I mean I love UX design and this is so far amazing UX applied to speakers. They really should give him an award and license this designer/ designer team to other companies to teach them how to do stuff and hire people that design that experience with their products. I mean I'm really impressed.

Between these and the vanatoo t1e, in a living room scenario, which has more defined and prominent vocals?
This is most important to me because they will be used often for TV shows and movies, and the fact that I won't have a center channel makes me really concerned about clear dialogue that stands out from other sound effects

    • @timschutte6924

, if your gonna spend $600 bucks on a set of powered speakers, I would go with a pair of JBL ARENA 130s and a SMSL SA 98 amp. Much better and it's only $400 bucks.
Then you could get a powered subwoofer like the BIC F-12. Then your really gonna have a much better system. It comes out to about $630 bucks total. Just saying

@@timschutte6924 I hear you. That's how I'd prioritize. But I have yet to hear the new generation of self-powered, digital crossovered, pre-dsp fixed speakers. I suppose if you want to start a system with exclusively that kind of speaker, vocal clarity would be a good criterion for the first pair.

    • @mattrismatt
      @mattrismatt 5 років тому +1

@@timschutte6924 With a massive wave-guide, the JBL ARENA 130s will likely present a larger sound-stage, but they will not provide "more defined and prominent vocals". The Vanatoo t1e would be a far superior all-in-one solution, with various input types accepted and nothing else to buy... except maybe a subwoofer down the line, if so desired.

Great review, just to make sure: I shouldn't use LFE mode on a sub with the TUKs, right?
I've just purchased a PB-1000 pro so I guess I'll eventually figure this out when it arrives. 😅

How are the Tuk's for you? Some people say they're colder, and thin they'd be better for producing music than enjoying music, but the acoustics of their rooms were obviously really bad, and I have spent more soundproofing my room than on the sound system itself (a5 and s8, but the A5's are aging out, and the Tuk's are at the top of my list) which i imagine effects how the decay is received.

    • @H4GRlD

@@caspar_gomez Haha, funny enough my previous speakers were the A5+ and these absolutely win. For me there's no contest. I had the A5+ for about 5 years too.
For me everything is just clearer there's so much more resolution to the Treble. Mids and Bass are soooo huge for these size speakers. Some people find them harsh which probly comes down to them not placing them right. When you get these positioned for your listening area the imaging to me seems out of this world. I use them as my desktop speakers with Kanto's own stands. Also with my A5+ i also ended up buying AE's DAC which cost me quite a bit too. With these you definitely don't need the DAC. Not to mention even when i first set these up and started placing them/moving them around on my desk they sounded great right off the top.
I live in Canada so i ended up paying about 1100$, but to me these are 1000% worth it. Not to mention these are sooo fucking beautiful, especially in white.

@@Xeltos thanks for the detailed reply! Really helpful, seems to hard to find normal peoples reviews on this speaker.
That's almost exactly what I wanted to hear. I was a bit worried some people said they were harsh/thin/light on bass. But I'm a long time fan of the ultrasone headphone sound which people call fatiguing and lacking bass too. But one thing I really like about them is that they're super detailed and with very well defined, punchy bass, rather than bloated rumbling bass. Think those had aluminium or titanium drivers so maybe they have the same characteristics.
Sounds like these may be similar which would suit me great. Already have passive bookshelfs but I want these for a computer desk set up and the functionality is very persuading...but because they'll be used for long hours the fatiguing comments make me pause.
Thanks for taking the time, much appreciated.

These definitely do not have bloated or rumbling bass. Very accurate and tight bass/mids and if you have any bass heavy songs these are GODLIKE. WAY more than the A5+ ever had for me.
But yeah these do have aluminum drivers.
Honestly i listen to them pretty much all day and i never find them harsh or fatuguing. I can't ever see myself getting another pair of speakers, that's how much i love the sound signature and again they're also beautiful speakers. haha

I'm just debating if I should wait for black friday, in case other 500-600 speakers get reduced to 400. I have a feeling that the vanatoo won't be on sale since they're price hasn't increased $200 , like so many of the others have in a year or two after your reviews.

You mentioned green and red, then you mentioned blue but I wasn’t sure if you were only referring to the blue light on your PC monitor... I’ve tried to find a video that clearly depicts someone switching though input modes to see what color leds there are. How many stay lit at a time? I’m hoping there are no blue LEDS. I’d prefer red and green over blue. Even white over blue. Any info would be most appreciated...

  • @RyanZNO

After watching this is decided to pull the trigger to find something more compact for my office instead of my LS50s / Sprout 100. These did not fit that bill. They sound good (not even close to LS50 good, but decent), but after about 30 minutes even at a lower-medium volume they were very fatiguing. I had to take the treble down so much they sounded flat, even that was still fatiguing. Maybe my ears just didn’t like the tweeter on this, but they got shipped back today 👎🏻 I think they are overpriced for what they provide sound wise.
