- We dug into the archives to play through our previously released Signature Amplifiers.
Today we plugged into the 1987X-PW Paul Weller Signature amplifier. Created to celebrate Paul Weller's birthday and based off the original Lead & Bass 2100 50-Watt Combos that he frequently used.

This Sound is so Warm and Organic. I just love it!
Really nice look and sound!
I like the tonality and richness ... I think of Robin Trower , Ronnie Wood and Eric Clapton playing this amp and raising money for a Great Charity .

The lead & bass 50 was a 60's style circuit with a shared cathode V1 but with a 'bright cap' on the volume pot. They sound great.
Ive got an original one of these which I bought in 1999. Its a great amp and very very loud! I used to use it live with a Fender The Twin. I would link the lead and bass channels together with a patch lead and get two sounds at the same time. Along with the Fender - which is a twin channel and both channels can be mixed so four different sounds at once.
When did he start using these..... there's Jam video's live where he has marshall stacks behind him, but a Peavey (Bandit?) tucked behind the curtain. (when using a Rik)

Please re-release the PW signature amp, have been searching for a used one for close to 10 yrs with no luck!
did you ever find one?... i have one if you're interested. it has only left the factory this january 2023..

for some reason I associate PW with an AC30 - either way this amp sounds great!
I thought he was a VOX man as well! When they talk about the guitar solo he did for Champagne Supernova it was ‘He showed up to the studio with a Gibson SG and an AC30…’ or do I remember incorrectly?
Whatever the case - this amp sounds great. I know I’d want one! That’s for sure.
Tbf, look at any footage of him from his solo career live, it’s one of these, occasionally with a solid state vox head like McCartneys, Steve Craddock uses one too, there’s a vid of Paul saying the 2100 is his favourite amp
