?

On the escalade they do have an exterior key hole, there’s a plastic cover you have to remove on the driver door handle to expose the key hole.

The Cadillac Escalade has a cover beside the door handle that pops off revealing a keyhole. On the key fob there is a Botton you press that pops a key out. You stick the key in the key and turn, and the door pops open lol. But yeah, I would rather have normal door handles.

Funny because Nissan's at least from 2013 to 2015 if the battery dies even the physical key can't open the door because the key just triggers an electric lock and unlock function.

Eurovans are great for camping. Some had the Westfalia package with a pop-up roof, stove, sink, etc. These were the "van-life" before van life became a thing. The engine in that one is a 2.8L 6-cylinder, which started later in the Eurovans life. It greatly improved what little performance they had!

I hate the electronic handles in my 2021 escalade, they don't even work properly most of the time but the dealer says it's normal. When i push the button in and quickly pull and not let go of the button the door will open a bit but lock in the middle area and i have to depress and press again to get it to release so i can open the door. The dealer said that i was opening the door "too fast" even though I'm opening it perfectly normal and that i need to press the button and wait a second before pulling the handle. What a damn joke.

Part of the reason im stuck in the mid-late 00's with my cars. The direct injection and afm has made longevity a thing of the past for most people's cars. If your not dropping thousands at the mechanic or becoming one yourself its damn near impossible to keep a newer car 200k miles.

Agree with you 100% on the Cadillac door handles Randy. Technology for technologies sake. As a Design Engineering Director, we recognize it as a Marketing game of "one-ups-manship". Unfortunately, the robust engineering, consumer acceptance, cost containment, and durability are often overlooked in an effort to sell a more "feature-rich" or "high profile" product than the competition. Not only in cars but other consumer durable goods. Advances in technology are important but at what cost Cadillac? GM's revolving door of leadership continues to fail to learn from its past. Many other companies fail customers for different reasons, but often because of their own egos.

That E93 is definitely a good flip. Also ECS Tuning is just a parts company for BMWs, similar to FCP

there is a way to open the Cadillac escalade with out power, but you do need a key, to the very right and underneath the door handle there is a small opening, using the key to pop off the cover and there is is key cylinder exposed

I agree with you 100% on the newer Escalades. That said, great walk through.

I’ve been seeing a lot of these new GM trucks on IAA and Copart listed with “engine damage” and the kicker is they will only have like 50k miles. Also when I was in Florida I rented a 2022 Suburban and the low oil warning came on. It had 60k miles and was burning oil at an alarming rate. Budget comped me $24 for 2 quarts of oil lol. I’m sure the engine would’ve blown up if I had driven it from Port Canaveral to Orlando without adding oil 😂

If it's not broken, does it need to be fixed/improved?

Do you remember the old mechanical Escalade door handles? Those things broke all the time!

Nice Copart. My Arizona Copart has a dirt lot so the cars and engine bays are crazy dirty.

I think I like manual door handles on the vehicle so if the battery dies you can still open the doors with no problem technology

Does anyone know if that Caddy has an electric hood release as well?
Some vehicles do. The ultimate irony if the battery is located under the hood.

Just wanted to point something out on the Honda pilot that I were messing with next to the Escalade that sound is the beeping that the instrument cluster makes when the engine is off the door is open and your headlights of some sort are on rather it be the daytime running lights or ur headlights it will kill the battery in 3 hours or less not that it’s worth it I mean one wheel is one way the other is another 💀

Those headlights will go off 15 seconds after you close the door. Actually can see that in the video, the headlights turn off shortly after he moves to the front of the Pilot.

I had a New 2018 Escalade Triple Black, on costly special order factory rims. What an incredible piece of junk, from the transmission to 3 blown displays which controls everything (Thank God still under warranty) drove the dealer's Escalade more than I drove mine while in for service. Sold it before it warranty expired and NEVER looked back!

I wish my 2004 Escalade had less electronics on it . At 60,000 miles the AC blend doors went out and it's 1500.00 just for those little doors with servo motors. The electronic module under the seat goes out and sends the seat into the steering wheel. The auto leveling suspension goes out and it's 2000.00. The fix for that is to install regular shocks that work well enough. Just give me 1970s tech. Old school AC that I control with levers on the control panel. PS, PB are needed. If one must have electronic gadgets, get a Lexus
