  • I traded in the Honda Goldwing for a 2022 Indian Challenger. This week we go on a ride through central Arkansas to ride the Pig Trail and get a few aftermarket accessories on the Indian Challenger.

The thing I like about watching your videos is that listening to you it’s like listening to your favorite uncle talk about riding a motorcycle. You just bring so much warmth and love to some of your videos it’s just really nice. Also watching the scenery on this video, I was reminded of driving on parkways in Connecticut to and from New York and the places where I lived in Connecticut. Thank you

Kevin, I've enjoyed your MCrider series tremendously, and it's been very helpful. I've been riding cycles on and off for 70 years. This January, I traded my Sportster Roadster for a Sportster S. The Sportster S is the greatest motorcycle I've ever owned. Every day it tries to rip my fingers off of the handlebars and leave me sitting space, while it blasts up the road with its savage acceleration. For older riders concerned about how long they can ride; let me introduce myself: I'm Jim Meeks from Minnesota, and i'm 84 years old, and if I remain healthy, I'm going to ride until I can't. Thanks again for your advice.

Kevin, you’re sharing trade secrets for some of the best “unknown roads” in the country! Northwest and Central Arkansas has some of the best roads in the country. I’ve ridden quite a bit over east of here and they are indeed a gem. Come back for the Bikes, Blues, and BBQ in October (5-8 Oct) this year. Cooler temps and lots of others out enjoying the beautiful Arkansas countryside. We’ve had triple digits temperatures for several days like most of the country and man, if you don’t ride early, it gets down right dangerous. Congratulations on the new ride. They are a sweet looking motorcycle. Glad you liked the area and hope to see you in October.

I traded my 2018 BMWR1200RT for a 2022 Indian Challenger and could not be happier. While the BMW had more features and was more nimble at slow speeds the seating position is more jockey like and with the big jugs up front of your shins you don't get room to stretch your legs. The Challenger has a flying down the road in a comfortable armchair feeling and is equipped with big floorboards. It's big, comfortable and fun as hell to ride and that engine is a beast in stock form. It has it's flaws such as easy to scratch paint especially where the tank meets the seat and that ugly as hell exposed bolt head on the tank cover. Both problems easy to solve with clear protective cover for the paint and making a magnetic cover for the ugly hole. I'm 64 years old and been riding for 50 years, this is by far the most fun ride I've ever owed. Congrats on your new ride!

I LOVE Eureka Springs! I take a motorcycle trip up there first weekend of June every year to meet up with a bunch of other guys from a forum I'm on. Great roads, everyone that's skilled enough has got to take AR 23 from I-40 all the way to Eureka Springs (though the scenic pig trail section is the best, the whole rest of 23 isn't bad either). So many good twisties there.

I could never imagine trading my Goldwing for any other "touring" motorcycle, so selling a Goldwing to get an Indian is quite a shock. I've ridden both the Challenger and the Roadmaster and no question they are fine motorcycles but they are no match for the Goldwing when it comes to smoothness. Here in Australia we have very few Indian dealers so if you breakdown and you are outside a major city then you are out of luck. Your bike will have to be towed hundreds of miles. Where as Honda dealers are everywhere. As always it's not what you ride as long as you ride. Enjoy the bike.

My wife and myself have visited Eureka Springs a few years ago in the summer after visiting the HD plant in KS (before it was closed) anyway... while coming into Eureka my GPS had me ride up a goat hill that had a stop sign which is usually no problem for me (I'm riding a 2010 HD Limited, my wife was riding a GW trike) and at the stop I was using the brakes (front & back) the clutch but I found myself sliding backwards due to the road was hot/slick and no grip for the tires..... all I could do was go forward and hope for the best and I was able to survive. Really interesting and engaging clip Kevin. Like yourself I came across to Indian from many many years of Harleys mostly baggers in latter years. I'm surprised you went with a Challenger. Congratulations first of all. I've had mine for a year and have had very little trouble with it except now the battery is failing. I blame this on it having been let go to flat before I bought it. The Challenger preforms well above a few miles an hour. I find it to be a bear at low speeds. I try to avoid a lot of traffic and start, stop situations. There are a few flashes that will "deal" with the low speed throttle issues. They come with there own gremlins. I have not had any flashes done and ride the bike how it likes to be ridden rather than make it to be like something else. The point is easily argued. It should be "right", I've heard of drops because of the throttle, etc.
I really love my Challenger and have ridden it from NH to Key West and back, it performed incredibly well and returned 43 mpg overall with riding speeds up to and sustained at 80 to 85mph. No flash, no air intake, or muffler "upgrades" stock. I bought it to perform stock out of the box, and it does. Again, congratulations on your new bike.

I traded my 2021 Goldwing Tour DCT on a 2022 Indian Pursuit Ltd w/premium package. The standard touring seat on the Pursuit Premium is much more comfortable then the stock Challenger seat. I also added the reduced reach bars and it makes a world of difference in comfort as well. For pure smoothness, nothing beats the Goldwing but there was always something missing. Just too refined for my taste at this point. The V-Twin gives you that little bit of feel and rumble that just seems right. I have close to 4,000 miles on my Indian Pursuit (Challenger touring model) and am so happy with the bike. I also just found out about a aftermarket bluetooth add-on device that will allow me to run Android auto on the ride command screen. The Challenger/Pursuit already has Apple Car play but did not have AA yet so this was a pleasant surprise. Thanks for the great video and fantastic scenery and enjoy your new Challenger !

I am about to turn mine into a Pursuit. 😉
I ordered an Indian trunk and hard lowers yesterday. Can’t wait to get it all on there, will make a great bike even better.

YES! I knew I loved you. I love my 2021 Challenger Limited. Coming from Honda and Yamaha V Stars this is the best bike I've ever owned. How do you like the turning radius? I know it has a longer wheel base so uturns are not going to be as tight. Can you do a video or talk about the low speed maneuvering on a Challenge?

    Nice...
Just a suggestion... What about an MC Rider meetup in the Eureka Springs area...
I have inlaws in the area (Springdale) but it's about an 11 hour trip for me (700 miles).

Beautiful motorcycle. I have always loved Indians but I ride what I can afford. 2010 Honda Interstate. I am Arkansas born and reared and will be moving back there shortly. Look forward to the Pig Trail as well. Great video as usual. Thanks!

Can you talk about the heat coming off the radiator is it bad or tolerable and how does it compare to a road glide?

I have a 21 roadglide limited. Looked at the challenger but it is a one up bike. The pursuit would be more my style. The way inventory is right now good luck getting any of them. Note: closest indian dealer is over 100 miles away.
