What Is The Difference Between : Canister Case And Grapeshot
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- What is the difference between American Civil War canister shot, case shot, and grapeshot that was fired out of a cannon? Well, watch this video to learn a little about it. I made this video to help explain some of the artifacts that Mike and I uncovered recently in a Civil War battlefield area. I thought some further explanations might be helpful for when you watch the videos coming up soon.

I hope you enjoy this Chigg Chat and let me know in the video comments if you'd like to see more of these types of videos and on what topics. Thanks for watching.
Always
@@slimwantedman6694 I second that.
Yup. I always need to be and enjoy being educated. Class in session.
Let's get a video on the different types of bullets used during the Civil War, or even types of muskets!
Awesome video chigg! I have finds room envy!
A tour and talk about your collection behind you would be a great video!
agree!
Omg. Everytime you make a video in this room (I've been watching you forever) we always ask for a tour of this room. It's so impressive
Don’t take this the wrong way but this is by far your best video. They don’t teach the stuff in school and to read about it on Wikipedia or some garbage isn’t the same I’m a hand or eye type learning person and to actually see them in person on video makes all the difference in the world so thank you very much for your explanations and showing of the materials kind of makes me glad I wasn’t around during Civil War. That had to be absolutely brutal. Thanks for sharing. See you on the next one.👍🏼👊🏼
Happy to hear you enjoyed the video.
@@aquachigger when I first started watching you channel it took quite a few videos to start learning the jargon and types of bullets you’d find so this will definitely help with the upcoming ones I wouldn’t mind a video on bullet types and rarity of the civil war if you get time I know your busy.
Thanks, teacher Beau for the refresher class.
Chigg that room is impressive 😮
I probably forgot more than I have remebered from the years of watching you. But what I do remember I value and appreciate very much Beau. Including also things of nature and what not.
Wow. I'm going to have to watch it several times to even begin to absorb all the information you're sharing. I would enjoy learning more about the accuracy of the different types of cannons and their projectiles. Also, I wasn't aware of the purpose and importance of rifling until your videos. Always something for me to learn. Great job! Thanks, Beau.
The cutaways are cool to see the innerworkings. Thx for sharing.
Good afternoon evening from England thanks for sharing your knowledge of this type of weaponry shots used in the cannons on the battlefield I have used weapons but I didn't realise that there is so many different types, but another subject what would be great to talk about is mini balls and sharps bullets as you know in England they also used different cannon ball shot like a lead bar with a ball each end this also was ideal for taking sailing ship mast's out and the wrigging, thanks for sharing your interesting video take care looking forward to next video
Great lesson, well taught. I have a piece of canister shot and a mini ball I found when I worked in Burkittsville, MD at the vineyard on Mt. Church Road. History lives within you and AHD!!! Thanks and new subscriber! ✌👌
Fascinating Mr. Chigg. Thank you and much respect.
Thanks for the video. It was very interesting!
Thank you very much. I’ll share this with my Grandsons. Bought them detectors. Trying to get them over here to try them out.
That's beautiful your artefacts on the shelves behind you !
I’m sure others would agree with me that we would enjoy you making more informative videos like this in the future. You have a lot of knowledge on Civil War stuff. Mike seems to really know his stuff too when you guys are pulling up treasures in the river and stuff.
WOAH! Beau, you have a HUGE collection. So cool to let us into the man cave.
Thanks Chig very interesting and always great to watch your videos 🙏✝️

Chigg the Relic Room looks great, it's been a while since We've seen inside it , great job. Thanks Chigg
Very interesting stuff. Thanks for the great lesson. Years ago I feel for one of those eBay “cannon balls”. I later learned it was one of the steel balls used in mining to crush rocks. Live and learn.😉

Thanks Mike! I appreciate it.
Very informative, great job explaining this.
This guy knows his stuff, you got to luv it 👍
What an amazing collection
The amount of history contained in that room is just insane.
The room you were in just now is it possible for you to go around the room and show us the different things that you have found over the years?
I think that video would be a lot of fun. Thank you Kathy.
Chain shot (two balls connected by a length of chain) was for breaking rigging, tackle, ropes, masts, shread sails and otherwise immobilize the enemy ship. Grape shot can be used in that mannor but it was far more effective at clearing the deck of enemy sailors, especially before a boarding action where the goal was to capture the ship as a "prize ship".
Thanks for the great information chigg
Very Very Cool information, thanks Chigg
Very interesting information! Yes, more of these to learn from.
That's one heckuva museum you've got there! Have you ever done a virtual tour? That would be great!
Yup, it was about five years ago check his playlists… We could all bug him to do another one.
Thanks for educating
Very interesting stuff, thanks. Would be great to see a tour of your collection in a future video sometime.
Thanks for clarifying the terminologies your using. I thought I understood what you had been saying and fortunately I did.
Super Cool Info. Thanks Chigg
Im still looking for my first shell and these videos get me excited to go hunting. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Very good information, Chigg!❤
I like all the chats . Could you maybe do one on the different types of caves you have been in I remember the sink hole cave that was awesome . Thanks for the adventure.
I would love more Chigg Chat! I've watched since before you named your Channel, it was still under your name. I came back every time not just for the treasure you found but the treasure I found with everything you taught me. 😊
That clears up my confusion about grapeshot, I was thinking smaller was the grapeshot. Would not want to be on the receiving end of any of those. They say war is the mother of invention, that's true but sad, just so we can kill one another.
Enjoyed the video.
Stay Safe & Good Luck
Very interesting Chigg thanks for the information. Al, NJ
Great collection
Thanks chigg. Very interesting.
Awesome collection!
That was allsome chigg thanks I'll be watching
I see a lot of people have come in it on your magnificent collection in the background. I think you should do a video on your collection and give us a tour. Because it looks incredible and I would love to hear some history about it
Great stuff, Chig! Very interesting... cheers!
@aquachigger How about a video on different kinds of fuzes and exactly how they work? Timed vs. percussion vs. combination etc.

I've been dying to get an update on your trophy room.
How the heck did a spammer beat you????? (I already banned them)
@@aquachigger I said the same thing! Anyway, 4 of them got on here. They are relentless. Loved seeing the war room again!
Thank you for a good video. Very interesting. Where are all the canons, muskets and barrels that fired the projectiles? Have a great weekend.
I've found lots of rifles and muchsts, but no cannon yet.
Great video 👍
Thanks for the education, Chigg! That was informative and interesting ... even if there was no kitty helping you this time. LOL. Thanks, Chigg! - Muddypaw 🐾
Uncle Chiggels teaching us stuff......😊😊
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota

I enjoyed your similar videos on fuse and fuze all the best

I want to come see the room your in. It's way better than a museum. I'm not far away.
Good info thank you
Informative Chigg Chat!
Hence the origin of Drill Sgt. R. Lee Ermey's expression about opening a CANISTER of "whoop-ass..." LOL!😆
Hi Chig, it's me again JMK FROM THE UK, pertaining to the note I sent you recently about using Google earth to look for disturbances on the land, try looking in black and white, or 8 bit greyscale, take a pic of the land and then convert it using any photo app to black/white, it will make it easier on the eyes to see any anomalies, you're not trying to differentiate between shades of green, just b/w and may make things easier, just an idea of a 69er, used to be a proof reader, always looking for defects and things out of the normal...👌
It would be great if you made a video showing off your collection
So interesting and fascinating . Ta!
Thank you for the free lesson. I thought I knew, but I don't know poo...I am looking forward to more. One thing I do know, it would be a bad day to be on the muzzle end of any of them.
interesting and informative. Thanks!

Very interesting. I never knew.
