Suggestion for the windows in the coop: mount them backward, so you can open/close them from outside and don't have to walk in the litter and/or disturb the birds (closing up for the night, etc.). Excellent build, and you've given me lots of ideas for my shed conversion!
That's a great idea! I have hardware cloth over my coop windows to keep out predators, but if I had thought enough in advance, I could have put hardware cloth on the inside and reversed the windows.
Amazing that you have ~1 acre in SoCal. Love that you are growing so many trees and fruit vines. The trellis to shade the windows with passion fruit is smart. Passion fruit is so delicious. Nice design to combine the chickens and your shed. Thanks for sharing.
I have a slightly smaller shed, that I plan to divide into coop and storage. Your video was extremally helpful in bringing my concept closer to reality. Thanks!
This project is almost identical to the "SOLUTIONS" I have planned for my own sloping, heavy clay, challenging climate (deep freezes and heaving thaws). You are presenting my own plans... With the exception that I also have "re-use materials access. I'm removing a wrap-around porch, from my 130-year-old house. The porch has buckled and shifted (lack of support) and it is affecting the structure of the top two levels of the house. Getting that porch dismantled and salvage/re-use....creates two projects that support each other. Too bad I have no means of doing a video story like yours.
Very nice set up, the trays in the nest boxes are a great idea. I also built my coop on my property line, im planning on building a pergola style run and growing passion fruit on it, passion fruit vines need to be controlled once it gets going.
Hey, on your other vids you mentioned a lot of grafts. Are you able to tell me some places you buy scion wood or how to find them? I was thinking it must be some forums or Facebook groups but thought I would ask. If you can’t divulge that info in public comments no worries I understand. Interested in peach or hybrids like the plum crosses/ persimmon/pomegranate/ apple/ pawpaw. Thanks
I'm in CA, and we have an organization called California Rare Fruit Growers (CRFG). There are two scion exchanges a year, and club members trade at that time. You may have a similar org by you. I also buy from Fruitwood Nursery
@@fletcherfarm I will look into something like that locally in NC but have my doubts. That website was just what I was looking for though. $5 scion way better than rising tree prices. Other positives too. 👍 you’re the man!
Right on 👍 Fruitwood Nursery's shipping is a bit expensive, so make sure you get everything you need for the year in one order. They don't permit additions once an order is in.

Thanks for the comments! This is one of my favorite places in the whole yard.

Awesome! Happy to help if you have any additional questions.

Good luck with your project!

Trays in the nest box are a must. Makes cleanup so much easier.
