- One of my favorite scenes with the great Peter Falk, from Wim Wenders' "Der Himmel Uber Berlin" (Wings of Desire)
Rest in Peace, Peter.
if you've never seen the whole film, you really are missing out. the Criterion Collection version is fantastic:

This scene literally saved my life, I was just in a bad place mentally emotionally physically and I just didn’t want to be here for the life of me, I clicked on this black and white movie,(they’re my favorite) and man…. The beauty in the little things, this movie changed the way I was looking at things, enjoy the little things, enjoy the people, enjoy life… I really didn’t wanna be here and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t gonna be here but this film was the one that kept me around, I’m not doing any better than before, but I have a different outlook on life, take it slow, enjoy it :) love ya 😊
You summed up one of the biggest reasons why we need art in our lives.
Glad you're still here 😊 Never give up!-- and remember, no one is ever really alone.
God bless and keep you!🕊
I'm glad you're here, to drink coffee, to smoke cigarettes, to make a line, to rub your hands in the cold. Life is the small things, and we need each other compañero
It had a huge effect on me. Saw it in the late 80s, and definitely changed a lot about me. Something that I don't think modern film-makers even think they can aspire to.
So glad you're here!!!!
Saw this movie as a teenager - inspired me to go on a pilgrimage to Berlin, visit the original filming sites, hang out at snack stalls, drinking hot coffee on cold November days...
I did the same ! Compañero !
Peter Falk plays Peter Falk in the most Peter Falk way...❤️
Nailed it!!
“compañero.”
That line. It makes me weep every. Single. Time.
I'm a fan of so many of Peter Falk's movies, but this is my favorite performance of his, hands-down. This scene is so beautiful.
My heart melted when I first saw this scene
All of the major actors in this film have now passed. But i feel that they are all still here.
I can't see you, Peter, but I know you're there
I know it too
As an art diarist/doodler, I always come back to this clip when I need a boost in my creativity. No idea why, but it's invigorating stuff! And I love Peter Falk's visual art too (worth checking out I must say), it's brilliant.
I love how the guy behind the counter keeps looking at Peter Falk like he's nuts XD
I always come back to this scene every now and again
This scene will never get old or fade...
I remember that scene... gave me goosebumps. pretty cool he played himself, too.
RIP PETER FALK
I was there last week, the place looks completely different but the bunker is still there with the same writing on and the remains of anhalter bahnhof, went to the library too, amazing place. I then went to the Sony centre to the film museum and there was a Wim Wenders exhibition on, good holiday!
@d R You won't recognise the area even if you walked right through it! The place I think you're on about is Potsdammer Platz. Where the old man sat in the chair with an overhead railway in the background? The RAF levelled the place, there was one building in the background that is now surrounded by high rise buildings. The building next to the circus was lifted and moved and is in the Sony building about 100 meters from where it was. You can go inside, it's where Nick Cave is playing in the film.
This is one of my favorite scenes of any movie.
This is my film!! I' ve seen It a lot of times!! No angel as Bruno Ganz has touch my soul....
Master piece of all times.
Peter, thank you for nice moments watching your film, it's sad to think i will never know you in person. thank you again.
From Italy.
Great upload. Peter Falk was a great actor and - I'm sure - a great man. Columbo is the best program ever produced for TV, and then there are the earlier "character actor" parts, the John Cassavetes movies, etc... endless hours of pleasure for us, and forever.... R.I.P.
Thanks for posting this
The night he died and the day after I could smell tobacco smoke really bad. I found out that evening that he had died.
R.I.P Peter Falk...One more thing..my cat is named Columbo
Seek psychiatric help.
a masterpiece.
RIP Bruno Gans
Wonderful ... with Bruno Ganz ... and what's left of the Anhalter Bahnhof in the background
Best performance by someone playing himself
I was so taken by this scene - so mesmerized - that I felt compelled to rent this. And it’s a nice picture and all - don’t get me wrong, but I was under the impression that it would be more about this man’s suffering and being saved by this godsend Columbo. I was sort of thinking like what Capra did with Clarence. It was weirdly detached from that, emotionally. Still a nice film, though.
Wunderschöner Film von Wim Wenders. Ganz großartig besetzt mit Peter Falk.
I think Peter Falk brought a common normality,if you will,to any film, esp.this one
Peter Falk performance in this movie is beautiful
thank you Peter Falk. Your work and your name will live forever.
My mom introduced me to this movie! ❤
Thank you for this posting. Wonderful actor and wonderful movie:)
I was in Berlin about 3 months before I saw the film after it first opened - the whole picture I kept getting distracted with internal, "Yeah - was there, there, saw that, remember that, shot a photo of that..." it was like I had accidentally and unknowingly taken a tour of Wenders' list of exteriors.
This is perhaps my favorite scene in this movie. After that is the cameo from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
what a beautiful moment
Stunning. A magic moment.
So many good things!
How to Feel an Angel by Peter♥️😘
Requiescat in Pace Bruno Ganz 🌹🌿
RIP peter falk. u have tasted this mortal life.
they met each other again
Brilliant!
PETER.
So strong and also soft
R.I.P.
"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."
I beleive this is a paraphrased quote by Hunter S Thompson from from Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas via "The Banshee Screams for Buffalo Meat" the obit that Hunter S Thompson wrote for Oscar Zeta Acosta~The Attourney (Dr. Gonzo) that Thompson wrote a few years after his disappearance.
Farewell Peter Falk
@zerozeroisland Peter in this scene was probably a lot like he was in real life: an angel.
do you know what the german sentence behind on the house mean something ? conecting to the movie ? "wer dunker raut wirft bomben"
dekuji❤
how I wish, how I wish hm hm hmmmmmm...
Adélce.. dokončení: Ale ty tu nejsi - jsem tu jen já, přál bych si, abys tu byl, abys ke mě mluvil, protože (já) jsem (tvůj) přítel."
RIP Otto Sander.
@rclaughlin Don't you think he drops it in order to rub his hands together?
Best actor 🇺🇸🇮🇱🇺🇸🇮🇱🇺🇸🇮🇱
tenente Colombo, tenente senza pistola
What was that, why don't you put in the titles that these are clips or trailers? You are rude
Watch the entire movie......
This scene got more people into smoking than Joe Camel ever could
Companero
That scene for me especially transcends he could be Columbo in that scene classic
