I don't go to the gym, but as neurodivergent (sp?) I have to just look up when I'm in public. I'm so terrified of being labeled a creep. I stare off into the void basically all the time. I'm not looking at you, I'm not looking at your body, I'm just blank staring off into space. I make it a point to look up in the air, or just constantly shift my gaze side to side. I'm not catching a charge because someone thinks I'm a creeper. It sucks.

I don't blame you. The other day, my husband was about to do something very crazy. He has daughters, so he thinks every young woman out there are like his daughters, so the other day, he was about to approach a group of girls asking where they got their snow slide from because it looked a bit more stable than ours. I ran after him to tell him, "My dear man, you are 54, never ever risk approaching a group of young women, they are not like your daughters and they don't look at you as a father figure, all they think is that you are a creep approaching them." He looked at me all confused, so I had to bring him home and show him all these gym videos.

She gets back to us before the manager can get to us and she just proceeds to keep yelling at him. Well I didn't see the manager walking up so I just unleashed on this Karen. I told her to take that stick out her ass not everybody wants to look at a clout chaser who does nothing but walk the treadmill. I have to give you and others credit for improving this situation. It's actually gotten somewhat better at the LA Fitness (or whatever name it goes by today) since the first of the year. We go 4-5 times a week and GROUPS of young women wearing (as my wife describes) "exercise lingerie" were to the point of expecting a 20' "open safe space" around where they were doing their videos so their girlfriends could get a full 360 degree photo shoot. They felt perfectly entitled to expect folks like me and my wife (mid-60s who have been going to the gym since high school) to move out of the way as they did their photo circumnavigation or else you were branded "Old Creeper".

In my gym there is a "Ladies only" section. Doors with frosted glass and everything so no creep can look while some gal is getting her reps in.
There are even entire gyms that are exclusively for women. So I think on the face of it, the idea does have some merit. I think the concept is inherently sexist though - because nobody bats an eye at a "ladies only" gym or section of a gym. But I guess as soon as a "men only" gym opens for business because some dudes want to work out in peace without getting harassed by some Karen, it is going to be all torches and pitchforks, as @AFCA NSF said.
But then - just separating everyone will not solve the underlying issue. Clout chasers are gonna clout chase. No amount of separation will solve that. And if they cannot do it at the gym, they will do it someplace else. Bar, Swimming pool, you name it.
Besides, it is again just another small, but VERY loud and vocal minority who tries to ruin it for everyone by going "Meeeee! MEEEEEE! Look at MEEEEEEE!"
We should not give them a stage and just put them in their place. Which for cases like this is outside the door of the gym, with a life ban. Just make sure the door does not hit her butt on the way out, because she might sue the door off its hinges.

And one day as I was coming downstairs from where I usually did my morning cardio on an elliptical, I noticed a woman in the free weight area struggling to list weights onto the bar she wanted to use (trying to do more than she could obviously). I thought to myself "ok...don't know why she isn't asking for help when there are numerous guys around her, or why they aren't offering to help right off the bat." But by the time I got to the bottom of the stairs, stopped to get a sip of water....that woman charged up to me and demanded to know why I was eyeballing her so hard and making a huge scene! Eyeballing her...when it was barely more than a lingering look before I went about my way!!
Fortunately, one of the gym staff saw exactly what happened and escorted her out of the building. Turns out she had a history of doing that to people to try to get the gym to give her free stuff because she was "victimized in what should be a safe space." Well...thanks to what she pulled on me....she had to go find another safe space because they cancelled her membership. :)

I don’t get why seeing someone’s clothed body is labeled morally wrong. Is this really where humanity is now? The whole point of wearing clothes in public is to be modest so nothing can be seen.
The simple fact is, everyone can see the clothes you’re wearing, especially if you’re far enough way. That’s not harassment. And glances aren’t the same as staring.

What cracks me up is the fact that these women are so concerned about the one person they have captured on film. But not concerned about the millions of unknown faces that are watching thier video.

The best thing I've done gym wise is invest in a home gym. Cause I ain't got time to get caught up in all the fake shit that goes on in gyms these days.

There is a blind short-form content creator that had this happen to them.
Forget his name, but he posts shorts to UA-cam, and relayed a similar story like a year ago. Went blind in his teens, Surfs, is a Voice Actor. I would guess he's in his 40s or 50s based on the greys... I'll see if I can hunt it down.
Edit - Blind Surfer Pete Gustin is his channel name (and name name). The short in question is "Gym girl freaks out on me". Just verified it's the first hit on a youtube search.

I was called a creep at a waterpark, because I use to get alot of attention from younger women who worked there and the younger guys didnt like it.
It got really bad with gossip and caused me to get into trouble with security, who was as ignorant as the rest of the people who spread false rumors about me,fortunately they shut that ride down for good and nobody can surf anymore.
my image was ruined by false words, but I no longer see any of those people, but I have to agree it was a hurtful feeling for people treat me that way when all I done was tried to enjoy myself and others became jealous of me.

Some people are angry for good reason. Everyone deals with it differently but it doesn't help to make things even more difficult for them.

There is zero expectancy of privacy in a public place like a gym, so asking people for their permission in case they walk in front of your camera or are in the background is not valid in a court of law. That gym is wrong for putting up that sign at the entrance. It violates civil rights.

This is absolutely RIDICULOUS. They kicked the poor blind guy out?? Dude...he CAN'T SEE for crying out loud! If I was the gym manager I would've told that horrible woman to get out instead. Period. She actually harassed and disrespected a disabled individual in the face. No way I would tolerate that. I would point my finger towards the gym entrance and say " Madam, please apologize and get out". Simple.

I had a woman approach and accuse me "I told her noone was watching you, leave me alone" she did not, so I went and got a worker and told them there is a woman harassing me. They went in the back, watched the video and kicked HER out. Instill thought it was interesting that they went back to watch the video.... I feel like if I were a woman they would have just believed me. But that why I spoke up first. Lesson guys, dont engage just report bad behavior immediately. Im sure there is a tear filled video out there about how some creep got her kicked out of the gym.

That first video was total bullshit. Total setup, especially when her husband showed up and the guy left on cue. Seriously, if he was a creep, he wouldn't leave. Why? Because a guy built like that, threatening someone build like he appears to be, would be arrested for assault.
I hope the blind guy gets a huge settlement from the gym and whoever kicked him out personally.
The biggest problem with this is that when there us a problem, women will be ignored. The gal who cried wolf.
Bravo for LA Fitness, assuming they enforce it.

Roma, women do have their own gyms. Curves and the YWCA are available, but women _fought_ for access to men-only spaces like the YMCA and boxing gyms. Going to work out isn't the drama-free zone it used to be. Women-only spaces have been preserved, while men-only spaces are all but extinct.

My bassist in one of my bands was legally blind. After playing for thousands of people, women came to the stage to let me know that he was staring at them the whole show. F'n bs.

The one thing I hate when I'm out and about running my errands is a woman that obviously dresses up in the booty shorts- lowcut halter top attire!!
She comes off as "look at me, I'm available, I need attention" and when you glance her way, she acts like she's been violated in some sort of way!!!!
THAT'S, what these women at the gym act like. Just my thoughts on this subject: I hope that blind guy gets his membership re-instated or another one at a safer gym. Deep respect for you Roma.

The second story happened to pete gustin (the blind surfer guy) too. These videos just show how unfair the gym is toward men escpecially blind men.
