Are big frogs afraid of small grass snakes?

It seems that most large frogs are afraid of small grass snakes, even if they are far too large to be eaten. Maybe it's an instinctive fear of their mortal enemy if it's bigger. Die Frösche hätten allerdings gar nicht aufpassen oder fliehen müssen, weil ihnen von so kleinen Ringelnattern gar keine Gefahr droht.

Maybe the frog was hunting the tadpole as well. Could be the frog said, "I've had enough. I'm outta here!" to the snake. Meaning, that it doesn't want to be hunted even if the snake is too small.

Frogs also hunt tadpoles. But they can only catch them if they come to the surface.

Very seminal observations! Probably that panic fear of snakes which so many people demonstrate has been inherited from as remote ancestors as amphibians.

As far as I know, we are more descended from reptiles than from amphibians. So we are more closely related to snakes than to frogs.
