I was at Om Beach in 2013 for a month and again in 2014 for two weeks. Really miss that place. I made a few good friends there, and so many great memories. Cheers for the trip down memory lane.
love how you enjoy everything from views to speaking to the locals, the heat, the water, food and everything else without getting judgemental. appreciate your knowledge about Hindu gods :)
Ruchita Mishra: So true, foreign tourists who can truly enjoy visiting India are the ones who can be non judgemental, just be in the moment, appreciate small little things, be open free & open with the locals, and they feel right at home. Gabe is India your most visited nation(perhaps beside Canada as your a dual citizen)?
Awesome video! Just saw this while searching on here for Om beach, to see how it has changed after all these years. This comment is not a vain attempt to boast, just an accident of birth. I'm in my mid 50's now and back in early '89 I arrived in Gokarna to visit the Mahabaleshwar Temple, the (Kasi of the south) which was the only temple in India that allowed foreigners who weren't Hindu into see and touch the Atmalinga. We arrived well before Shivaratri and originally slept on the main Gokarna beach. We heard about these great beaches to the south and especially Om beach from a local Brahmin priest. When we arrived on Om beach there was just 1 family living in the forest behind the beach, we asked them for some pani, they told us, there was fresh water at the southern end of the beach as you start to ascend the rocks...We found it but the water was just trickling down the soil, so we opened the hole up bigger and inserted a half sliced bamboo stick into it so we could drink cleaner. We dug into the soil behind the water to make two steps, inserted some bamboo poles and palm leaf roof to fend off the sun. We made a small cooking area and a clay oven. we would fetch food from Gokarna and locals would give us bananas & coconuts. It was such an incredible view and a strong spiritual energy, we decided to stay. It ended up being for 3 months. I've been told this place is now a cafe..Thanks for sharing your video, it brought back so many wonderful experiences of my time there...ॐ नमः शिवाय Om Namaḥ Śivāya.
Hi Gabriel, been watching your videos for a while but had no idea you'd made one on my favourite place in the world...until now. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks. I have a bunch of videos of Gokarna, one of my favorite places as well: ua-cam.com/users/gabejedmosearch?query=Gokarna I've been there a few different times.
Really stunning scenery and what a nice hike! Good to see a hiking video again. I literally LOL'd at you trying to push the bull. That was really funny. 😂 What awesome looking beaches! I had no idea these kinds of amazing beaches exist in India. 👍🏼✌🏼
Nitish Sounds like an amazing, magical, and incredible country! I've watched a lot of videos and films of India -- but it's all two dimensional and visual only. Someday I'll get the full 360 with all senses!
You can take a boat ride from Half-moon beach back to Kudle beach and save yourself the trouble of hiking back. (The views along the boat ride are a bonus! )
we have been watching on the big screen and really wish you would state who the music is by on your vlogs you are really good at capturing all aspects of your travels!
Yep, the music is always in the info section, often including links to where you can download the song. You just have to scroll down a little ways. If there isn't a link to the song then it's likely I got it from the youtube music library.
Cool, glad to hear it. I knew India would make for some of the best content on this trip, especially being back here with the better cameras. It's going to get even more interesting after I leave Gokarna and the beach scene.
So Epic Gabe. These two vids makes me want to just jump on a plane and go straight to Gokarna. You said you were there in 1999, and I'm betting there hasn't been a lot of big changes...? Finally, a place that has stayed pretty much the same for years. Why do you think that is? I have been really bummed that so many pristine places have become so commercialize to appease tourist. Beautiful, beautiful place Thanks for posting these videos, I only wish they were longer :) The people are so calm and seemingly uninterested in you - a visitor. So cool...
Thanks. Yes the town has hardly changed at all since I went there the first time. In my book "Following my thumb" I wrote about Gokarna because I went there to find the rainbow gathering. I mentioned that some people called to me from a restaurant and asked me if I was looking for it and gave me directions. That was one of those little restaurants that I went to in the recent "How to travel India super cheap" video. I don't think there are even any new restaurants there, the same ones, amazing. The beaches have changed however, there are more restaurants and guesthouses out there, but it's not too crazy at least. I think it's just because everyone goes to Goa and it hasn't gotten too overcrowded there yet because there are so many beach spots. And Gokarna is out of the way relatively so not as many people make it down there.
Great video! I loved the cow on the beach while people were playing volleyball and you didn't even mention it. That was so funny! It's so crazy to think that cows would just be hanging out on the beach if people didn't put them into farms. Such a trip.
I think mostly those are local fishermen's boats but you can definitely rent some as well. Probably it would be a matter of a boatmen taking you somewhere, I doubt they would just rent one of those boats to people to navigate by themselves. But in Goa you could rent kayaks by yourself.
there is place named karwar midway of goa and gorkarna where you can rent boats and this boats will take you to island in middle which has a beautiful resorts and views, its really near to gokarna.
One more great video by Gabriel Traveler! I cannot comprehend why anybody would "Thumbs Down" this video? What were they expecting? Nude bodies on the beach?
Thank you for showing my Karnataka state. I am far away from my state. Thanks for showing that beautiful state and I felt really nostalgic seeing your video
I slept on that beach with some friends back in 97` We had to make a sand wall as the tide was very close which was both scary and fun! Six of us huddled around a small fire with just a couple of blankets and a cool onshore breeze. One of the happiest nights of my life, especially the part at about 4am when the tide was in, lots of panic, laughter and hasty wall rebuilding but we saved the fire and the blankets! A perfect night in so many ways.
Hey Gabriel, love the videos! Just wondering if you have had any issues with street dogs in India? Last time I was there (and a few other Asian countries) I have had trouble with them getting nasty (especially trying to go for a run)
I've never been attacked by one or anything, but have certainly had some encounters where they got snarly and I was worried they might do something. Mostly the're really nice and don't cause problems but there are a few bad apples.
Can you get 4G, or even 3G at Kudle? I know you said WiFi was out of the question in most parts except for some Internet cafes in town, but how about phone data?
I only got 2g at the beach that was basically useless. In town it went back and forth between 2g and 4g (and sometimes no service), but even the 4g was pretty slow.
That's a shame. I have a drop-shipping business as a means of keeping the backpack on, so internet access is important. I'll just have to go to town 2-3 times a day. Great vid BTW :)
The internet situation is pretty bad there as well. Very very slow and only in a few internet cafes. It'll work for basic stuff okay but not good for anything requiring speed.
such beautiful views of the beaches! love it! I'm surprised how those walmart sandals get u everywhere because i do shop walmarts but the shoes always tend to wear out very fast. i'm glad the bull didnt attack u. i still want to see more videos! lol
Yeah those sandals have been amazing for 10 bucks, had them almost two years now. They are kind of coming apart but can't blame them for what I've put them through.
i lived in india from 1993-2002 and used to go to om beach every year. the beaches were almost always empty... i started checking youtube just now for videos cause i am going back for a visit in two weeks... i am afraid that it wont be the way it was 21 years ago😢
It's so incredibly alluring. how difficult is the hike? i tried to figure out your timing by the sun, but it was a bit difficult as you did stop to enjoy your surroundings and eat. You swam in Gokarna right? i was disappointed in the water but everything pales to Greece right? which I'm always comparing everything to, that and the Caribbean. The water at Goksrna and Om etc looked beautiful from afar but when you went in....nah. why were there no other ppl in the water (or so few...i didn't see any others in your video) since it was so hot? Locals don't go in that water?
water at tjose places are really cean because it joins to arabian sea and to Indian Ocean. its a place which no much people go and locals are too lazy to get into water.
I've been to that area before, around Madikeri and the Tibetan refugee camps, etc. but didn't make it to Coorg itself, maybe another time. I'm now back home in the United States.
Now that things are more lax between the US and Cuba you should try and make your way over there at one point. The beach made me think of it. I spent a week in Veradero, Havana and Matanzas last year and its hard to find a nicer people as well as bluer waters on white sand beaches. The food lacks a little but Churros in Havana are great. I know this comment is a little random but just went through my head lol.
yepp, It is extremely cheap at the moment. 4.5 star all inclusives will run you just under 1k for a week. so just imagine if your willing to stay in a Casa how cheap it can be!
Gabriel love you're videos. inspiring. India is definitely my bucket list travel destination..Out of curiosity I would prefer to travel on a budget like you do. My fear is that I am horribly afraid of spiders. Do you run into a lot of spiders in India in your budget rooms? Are any where in the tropics?
Well, currently there is a pretty big daddy long legs in my bathroom attached to the ceiling. I've been here five days and haven't bothered him, since I don't mind those kinds of spiders. But anything potentially poisonous I would get rid of one way or another. I don't see lots of spiders and you don't see any particularly scary-looking ones. But you most definitely will see spiders sometimes while traveling, especially in Asia and the tropics.
Ben Lorenowicz - spend some money on accommodation and you won't find any. To get great deals on Hotel bookings in India always use Apps like Goibibo or MakemyTrip.
Yeah Gokarna is really nice, one of the best places of India. Really like the village too, though there isn't much to do and the wi-fi is terrible, I couldn't get videos uploaded there. Hopefully you get the chance to go there another time. :) (I'd make some cool symbols but I don't know how to do that on youtube.)
I liked Om Beach more than those of Goa (water, sand colour, sunlight, general landscape) loved the bull gap (who seems to like volleyball too) epic hiking. by the way, this looks like shot on a thursday. news has it a bag with 2 million USD was caught trying to reach Sri Lanka from Dabolim (just kidding) God bless honesty.
A nice piece of video. Though I am in Karnataka, I haven't visited Gokarna so far. Gabriel's video of Gokarna tempts me to visit the town soon. Thanks Mr Gabriel.
i almost went there after being told by a irishman i met at pushkar camel faire.went to hampi instead. i heard and read that one trail to the beach was known for strong arm bandits targeting tourists. that was 2011 maybe they got ran off.kind of a off the beaten path hippy type place. i heard its good.. just watched video. damn i should of went here. soooo many places to go in india. i love india every place eles is boring
Love your vids. I would like you to describe the smells around you more. When you at the 'lake' in Gokarna the other day, I was just thinking 'how bad does it smell there'. Sometimes smells bring me back to places I've traveled. They are a big part of travel. Cheers.
The lake didn't smell bad. However, walking to the place where I started this hike you go past another standing body of water that has one of the worst smells imaginable. India definitely has all extremes in the smell department, from the amazing food and incense to disgusting stuff that makes your stomach turn.
Hey Gabriel, just found your videos and they are amazing man! Yesterday, I saw your travel vlog from Mapusa to Palolem by local bus. I was enjoying and I must applaud your patience man. Last year I had to drive a bike from Mapusa to Palolem and I was nearly collapsed. Btw man, at 14:25, I found Gokarna beach as very similar to the Palolem beach, did you feel that way too ? Also, you know many things like name of gods in Hindu culture, I was pleasantly amazed by that too. Kudos, keep travelling.
Hi there, glad you're enjoying the vids! Yeah that was Kudle beach, definitely kind of similar to Palolem in a way, but a different crowd, more of the budget backpacker type and a little less crowded. But both are really nice spots.
Gokarna and the surrounding area looks epic man. I will put it on my list for next time for sure. Some of those views look out of this world.
I was at Om Beach in 2013 for a month and again in 2014 for two weeks. Really miss that place. I made a few good friends there, and so many great memories. Cheers for the trip down memory lane.
I miss it too. I haven't been back since I made this video. I was in Goa a year ago but it's not the same.
I went in 2003. Very happy week playing chess on the beach
It must be so cool and relaxing to see the cows as pets
gosh i miss India especially Gokarna and Hampi so much. Thank you for sharing Gabe 😁🤙🤙🤙
love how you enjoy everything from views to speaking to the locals, the heat, the water, food and everything else without getting judgemental. appreciate your knowledge about Hindu gods :)

This is the right way to enjoy the trip!
Very true. I have seen people judging everything they see.. not foreigners, but Indians.. "omg look at that, he is breathing so deep"
Vintage India - always somebody loitering around ready to hustle - even in the middle of nowhere....:-)........love it.......
Awesome video! Just saw this while searching on here for Om beach, to see how it has changed after all these years. This comment is not a vain attempt to boast, just an accident of birth. What a sight...volleyball on the beach with a cow just chilling there!....:-)
I know, classic India.
I m traveling to Gokarna on day aftr tomorrow....i believe ur video gonna help me alot as I m also doing a budget trip...
Just wanted to let you know that, no matter what anybody can say, you are a filmmaker in the fullest sense of the word. Keep it up
Thanks a lot, appreciate it.
Amazing vlog! Breathtaking views. Greetings from Plano, Texas, United States.
I wholeheartedly agree. Are you a Havyaka by any chance?
Really stunning scenery and what a nice hike! Good to see a hiking video again. I literally LOL'd at you trying to push the bull. That was really funny. 😂 What awesome looking beaches! I had no idea these kinds of amazing beaches exist in India. 👍🏼✌🏼

I'm an Indian,i live in India, I travel in India, but i love to see your videos in India. the way you shoot and describe and travel is just super!
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.
Gabriel Traveler @ bro is it safe for night tenting @gokarna
You can take a boat ride from Half-moon beach back to Kudle beach and save yourself the trouble of hiking back. (The views along the boat ride are a bonus! )
I'm the guy doing Yoga at 5:25 of the video on Kudle.....I am presently staying in Gokarna, been coming here every year for 10 years or so.
No way man, very cool. I love Gokarna. I've been there a few times as well. I was back in India again just recently, but I went to the north.
Yea I watched you walk up the Pahar Ganj Main Bazaar to the New Delhi train station
Stalker 😁
this is awesome place and that was a great job :)
thank you Gabriel.
What an amazing video.. So beautiful!
Great, thanks.
we have been watching on the big screen and really wish you would state who the music is by on your vlogs you are really good at capturing all aspects of your travels!
Russell Ralston Check the video description. The names of the tunes & links are there.
Yep, the music is always in the info section, often including links to where you can download the song. You just have to scroll down a little ways. If there isn't a link to the song then it's likely I got it from the youtube music library.
have u bn to hampi ...if so is it AMZing??! CHEERS
Yes, I've been to Hampi a few times, I actually went there next after Gokarna:
ua-cam.com/users/gabejedmosearch?query=Hampi
nice music in the video.. ever tried. Ott Sonic, Bluetech, Hol Baumann, Cell, Carbon Based Life Forms, Aes Dana.. Great chill music.
Wonderful surrounding worth visiting .once
Iv'e been to Gokarna twice, a couple of years apart and there has been a bag in that Temple, same place
loving the quality and frequency of the videos of late
Cool, glad to hear it. I knew India would make for some of the best content on this trip, especially being back here with the better cameras. It's going to get even more interesting after I leave Gokarna and the beach scene.
india, i get the impression, is the most fascinating and diverse country on earth. Is it still dirt cheap once you get off the tourist trail?
Yes, my next video will be up pretty soon in which I show prices in Gokarna, and it's a lot cheaper than Goa.
Good filmed, I walked this way so often....
Yes! That's the stuff!
So Epic Gabe. These two vids makes me want to just jump on a plane and go straight to Gokarna. You said you were there in 1999, and I'm betting there hasn't been a lot of big changes...? wow! what a beautiful place! really like your travel videos, its real and authentic...its like being there with you! lol
Great video!! You´re awesome man!! When will you come to visit Brazil?
Hello from Milan, ITALY
Great video! I loved the cow on the beach while people were playing volleyball and you didn't even mention it. That was so funny! It's so crazy to think that cows would just be hanging out on the beach if people didn't put them into farms. Such a trip.
I know, that was a classic India moment.
Literal meaning of place 'Gokarna' is cow's ear.
This series of videos in india is my favorite! Cant wait for your next trip..Where are u going next??
Can one rent a boat or are they for locals to fish? Any other activities there and what are some prices, if you know?
I think mostly those are local fishermen's boats but you can definitely rent some as well. Probably it would be a matter of a boatmen taking you somewhere, I doubt they would just rent one of those boats to people to navigate by themselves. But in Goa you could rent kayaks by yourself.
there is place named karwar midway of goa and gorkarna where you can rent boats and this boats will take you to island in middle which has a beautiful resorts and views, its really near to gokarna.
It's so clean!!!!I wana visit.

Thank you for showing my Karnataka state. I am far away from my state. Thanks for showing that beautiful state and I felt really nostalgic seeing your video
Gabriel you are awesome man
The indian government should make you the brand ambassador for their Incredible India campaign ! :D
beautufull . Great !!1
An unattended bag like that in NYC would shut down a part of the city and make the news, lol.
One shut down part of the airport in Paris when I flew to India, I got stuck waiting for an extra hour before I could check in.
it would be stolen long before that
I guess it's month of may-april as waters are merky.Best waters are around Nov-Feb blue
Looks more like a handover spot rather than a hiding place...
Awesome.
I liked your video of gokarna. tell me a thing , which spot had you been in gokarna.tell me name of spot where you had been. Please Sir.
I forget the name of the hotel where I stayed, but in this video I went to Kudle Beach and Om Beach.
David Kaff - the internet In India is decent only in cities not in small towns
You have been to Chennai ?
which camera do you use buddy ?
Thanks, keep on travelling :)
Hi Vishal, camera info is always in the description below the video.
Thank you so much buddy. :)
such beautiful views of the beaches!
Gabriel Traveler your sandals look similar to Keen Newport sandals that cost about $100 each.
When you were going for a walk, in this video, a man was standing near the autorickshaw. What was the man asking you for? Please tell me.
He asked if I had change for a large bill, because he didn't have proper change for his customer.
i lived in india from 1993-2002 and used to go to om beach every year. the beaches were almost always empty... i started checking youtube just now for videos cause i am going back for a visit in two weeks... i am afraid that it wont be the way it was 21 years ago😢
Hey congrats on another great video. I was curious what the man asked you at the start of your hike. Was he asking you for money?
David Smith: he was checking if gabe has change (to break a larger note) to pay the rickshaw(tuk tuk) deriver! Gabe replies he only the larger ₹100's
Exactly, he wanted change.
Where do you keep your stuff like bag, footwear, clothes, etc when you go in water ?
It depends on the situation, but here's a video on that: ua-cam.com/video/R0Al1epNziw/v-deo.html
It's so incredibly alluring. how difficult is the hike? i tried to figure out your timing by the sun, but it was a bit difficult as you did stop to enjoy your surroundings and eat. water at tjose places are really cean because it joins to arabian sea and to Indian Ocean. its a place which no much people go and locals are too lazy to get into water.
PRATHEEKSHA shetty not lazy but busy !!
Any clue whose bag was it?!
Nope, never found out.
Nice video brother Gabriel :)
Those who disliked the video wanted to see what's in the bag..
Ha ha, maybe so.
Next time welcome to Coorg. you should explore that part of nature
I know this comment is a little random but just went through my head lol.
Yeah Cuba sounds cool and better to get there soon before the U.S. tourist invasion hits.
yepp, It is extremely cheap at the moment. 4.5 star all inclusives will run you just under 1k for a week. so just imagine if your willing to stay in a Casa how cheap it can be!
hey have u been to andaman and necobar islands ?
Yes, I went to the Andaman islands in 2006, very cool.
Gabriel Traveler can u share Pictures & Vedios?
I've done that walk many times its not as difficult as he makes it sounds.
I didn't realize I made it sound difficult. But yeah it's an awesome hike, especially the part with the cliffs after Om beach.

Ben Lorenowicz genrally hotel workers keeps the room clean but if not so than you can complain them...they would cleqn that....
How long it takes to walk from om beach to Paradise beach?
I forget exactly, but I think about 20-30 minutes.
gabriel are you coming to amritsar this time?
Not on this trip, I'll just be in south India.
Gosh... I missed this trip with my friends n now I regret 😣... Awesome video Gabe 😍😘❤❤❤
- Loved the cow part lol 10:13
once I visited there
amazing vedio, only one for yesterday & today?
Yes, I'm editing the next one right now but between editing, processing and uploading it won't be posted until tomorrow morning (India time).
How much time does it take to walk till om beach from gokarna
About thirty minutes.
Nice 👍🏽
Where did you go before coming to gokarna ?
I took the bus from Palolem in Goa to Gokarna: ua-cam.com/video/4weq8u46gVo/v-deo.html
Have ever been to Kochi town ?
No, I haven't been to Kerala yet.
Woow nice place
I have to ask you. Exactly which are you the country ?
I'm from the United States.
how much time does the total hike take round trip???
It depends on how far you go, to Kudle beach, Om beach or Paradise beach. But to hike from Gokarna to Om beach I'd say takes around an hour one-way.

A nice piece of video. Though I am in Karnataka, I haven't visited Gokarna so far. Gabriel's video of Gokarna tempts me to visit the town soon. Thanks Mr Gabriel.
Amazing !!

I'm not in Gokarna now, I've moved on to Hampi.
i almost went there after being told by a irishman i met at pushkar camel faire.went to hampi instead.
i heard and read that one trail to the beach was known for strong arm bandits targeting tourists. that was 2011 maybe they got ran off.kind of a off the beaten path hippy type place. i heard its good..

Hello my friend gabriel how are you?
Video hit the spot, perfect music, nice work on editing! have to go to Gokarna -never been there despite being in Karnataka!!
Awesome
I love this place plan to go there in future v lovely video
Hey Gabe, your videos are awesome and it's so nice they way you respond to the comments
Suggest me any cheap hostels or huts to stay in gokarna (300)budget per night ?
Love your vids. I would like you to describe the smells around you more. When you at the 'lake' in Gokarna the other day, I was just thinking 'how bad does it smell there'. Sometimes smells bring me back to places I've traveled. They are a big part of travel.
Cheers.
The lake didn't smell bad. However, walking to the place where I started this hike you go past another standing body of water that has one of the worst smells imaginable. India definitely has all extremes in the smell department, from the amazing food and incense to disgusting stuff that makes your stomach turn.
Which place in India u liked the most and why??
Beautiful compilation !
Cool vids...
cool
Wow such an amazing place
I like this video very much because I traveled same way 😊
Hey Gabriel, just found your videos and they are amazing man!
But both are really nice spots.
good BRO
U can speak kannada??
10:37 Thank that Bull, you survived.. :p :p. Amazing video Po.
