About Yellowcard:
With A Hopeful Sign, Hammock took some of Yellowcard's best loved songs like "Southern Air", "Only One", "Telescope", and, of course, their signature track "Ocean Avenue" and re-imagined them in a cinematic realm, giving them more atmosphere, more space, and a whole new feeling.
These are not remixes... rather, Ryan Key re-recorded both the piano and the vocals (in his home studio) in a softer more ambient style and then Hammock took those recordings and changed the chord progressions underneath the melodies so the songs feel completely new both in style and sound, which makes them very unique and a true collaboration. Ryan didn't go into a studio with Hammock for any of this, it was done remotely - Hammock did their part in their own studio. A Hopeful Sign dives deep into the essence of what made the original songs memorable and twists them into new and fascinating shapes.

Glad I came across this interview, I’m a big fan of Ryan and Yellowcard. Loved a good chunk of his solo music. Great interview!! Really agreed with his sentiments towards the end about people having shorter attention spans and not appreciating a song building, it’s art and needs to be appreciated in its entirety.
Hope you get to interview him again or some of the other band mates!
This was a really good interview. Curious about what they have scheduled in 2025
