    My son got his job through the recent grads hiring program they had going on at that time. One of the things that made the difference is that he talked to someone pretty high up in the general area he was applying for. The resume tips were key. He also had jobs to where one interview was good for several states. He was offered three jobs, but because they were in the same hiring interview, he could only pick one. Luckily many of the interviews asked him to rank where he would want to go. He got his first choice, a signing bonus and a GS 7 level (US Forest Service archeologist) with promotion to Gs 9 soon if all goes well. He is thrilled. One thing that also helped him, and he was complimented for, is that even if he didn't do exactly what they were asking for, he took the experience he had that was similar and made a case of that being equivalent. And yes, research into the agency AND the location to where you are applying for is important.

    You are speaking the truth!! I have worked for the federal government for close to 20 years. I have seen new employees who are hired for the SAME JOB in the SAME AGENCY at the SAME LOCATION at the SAME TIME get anywhere between $0 and $50,000 dollar sign on bonuses. You have to negotiate!

    For anyone watching if I can add anything filter jobs from when it was posted. If you're the 50th person to apply changes are you'll never hear anything from them vs being the first five. USA gov has it where they can send you always everyday. Also a lot of jobs close after a certain number of applications.

    Hi Armand, what would be your advice when you are relying on your education to apply for a job. I am a few years out of college and have an MBA so I am likely ineligible for those entry positions for recent grads. I have one business consulting job where most of my experience comes from, but that is directly relevant to a lot of skills for data or financial analysis positions. Is my education alone enough to get me the position for a G9 or will I be pushed aside for someone who has the experience already. What can I do to remain competitive in this situation. This could also be a good video idea, so anu advice would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the valuable content!

    • @armandcuret1
      @armandcuret1  9 місяців тому +1

      There are a few variables in your situation. Where are you located? Are you will to relocate? How long have you worked at your business consulting job? Are you only looking at 0500, 1101 or 0343 job series?
      If you are qualifying on education only then a Master Degree can make you eligible for GS-9. You could perhaps leverage your experience from the business consulting job and be eligible without education but it will depend on the job announcement and the depth of your experience.

    I recently submitted a résumé that wasn’t updated nor included references however, I got lucky got referred and interviewed. My question is being that the résumé was incomplete due to the lack of references. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to get that to the hiring officials. When I reached out to HR, they said the window had closed to where I can add anything to the résumé. Some guidance is desperately needed.

    I purchased the 2210 for myself but my wife falls into the 1109 series , does the 1100 series template work for that ? I saw it specified for 1102 and 1101

    • @armandcuret1
      @armandcuret1  Місяць тому +1

      1109 focuses on Grants and 1101 focuses on a variety of business functions. It could potentially work. But you want to have your wife focus on the words on page 6 here: www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/classifying-general-schedule-positions/standards/1100/gs1109.pdf

    I waited 5 months to pass the government background check
    Then after all that mental anguish and frustration I passed the background check only
    For HR to recenid the job offer she stated ADMINISTRATIVE DELAYS As the reason and told me to reapply when they readvertise the job
    What a bunch BS

    • @royharper2003
      @royharper2003 2 місяці тому

      If you experienced mental anguish and frustration passing the background check you probably need therapy and if administrative delays bother you then you shouldn't be trying to work for the government.

I was wondering if you can talk about getting an oversea jobs such as DLA (Defense Logistic Associate) in relation to ETS date for those who are in military but planning on getting out and how the timeline works as far as packing up and sending my stuff out. Thank you and happy new year~
