After 24 years and 303k miles my Ming Blue B5 S4 Avant has been 100% reliable. Well maintained and stock.
honestly this b5 is so clean, i personally would keep it for the most part stock or a basic k04/rs4 clutch but good lucks bro

The paint issue on the roof is a factory defect. I've been told it's the plastic they put on the cars during transporting. The clear coats were not fully cured and saltwater was introduced under the plastics. Allroads have the same issue on the hoods

I had a b5 s4 stage 2 in high school and it was one of the best cars that I wish I had never gotten rid of. Now I have an supercharged e46 ZHP that I will never sell. These 20-30 year old cars are aging like fine wine.

I own a 2001 A4 2.8. And it drives amazing and I personally think that the B5 platform also looks amazing. Thinking about getting a B5 s4 if I don’t get a b7 s4.

I bought a B5 S4 it was always in the shop I spent so much $ so I traded it in for a Vw cc 3.6 4 motion n I love it it’s been the most relatable car I have ever owed I love vw/audi big fan I also had a mk2 vr6 gti I regret selling it til this day so I’m looking for another mk2
My first car was a 98 a4 and I still think it's the best body style and chassis of all time. Love the b5 generation ❤️

I think a lot of guys cut their teeth on motor pulls with the B5-I know I did. I still have my laser B5S4. (Have had the motor out 2 more times since the first pull) 😆

True story: March 2022 my dad and I had to junk our stage 3 b5 Imola yellow s4. The only thing that it needed was a starter. It was a 2 owner clean title and had 244k miles but still ran and boosted strong on ko4s. I tried to sell it on Audizine, craigslist, etc for a year but because I was in Miami I just couldn't find a buyer at $3500. We ended up scraping it for 600 bucks (smh) it was a sad day I wish I could have donated it to an enthusiast. Anyways now my b7 s4 is for sale, definitely not junking it.

Man I had the 2.7t a6. The thing was not that bad......they refer to it as the nightmare......can't sleep cause the 2.7 . A mechanic helped me one and changed the icms on the airbox with the ones from a 5 cylinder. No problems after that.

While I miss my B5 A4 1.8t with every mod possible, I love my B8 S4 manual with dual pulley, intake, exhaust, coilovers, wheels, etc. It's only cost me a rear window actuator from a parts car.

Always wanted one. But friend of mine had 2 of them and then he bought RS4 shell and throwed everything in that. They are worth the time spent only as rs4.
They are garage queens for sure. Broken all the time. Or you do refurb of whole car. From engine to rear frame to have reliable S4. And then you drive for some time and find something broken again.
For my taste b5 widebody is like the most beautiful there is. Maybe b7 rs4.

you need to be a DIY guy for those cars. My good bud had one, in 1.5 years he put 5k$ all DIY, then he hit the mental limit to maintain this car, he sold it to his friend, the new owner thought my friend let go the B5 at the moment where everything was fixed, then he put a 3500$ on DIY over 6 months, he hit his mental limit. Sell it ar a 3rd owner in 2 year, and the 3rd one got it for 3 years no issues.... lol. He move to N54 world, all kind of other issue, but at least you can put down some real power.
I'll be honest s4 is a great car. It just needs a good owner so it doesn't sit in the garage. My friend had one with 625whp and it was his daily.

@@IgnitionTube yea theyr both headaches at times but its worth it. Only thing that sucks in rs6 parts are harder to get than s4. But i have extra block & trans just in case. 6spd lit is coming soon. But congrats on your buy man.
That paint defect isn't going buff out, I have the same thing on my C5 allroad you can buff it out and it will be back in 60-90 days.
