Quick lane change VS Ohio trooper!

  • Опубліковано 29 лис 2016
  • Guys this video was back in 2016 and yes I was about a year and half of experience, but the other truck was still at fault. (Like it or not) because camera doesn’t give you a real life distance and on video it appears to be not to close when he made the lane change. And I did not pickup speed when he was passing me because I already went down to 57 mph then went back to 60-63 mph. So everyone needs to chill out and watch the video closely before being an expert.

That was a non issue situation right there. It's clear the other trucker just wanted to pass you. Why make it hard? Let off the throttle and let him go their way. In their defense, im sure the operator was hurrying out the troopers way.
If you get emotional over that, you'll have a rough time as a truck driver because there are a lot of worst drivers out there. Make your job easy for yourself as best as possible. Become aware of what is happening around your vehicle at all times.

It isn't his job to let off the throttle to help him pass. Rule of thumb, "Don't pull out to pass unless you can do it in a timely manner with sufficient speed." 1-2 mph is not enough speed and he shouldn't have pulled out. His little mistake could've caused a major accident not just involving those two trucks.

@@patrickmccrann991 in today's society, it's very important that we become defensive drivers. There's a lot of self entitled people out there who will do what they want regardless of whether you have the right of way. Mr.JjJ, First of all, let me thank you very, very, very, very, very, much for your service. You are, no kidding, what is known as a Real Life Hero.I mean that. After reading my comment I can see how it is confusing. I agree with you 10000%. The pig nut was WRONG and the Volvo was wrong. The trucker was pissed, rightfully so, because he got cut off and would lose his job if he wrecks or lose money. The pig nut was just being a pig nut showing who is boss. Ohio is a HoRRIBLE state, HORRIBLE. Me, a trucker? Listen, never have been. I've been in the transport business over 30 years. "I've been from Tucson to Tucumcarry. Tehatchape to Tonapal. Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made. Driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed." I have aquired a few good friends over the years who are truckers and help me out in lots of ways. I really only did 137,00 last year. That is all by myself. Best way to travel My dog and me. I help you guys on the road as much as I can. You guys help me out a lot. I have a CB I listen but never talk. TA has probably the best breakfast out of the chain truck stops in my opinion. If you ever see a hippy with a dog at a truck stop it could be me. I have a 24' RV Pretty much live in it because of work. So, sorry if I offended you and I hope I clarified myself

So, if I jumped the gun and said it wrong i apologize. I am on the road A LOT just like you and it has gotten HORRIBLE. When did the passing lane become the travel lane? Pig nuts are worse than regular drivers fucking with people and causing dangerous situations. I was calling the guy who cut the truck off all those lovely names not the guy who got cut off

JjJ Thomasson .... When you're driving a vehicle that large, that heavy, you don't want anything to come that close to you. So, yes, he SHOULD be that angry. As far as getting out off the troopers way, I'd say that the trooper was already on his ass, most likely for speeding. So he DID get what he deserved !!!!.... And as far as you driving for 26 years, who are you trying to impress? Truckers who play that card, all think they are a bunch of entitled assholes.

@DJF… I absolutely hate it when it takes a semi an ungodly amount of time to pass another semi but I tend to be disgusted more with the semi being passed for not slowing down a bit to allow the pass to be completed. In this case though it looked like the passing semi was going fast enough to manage the pass reasonably and the officer didn’t have his lights on so I don’t see the need for the semi being passed to slow down in this circumstance. Interchange traffic is always dancing. The pickup with the trailer in front slowed for entering cars and the camera truck didn't react at all to it, closing the gap that the passing truck was going for. I would have slowed a bit to let him have the gap and it's something I've done several times. The alternative is closing it off and forcing the passing truck to keep going for another two miles before something opens up. Trucks routinely merge into the right lane with less than a system's worth of gap after the passed truck signals for the passing truck to merge. I guess everyone has a hill to die on.

He changed lanes too soon. The rear of his trailer hadn't even cleared the truck he was passing. The law requires you to be a specified distance past a vehicle before changing lanes. That was the reason he got so upset. Doesn't matter if there was a trooper behind him, don't rush the lane change. That is the reason the trooper pulled him over.

Wow, overreaction of the century. But, par for the course.
I grew up about 20 minutes away from here, in Girard, PA, and I'm very familiar with this stretch of 90. My sisters and I all went to college in Cleveland, so I have watched this stretch of I-90 change from the 1980s until the mid 2000s when I moved to upstate NY.
I hate to be that guy, but I can't ignore the fact that this part of I-90 is now flooded with inexperienced truck drivers from the Toronto area, and many of them are not originally from North America. It is nothing at all like it used to be. Back in the late 80s and early 90s, this stretch of highway was "friendly" and was known for some really great truck stops, like the Green Shingle in Fairview, PA. We get the worst winter weather on the planet, but the I-90 truckers were a special breed who were particularly skilled and helpful drivers. They were almost like Ice Road Truckers.
Those people are all gone now, and have been replaced with these guys from Canada who might as well be the mafia. It's awful.

When I'm on I-526 and truckers are trying to merge from the Wando Terminal I give'em lots of room. Most drivers do the same. It's no use to lean on the horn. They don't exactly accelerate quickly. Same when they're pulling out from stop signs. In the last several years architects finally realized that curbing around corners here needed to be widely radiused. if not trucks just can't make the turn around the tight corners so they run over the curb and just crush the concrete. Not their fault.

Also why I love my State that it is at a reasonable speed you can pass without reprocussions if then moving over and reducing passing speed up to I think 15mph was precedence thus far aquitted by State judge? I don’t see the problem, isn’t that way everybody does it nowadays? /s
I’ve been a medic & firefighter for 3 & 1/2 decades, and I would happily retire rather than keep being scared by drivers nowadays. They barely leave any room before they pull in front of me, I’m afraid of what my liability is if I climb over their back bumper and turn them into a speedbump because they didn’t leave enough room and Something Happens! 🙀😰7 1/2 tons with hydraulic caliper brakes at highway speed does not stop on a Dime! My ambulance is 24 feet long, 8 feet wide and 10 feet high and people flipped me off for doing the speed limit, I’m nothing but an aggravating obstacle to people- ain’t nothing special about an ambulance lol!

Wonder how many of these people commenting drive a truck for a living? Bet most of them don't! The passing truck made an illegal lane change by being to close to the other truck. Law requires a specified distance before changing lanes again and he didn't have near enough. Got in a hurry and could have caused a major accident.

Agreed. Even though the first driver COULD have backed off to be nice, he has no requirement to do so. If he was speeding up to block the other driver from moving back over I would say he is in the wrong. But if someone is going to pass, they need to make sure they have the space, time, speed and a good reason to do so safely without cutting anyone off.

People may think that he did not cut the first driver off. But if he had cut over then had to hit the brakes because of an animal or something was there, the first driver would not be able to react in time.

I think you overreacted. I'm sure you've shortcut a lane change before yourself at anxious times. We all have. Give the guy a break he had a trooper on his ass and got a little anxious

Lucky it wasn't a JB Hunt driver you'd be replacing your front fender.

If I'm driving on the speed limit and someone starts overtaking me I slow down a little, not braking, just accelerator, so they don't have to speed to do it.
I'm not driving a big truck though; would that use too much fuel?

Yeah, cause you're human. Uploader is not only incompetent but also ignorant to their own negligence here, let alone cost of a colleague to the bears. pos
