kalani has been doing a lot of uk vs usa food and the comparison is shocking he has already said he has lost more weight snacking on British snacks then he has eating healthy in America
Yet, they probably have really - cos curry is just a mixture of spices and herbs, innit? Curry refers to the particular spices.. Those same spices that were traded all over the then world and people would show it off to their rich friends!! Love how they used the spices in The Forme of Curry. The lady from Two Fat Ladies did a great show on a menu a few years ago, it's on YT. Really interesting..
That place DOES NOT look like a curry house. The ones in the UK are usually plush with very comfortable surroundings, usually some Indian music in the back and often an aquarium.
@@spruce381 Incorrect. Even Asians from Birmingham say Bradford curries are better. Bradford is also the record 7 time winners of the now defunct Curry Capital of Britain Award... Yet we never even entered our "best tasting" restaurants... We entered our "best looking" restaurants.

@@TheCornishCockney The Kashmir, Karachi, Sweet Centre & International versus any four restaurants in Birmingham. Forget the big names like Akbar's, Aagrah, Aakash, MyLahore, Shimla Spice, Shimlas, Jinnah, Sultans, Mughals, Kiplings, Omar's, Prashad, Mumtaz etc, the four I named at the start are the best.
I was invited to a Ghurka goat curry and they cooked it outside. It was the best curry I have ever had, and my arse did not thank me the next day. Being invited to dine with the ghurkas is an honour. The guys legit roasted it in a metal bin we chucked rubbish into.
Awesome!! Jamaican curries are based on the British/Indian input as well. So many different types of curries (not fussed with the Chinese/Thai ones meself..) I do a hybrid Jamaican/Indian one in my own way, picking up different cooking methods. As in, the curry powder I use is from Guyana, so a very Indian influenced mixture, but sooo damn good!! We like it, we eats it, we LOVES it.
I think the whole getting milk and bread in times where extreme weather is forecast, is likely a throwback to when these were the first things to disappear from circulation due to the issues with the milk and flour getting through from the countryside in days gone by. But both can be frozen, so although perishables with a relatively short shelf life in comparison to other things, they can be stored in such a way to have them available for longer.
During covid when people went crazy , I worked as a delivery driver for a major supermarket , keeping up deliveries for care homes and the elderly , I noticed what was being bought most ,so now I always have loads of toilet rolls , I bought a bread maker and bags of bread mix , learnt too drink black coffee ,I am fine bring the snow , umm beans on toast anybody😂😂😂😂
The food looked pretty good but WTF have they done with the decoration, or lack thereof. Really bright lighting & plastic chairs. It looked more like a mall food court. The places over here have subdued warm colours on the walls like reds or burgundy with gold highlights & decorative Indian arches with warm mood lighting. They feel cosy, warm & welcoming. That place had no soul.
Decoration doesn't taste nice... Although the people in charge of who to enter into national curry competitions might disagree. Bradford are also the record 7 time winners of the now defunct Curry Capital of Britain Award... Yet we never even entered our "best tasting" restaurants... We entered our "best looking" restaurants. The best restaurants in my city are the oldest ones... With plain decor and cutlery, who get ignored by the nominee pickers... But don't get ignored by TV chefs, who have featured some of them. However they still ignore the oldest overall, which is easily the best imo.
If it looks like there could be the possibility of heavy snow, only thing I’m making sure I get in is tea and milk lol.. tea was the only thing I panic brought at the beginning of the pandemic when everyone was panic buying! 😂 I made sure I had a large box in.. 😂
I was going to say milk too, but i generally have a few litres of backup uht milk in the cupboard anyway, so realistically I've never rushed to the shop to stock up on anything because of snow.
OMG a well cooked curry goat (Jamaican parents, we put the word Curry first!!) Man, sooooo good... Butter Chicken - heart attack on a plate but what a way to go... Roti is better to sop up the juices left on your plate, like Italians do with a bit of bread used as their serviette...
Went to Florida for 3 weeks a few years back in self catering appartment . Bought a loaf of bread on the 1st day . When I left there was half left and it was still "fresh" . I was amazed . Traditionally the french buy their bread twice a day as buy the afternoon the morning bread has gone stale . Makes me wonder what goes in the USA bread . BTW Goat curry is excellent.
Indian curries either takeaway or restaurants here are amazing. If you've never had it before, I'd probably avoid the vindaloo as that is quite spicy/hot, a korma is very tasty but quit mild and for a little more kick try the tikka
That place looks so cheap inside. I've never seen an Indian restaurant in the UK looking like that. Looks like a childrens school. Nothing about it says Indian restaurant
We actually have a place called The indian in Scarborough ,,, im actually sat eating Lamb Madras and a can of Red Stripe for Brekkie , unreal !!!!!! got southern fried chicken for later and had a £151 Sainsbury's order at 06:48 this morning and probably the greatest ever delivery bloke ,, much love from Yorkshire !! , Bloke in vid is a liar ,, first of all you dont start with a vindaloo taste buds gone guys a prick eaten curry all my life and he is not eating a vindaloo ,,,,,,,
If you’ve not tried curry before it might be better to try a buffet style if they do that in US. That way you can try different types to see what you like as they can range from mild to very hot.
They can also smell like perfume... Biryani - The curry version of Turkish Delight which I hate. I ordered it for the first time recently after walking around all day, out of breath with dead legs. I was starving earlier on in the day, and hadn't eaten anything to make room... Yet as soon as I ordered it to eat in, rather than take out, I realised I wasn't that hungry anymore. I attempted to eat it, but after two bites the perfume smell kept making me feel sick... Or maybe it was a bit of both the smell and my tiredness. So I asked for it to be bagged up to take away... And ate it later that night with no sickness whatsoever. The perfume smell was almost non-existent too... And it tasted quite nice. I might order it again, but I'll take it out next time, just to make sure I definitely like it.
Ive lived in Britain And America. America has some good curry places with satisfying currys but Brirain jas phenomenal currys that just leave you stunned. Hi man im a brit living in america. In England when there people are worried about an impending storm or similar, all the stores run out of toilet paper - not as perishable as milk and eggs, but still irrational hoarding.
It's called a mason jar, the first glass jar with a screw on lid invented in New Jersey. They now come with full kids and lids with a hole for a straw. They've been available here for years, and quite useful in summer. The lid stops flies and stuff getting in your drink.
My taste buds went crazy at exact same moment. Was gonna have sweet n sour Chinese chicken, but now I'm thinking curry (only had it 4 times this week) ....

Curry is the best. My favourite is a Jalfrezi. For a Naan I got with a Keema or a Peshwari.
