I much preferred the 1994 theming of Tomorrowland as an alien city of the future. It was timeless and I think they could've added and improved to it instead of abandoning it for the mishmash of aesthetics it is today.
I have a video of my father recording this ride back in March of 1998 as part of our family vacation (other visits included Epcot, the NASA Space Center, and the Lowry Park Zoo). That's to show how old this narration really is. Much nostalgia right there.
As much as i like the new narration, i must be honest, i enjoyed this one better, it made the theme of tomorrowland a lot much better, yes it's outdated i admit but i really enjoyed this old narration. I also miss that star tunnel music in the space mountain part of the ride
I like to sit on there, prop my feet up on the seat across from me and take a few laps to take a break and enjoy a nice breeze. They'll let you stay on for consecutive rides if they aren't jam packed. I do like the old narration better as well.
Thank you so very much for shooting & making this video. I have never been to Disney World, only Disney 'land'. This night version is (in my opinion) better than the daytime versions. It's also very cool to see that the 'model city' from the original 'Carousel of Progress' is still viewable to the public! I am an 'old Disneyland' fan, so I really appreciate this. [:-)]
Not to mention also played Master Splinter in the 87 Turtles, Henry in Country Bear Jamboree, Mandrake the Magician in "Defenders of the Earth" prior to TMNT, and has been performing on local stage shows for more than 40 years, ranging from comedy, drama, and musicals. :) Quite the talent all rolled up in that voice.
i don't remember the old narration at all even though i've been to disney world in 2005, 2008 and 2010 which was when it had this narration according to this video's upload year
Was it really important to remove the narrator that so many people had memory of. What benefit did they get by changing it. All it did was take that child like feeling away and make it bland.
Yeah, the new narration is way too sterile and doesn't provide any sense of immersion. The old audio had a lot more charm and really sold tomorrowland as its own world, not just another part of a theme park.
Why are the lights out? What year was this filmed? This obviously happened beyond 2002, since the attraction Stitch's Great Escape is there, but what was the exact year?
As much as I still love the TTA, I REALLY miss this narration. To me this narration will always define the TTA
i agree with you about the narration defines the tomorrowland transit authority because it sounds futuristic but i like the current narration more
I don't get why they changed it, this sounds more like a story-teller than the new ones
The new narration sucks it’s ruined the TTA
They recently changed the narration with some callbacks, and bringing back the old 94 chime

I think of all the Tommorrowlands, this one is the best theme and could have just been updated like u said and that is all that was needed.

This is so calming to me. The combo of the vivid color, the track noises, narration, background sounds. All of it is just super soothing.
Without the background chatter. It takes away from it.

Love how the fog/mist gives Space Mountain and especially Cinderella Castle that "aura" around it!

The colors were great, I wonder why they changed them!
Probably some sort of cost savings, that is the only way I could see them arguing for taking away a nice theme.
